When El Estepario Siberiano calls Eloy the best metal drummer in the world, you know the guy's a legend. Sepultura kick ass, too, he deserves all his fortune.
I have seen Sepultura few times. Eloy just bring it to a whole new level, it's insane to see him live. His Master of Puppets cover is easily one of the best drums cover EVER. Absolutely brutal
@@duxnihilo "Fortune" doesn't necessarily mean "money", it can also mean "luck" or "chance" and the way it affects your life. For Eloy to join such a recognised, prominent and influential band as big as Sepultura at just age 20 says a lot about his skill due to countless hours of practice and dedication. Whether or not he is very wealthy as a result of that doesn't mean he isn't fortunate.
@@PsyphaX09 This depends on the genre. Say, if you were playing heavy metal, just traditional heavy metal, double bass may not be necessary, because the genre isn’t reliant on it. If you were playing deathcore, it is necessary, because without double bass it would sound “dull”.
@Iceman it doesn't, me life goes on... But a song, like every piece of art, must be kept in its original version. By the way... You can do with it and with your life whatever the fu#& you want.
Just wanted to say that I was very impressed with how you both let Eloy talk and if you thought you cut him off or interrupted him you quickly let him talk. Nice job interviewing and it was a joy to watch. Nice job to all involved.
You're absolutely right! Michael Jackson did shine a spotlight on Olodum with his music video for "They Don't Care About Us" in 1996, but even before that, in 1991, Paul Simon featured Olodum on the track "Obvious Child." It was a wonderful collaboration that introduced Olodum's powerful percussion and Afro-Brazilian rhythms to a wider audience. Both MJ and Paul Simon contributed to the recognition and appreciation of Olodum's incredible music.
i’ve been a drummer for 25 years and in the metal world i’ve never seen such power and taste, mario great gene great but this guy is a prodigy. that’s the only word for it, prodigy. people like this don’t come along every day. appreciate him!
Fantastic drummer with such a wide spectrum and such a power and complexity in his drumming. Seams to be a very nice guy as well that doesn`t look arrogant even though he is one of the best drummers now. He is very inspiring.
What as awesome video, guys! "They don't care about us" is the name of the song M.J. recorded with Olodum. They shot it in Salvador and in Rio de Janeiro. It was pretty cool to see it as a Brazilian fan of the king. Keep up the great work! 🤘🏽
Look, I stopped taking drum lessons at 8 years old because I didn't have a drum set to practice on at home..I 8 years later payed 550 dollars for a Slingerland six piece drum set with roto toms; so it was a 9 piece drum set all together.. and I only use promark drumsticks.. anyways after dishwashing and working 9 hours a day 6 days a week for 9.50 an hour for many months, it turned into a 36 hundred dollar drum set.. but I never owned a double foot pedal.. I'm now piecing my second drum set together which uses everything used..I get the best equipment from the guitar center online.. they have been very healthy with discounts and over the phone communication.. I'm working with my first double foot pedal I reiterate.. but my first foot pedal was a Ludwig speed king..I love watching you guys and your guests..much love ❤
i am kinda surprised that no one asked Eloy about his foot techniques and that subject itself can carry a whole episode. Shame on me that I missed this one live. I would have asked him toms of question if I had been.
A monster, man! And also a great guy. Makes me so happy for Sepultura; They deserved to be back to their prime level, and no one could get the job done better than Eloy!
8:03 Hola desde Puerto Rico! Now when Eloy says “When you put the responsibility of making money into your instrument that like really affect your playing ” - I’m intrigued in what we’re your top challenges to make it possible. Awesome lesson 🔥💯🥁
One of the best drummers of all time and probably the MOST AMAZING drummer around! Bring him back and make the most of the plethora of things, monstrous techniques and versatility he has to offer. Bring him to show the way he approaches the drums. This kid is SENSATIONAL. The most admired drummer of recent years, a legend!
Bro, Eloy is a LEGEND.
Stop " bringing dead back " let them die, evolution works that way. Respect and learn from the past, it doesn't need to live again, but be learned from & improved upon.... otherwise this garbage sequel based nostalgia swamp that passes for creativity will continue to dominate
@@Clay_j_Bray I basically agree with you. The thing with Sepultura was (in my opinion): It was too late to just let them die. They should have done that and founded a new band immediately after hiring Derrick Green in 1998. It would have been easier to just form a new band because they wouldn't had to have to deal with the immense backlash by the Max Cavalera-fans.
@@tobias3023 the issue is Igor was still in the band, and he supported Derrick's hiring and moving on with the band. That's why they didn't change the band name.
Yes!!! I’m older (48) I haven’t jammed Sepultura since Max left. So I didn’t know who Eloy was until like a month or so ago. But I have seen the clips of him playing with Knot and it’s just brutal!!!! He is a beast
This kit sounds so killer! It’s so well tuned, he even doesn’t do any damping- not even the resonance drumheads. And I don’t have to say that Eloy is also killer on the drums.
Love this . I also play guitar and bass and the last two songs I wrote were clean guitars save a lead channel , but def not metal ( my usual ) , and I added double kicks to both and they turned out great . It really fits . I’m actually shocked that no one really does this .
Hey Guys, this is the first time I’ve seen “The Drum Department” format. I really like it!!!!! Great Job!!!!! Oh, and Eloy was amazing!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
Such a killer episode! Eloy is a monster behind the kit and seems like such a cool, down to earth guy who has a passion for his craft. Really enjoyed the positive vibe on this episode, keep up the great work!
Awesome how good that snare, and those toms and cymbals especially sounded in that age of 14 video. I miss hearing cymbals in the past 10-20 years from our new-metal music.
Ash Pearson is such an insane drummer and Revocation is one of the MOST technically skilled bands around. I love seeing more guests from the metal scene on Drumeo.
