The biggest difference is that a PoE Switch provides both power and data over Ethernet cables, while a normal network switch only provides data connectivity, and it requires separate power sources for connected devices. The PoE switch is commonly used in setups with IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points that support PoE, which is beneficial for installations where devices are located far from power sources, such as outdoor cameras or ceiling-mounted access points. The network switch, on the other hand, is more suitable for general networking needs where connected devices have their own power supplies, like desktop computers, printers, and non-PoE network devices.
It really depends on how many devices you have in this small system. The router from the ISP provider is usually designed for the SOHO network. If the RJ45 ports are enough or the switching capacity is good, there is no problem.
