One cool thing could be like an injury system, where NPCs hit by cars, dragged by the mouse, or otherwise hurt, could have a chance to either just die or get injured. With injuries either having the possibility to be fatal, or non fatal, with fatal injuries leaving them ragdolled until they get picked up by an ambulance/die if they get no help in time, or be non fatal, where they will get up and walk/drive to a hostpital.
Can you add a News System where everytime there is for example a riot we hear a short news report. It would be funny to be notified about the breakdown of the city by your calming voice.
Add a feature that's fairly rare where on a straight road, a random car will start speeding to extremely high speeds and if you bring your camera close enough to the car you can hear free bird playing, and the second the car hits anything there's a huge explosion
i think riots/protests should be bigger with more groups or/and larger groups and i think there should be police AI that is able to peacefully or violently clear crowds for you

Here's an idea: In every stage 3 riot group, there's a 50% chance that there's gonna be one drunk guy holding a beer bottle that collapses on the ground at a random point during the riot. And an idea for a sign message... "Enter text here".

I just had a random idea. Police stations can deploy SWAT/Anti-Riot Teams that go and "deal with" riots in the respectable way. Such as a swat van rolling up on a protest and several "police" npcs hopping out grabbibg people and just yeeting them into the van before driving off. Or if you so wish they do what the truck did. Run through the riot. Then the cops get out and grab the protesters that way. Simple but effective. May make rioters more angey depending on which force method they choose though :3
Giving a City-Skylines-esque traffic light coder for us city builders to use to program our intersections would be a great quality-of-life addition ngl
I have a great idea for a Riot. They dunno what they are Rioting for but most of the people Rioting just don't want to be left out. Signs would include: "I don't know why I'm here!" "I am mad but I don't know why." " "I dunno why I am protesting for but I wanna join in on the fun :)" "WHO TOOK MY SANDWICH!" "I'm one with the crowd :D" "Why are we doing this? I don't know, but we are."
A suggestion if you haven't already done it, love crimes to be added where you can watch NPCs break into home and steal, high speed chases, banks robbed etc, second add things like gangs, gangs can be any npc even mayor can be a member, doing illegal activity, some gangs are friendly types, do illegal but have moral code to gangs that hanging dead bodies like old west days in street lights, and have police to stop them where you can watch police do house raids, catch hit and run criminals, doing routine traffic stop for speeders, cracking down on npc gangs, etc. You can watch things like criminals and cops having shoot outs and more. Some are professionals criminal and cops with proper tactics to their crimes or anti crime work, other npc's are amateur criminal forging things like bringing ammo to rob a bank yet tries shooting cops, other trigger house alarm that professionals wouldnt do less they going into best security systems. Same for cops. Lastly adding security systems to different building models some houses have cameras some don't, some cover every inch of home On cameras some only watch the front porch. Some don't use cameras but motion sensors, some with actual guards, even a mix, buildings like town hall have security systems possible, but homes in slums may have no security,
A protest idea would be to get the equivalent of this universe McRib Back. A sign would be like "We want our CluckRIb back or you will be attacked" or "Justice for the Cluckrib"

Protests happen for hours, and during those hours, people aren't just standing and yelling. Ya need cooks with grills! Maybe the angriest people lead others, and share their struggles the most. Could always have small cart shops going around, selling ice cream to the protesters :) Good luck, and stay beautiful!
There should totally be a mode were you cant destroy anything so you have to really think through were to place stuff. Exept the buildings and roads should be able to be destroyed by fires, and whatever else as long as the player cant directly destroy them.
Have you not tried Cities Skylines and Anno 1800 (or for that matter any game in that series). You should, because they have the same mechanic. And it plays a major role in Anno 1800, so you should definitely play that.

add a mechanic called "word of mouth" or "rumors" where the more bad things happens to ur city the more stigma it builds and people might have the reluctance to move in.
Three protester suggestions: - "What's for lunch?", possibly with other signs like "I don't know.", "we can't, that's not coded in yet." and "someone legalise eating." In reply. - "mandatory hats for cats.", possibly with one being the inverse. - For stage two protests: "ban jaywalking."
The crazy intersections will make the NPCs lose their minds - no wonder they riot :D I am happy that I don't have to deal with this hard-core stuff in my own 2D games that I make. Anyway great job and keep up the good work. - Dan
Please add trains to the game. They could be used to carry different cargo (even explosive tanks of petrol). There would be different trains too. Steam trains, electric, diesel (for variety)
A fun sign you could have a protest for, is if there is bugs upon release, you should write “FIX THE BUGS!” And if you can, you should make the serious protests be about the specefic reason they are unhappy. So lets say there is no water in you’re city, they would protest about that
You should keep Car Crashes it makes the road interesting and make it so if they Crash they get set and fire and then explode which and cause damage to the road or a house and it will become a contruction zone.
I have a little idea How about, once you reach a certain amount of progress in the game or something, you unlock new worlds/planets/dimensions, which have their own unique building styles and different factors and disasters to consider And how about adding farms and mines, for example, that can be used to feed the population of the city and allow for upgraded buildings? Also, failing to provide these basic amenities should cause riots and even starvation crisis that might turn the city into a chaotic and disorderly one
I know im pretty late to this video but what if after the npcs get picked up and thrown around alot they start to protest about being thrown and dragged
