Somewhat newbie to your amazing podcast.. truck driver from Florida.. I love you're stuff and it passes the time perfectly with my interest in Gettysburg.. this one was great.
I can’t even imagine having so much available space in one’s brain - much less the energy, to focus on finer details like a location of where a contemporary photograph was taken. I’m 68, and it makes my noggin ache and throb just listening to these fellas! Surely a mark of genius and patience to be able to dig into all these details without having your head explode. Kudos to all historians!
It's not the location. The ground would be torn up from the canister fire .First days location.....maybe 147th New York? I believe they refused their line.
@@addressinggettysburg if you’ve ever seen a field after hundreds of muskets live fire - the ground is torn with furrows all over from Minie balls and canister.
I had never heard of John Batchelder till now. How he documented so meticulously the battle of Gettysburg and created a map of the battlefield. Pretty remarkable story.
