They make wire clips with female ends so you don't have to cut and hard wire your amp i did it with my 19 rt durango and ill probably do it with my 16 s550

Thank you so much, I really hate the sound in my Benz, also have a Volvo XC90 with the B&W premium sound and it just made me dislike the lack of Bass in the mercedes even more. I will start with the subwoofer and hopefully I won't have to go into replacing the factory speakers. Really thankful!

Nice vid man keep up the work...need your help with something....I have a 2012 cls550...there is a lack of bass in the rear deck when fader is in the middle.(there is more bass in the front) .when I bring the fader to the rear the it loses more bass than when it was in the middle.(when fadder is in the middle i do hear the sub more but it still lacks bass...the only code I ever got was open circuit by the aplifire in the trunk( the bigger one in the corner)..there is 2 in the trunk and additional one for the sub...i changed both amp same thing and code never came back took it to the dealer they dont see any codes do you know what it could be..i realize the connection to the amp has a lot of wires could it be one of those broken i dont im lost man

Sorry just saw this. Did you tweak the sub? Meaning adjust the gain to your liking. It's a lot of trial and error and going back and forth into the cabin. The goal is not to be able to tell where all your sound is coming from. Adjust your crossover on your amp to the point where it slightly overlap with your midrange speakers.

@@WayneARobertson i tried another amp(the bigger one command unit) and same thing. When i disconnected the smaller one i dont hear difference in sound..i also tired another amp(the smaller one) and its the same..when i put the fader to the back it sounds kime the door speakers are kinda low( not sure) but theres def lack of bass when you put the fader to the back when you oht it in the middle you can hear mist of bass coming from the front..someone said its tje sub in the back im wondering if when i got that code for open ciruit its one of rhe wires that go to the bigger amp(command unit) the code was saying its the bigger one

The concept is the same but the wiring is probably different. Look up the wiring for the W221 and follow the same principle.

Since the interior is isolated from the trunk in the W222, Does the subs in the trunk still hit hard?

Bass is omni directional. You have a choice between a ported sub and a seal sub. I've tried them both. For the size of this car, a bigger subwoofer is always welcome. I took out my ported 12" JBL subwoofer and replaced it with a 13" JL Audio sealed sub. 12" JBL is 400 watts. The JL Audi is 800 watt into 2 ohms and 400w into 4 ohms. I have a mono 800 watt into 2 ohm mono amp. As long as you tweak or tune the sub to your liking you will hear it as well as feel it. I did not want to give the impression that all the bass was coming from the back of the car so I tuned it exactly to blend in with the other speakers with the exception of the cutoff frequency to let you know something was in the trunk. Ported sub will move air for thunderous bass, while a sealed is tight bass without the boom. Don't get me wrong, you can still blow your eardrums out.

I tapped into the cigarette lighter socket in the trunk. It is on the same side as the auxillary battery. There you will find the positive wire. Tap into it and test it with the ignition keys on and off. It is behind the trunk compartment when you pull it off. It will be great if you have a volt meter or a light lamp.

Hey does the trunk rattle at all? Do you need dynamat and also do you think a capacitor is needed or is our charging system enough?

My trunk does not rattle but adding dynamic mat would be nice. I have a 2 farad capacitor that I dont use. I dont think they do anything to your system but shorten the battery life and your alternator.

Just remember the basics, the concepts is still the same, the wiring or the audio color code is different for your car. Once you find the color code for you car, the installation is easy.
