I'm an engineering student at ucr and there are insanely intelligent people here and some of my friends have had internships that eventually turned into full time jobs at NASA and even Tesla! It's not the name of the school that matters, it's whether you want to make something of yourself in college, and there are plenty of people at ucr who have this incredible mindset that get them very far in life :)

UCR used to be a dummy school with low high school average GPA admitted back in the early-2000s, and acceptance rate was 85%. How much it has changed today.

I'm going to have to disagree on the CHASS comment, I don't think CHASS is predominantly easy. we definitely use rhetorical, critical, and logical thinking. Of course every major is different. I'm an English major myself, and I can tell you that I rarely get to use my creative side. It's more analytical and research-based classes. CHASS majors also need to take classes outside of their majors so we definitely also have to take classes such as biology, political science, math, etc. for anyone thinking to get into the CHASS program at UCR as an English major, just know it's not super chill, you definitely need to put in the hours with a lot; I mean A LOT of writing, reading, and research.
