I bought my items on ebay for about $600 us (HMI 2.5 and Radio 2.5 from a 2016 or newer). Then I paid about $175us to have them reprogrammed fro my VIN.. I assume you can fine the units in the UK used as well the have a dealer reprogram them. You could buy units the VIN has already been cleared, likely pay more for them.

yes, it needs to be swapped. I used a "pointy" tool that was bend so I could reach under then case and push the clips under the face of old USB module.

Also, some have HD radio and some don't. Some have XM and some don't. Dont forget to get a new USB module too. If it has a SD-Card slot, it will not work. @@TheRFreyre I did not price out at GM dealer as most forums said they would not do it as it was not standard to the car. I think I found ​@UCFrE_MFPGdXoMGMCs0jRTIw on ebay and he charged me $175. You can also find him on ebay with he name digitalrehab4u.

All worked exactly as expected with one small exception. on a 2016 or newer model, if you hold down the "voice button" for 5 second, Siri responds. On my 2015, when you push the voice button, only the car's voice will repond. The simple work around is to push the onscreen siri button instead. I also understand replacing the button is very difficult, so I never tried. Hope that helps.

@@leeberk9857 yeah you have to get a newer instrument cluster to get that functionality im surprised that it didnt work on your 2015 car though cause i used a cluster out of a late 2014 car

I don’t any more, but I bought on eBay. You can do a search for 2016 or newer. It does not have SD card slot. Sorry I don’t have more.

As I understand it, 2014 to 2017 have identical wiring. My HMI and ASM Radio were from 2 different 2017 GM cars

Just wanted to add, the HMI 2.5 has to be with a compatible radio. Wiring was the same for me.

Yes, you need to remove the HMI and radio 2.0 hardware and replace it with HMI and radio 2.5 hardware. It’s a one for one replacement and the units look identical. I bought mine used on eBay. You do have to have them programmed with the VIN of you car, or they won’t work. Eric Ellison on this string reprogrammed mine. Hope that helps!

Forgot to add, it does not matter, but I do have Bose. It’s 2015 Buick GS

Both the ASM Radio and HMI need to be the same version and need to be at v2.5. Some radios are HD and some are not, so be ware of that. Some HMIs have Nav, some do not. Some HMI don't have voice activation, most do, so be aware of that too. Yes, just the two inits, HMI behind the center dash and radio behind the glovebox.

Just to add, you need to have the VIN of your car entered into these units for them to work. Eric Ellison on this sting did mine if you need that help. Your GM dealer may be able to do it as well

I sent away to someone on eBay who reprogram it. Here is there listing. Very honorable and stood behind his work. Gave great advice when I was looking for used units on which units would work with my cars! I'm in uk and have a 2015 with out the projector. If I buy a used 2.5 unit and radio what do I need for it to be reprogrammed? Security code or vin from previous vehicle?
