45:40 People always talk about how this model that model is old enough to drink, but "They're old enough to get cheaper car insurance" is *WAY* funnier as a concept.
Horus Heresy was, IIRC, created because they only had 1 mold for Warlord Titans in Adeptus Titanicus and needed a reason for them to fight. Enter an imperial civil war.
1:12:45 - the Heresy was invented for the first Titanicus boxed set, to explain why there was just the one plastic Warlord kit in different colours ^^ Great video, thanks for the painting time soundtrack!
As someone who collects World Eaters I can confirm that each and every Legionnaire is a new nightmare of trim and fiddly details. I'm now painting Dark Angels and it's like being on holiday in terms of painting difficulty
Warmachine almost destroyed GW in the early 2000s. They took a shotgun and blew off their own foot by squatting their book series, bad rules, and a price hike. GW lives entirely off of fans who remember better days and new people who click on warhammer memes.
I think funnily enough the best way for the Tau to handle the greater good god is the same way they view aliens in general. The greater good god is another alien that can be integrated into the greater good. And depending on who decided how Tau'va is integrated, Tau'va would probably be chill with it. I should say i havent read the shadowsun book so im basing this on the small dribble of information we got from the codex
If Ukrainians at war can still make quality resin that doesn’t require an unholy amount of clean up and prep to even put together, how the hell does Forge World get away with their prices and quality.
56:52 i still have my first warhammer model. A mono pose stink with bow i got when i was 4 from a child of the kindergarten teacher i had. The skins is now on top of a stegadon as a chief
I’ve been putting together a space pirate army for fun with my friends. I’m using four to five different codexes and mix match of units. It’s honestly a giant mess that’s quite uncompetitive and clunky but it’s been a fun labor of love making squads of renegade Tau and necromundan gangs alongside Dark Eldar carrying a bolt pistol and an Ork lugging heavy weapons from six different races.
Question: Regarding the Talos Trilogy of Night Lords (sorta-spoilers). Talos was seen as a threat to Craftworld Ulthwe. Why were the Night Lords, of all Chaos Legions, made out to be this big threat for this one specific Craftworld?
Thanks yet again for answering my question and putting so much thought into it. My wishlist gang for Necromunda has always been Ork Raiders from the Skull Hive. When it comes to guests; I know it is probably a mix between you reaching out and them reaching out to you, but is it beneficial in any way for the community to mention your podcast to others that you would like as guests? This of course means in a way that isn't obtrusive or harrassing.
Any ideas how you guys think Tyranids stories could be improved upon? (Leaving this question here since it can serve as an interesting discussion for next podcast)
Hey there, if this is a question you'd like us to answer next episode, please preface it with the word "question" (as it helps us find questions easier ^^).
I think the issue with the Sisters origin is that the whole loophole doesn't really make any sense when it's confirmed men and women serve in almost all branches of service except the Nulls and Astartes- so, the SOB don't really make sense on loophole premise
I’d have to strongly disagree with the idea of Horus Heresy being GW’s way of cornering the historical tabletop gaming market. Yes, it’s a historical _version_ of 40K, but that does not make it a full-on historical _game_ in the same vein as Bolt Action or Lion Rampant. That’s like saying Blood Bowl is GW’s way of cornering the market on the NFL video game market (i.e. Madden), the two have some similarities and (one-way) influence but are not the same niche. The key difference is that true historical games are based on a period of human history - at any point from the stone age to the digital age - that _actually happened in real life,_ whereas Heresy is still a _fictional setting._ Its appeal is being a different flavour of 40k, with a grittier vibe and more emphasis on Marines. Arbitor Ian has mentioned this several times in his Heresy videos, especially his ‘Your Guys’ Heresy hobby video. That’s not to tar historicals with the brush of ‘uncreative, restrictive and dull’, far from it: as a historicals player and hobbyist, I can say there is _loads of room_ for creativity, artistic license, and ‘your dudes’ storytelling, especially for the more obscure historical periods, topics and sub-topics where accurate records and resources are sparse. Tabletop historics have been dealt a raw deal by the wider tabletop community in recent years, which is a shame, as we’re stronger and happier when banding together as fellow nerds.
I honestly dislike the idea that the T'au were supposed to be a noblebright faction. Not that it's a bad concept or someone can't like it, but I feel like the T'au's flavor of dictatorship was just "sweet" enough that people misinterpreted it for genuine hopefulness and goodness and are now surprised that the Empire isn't the good guy promised.
Craft world Eldar are legit the most boring poorly written elf faction while also in both tabletop and video games busted as fuck shit man I remember howling banshee spam in dow2 Legit the authors that are really good at writing Eldar either left black library like Josh Reynolds or work on something else like guy Hailey
On the Votan point: they suffer two problems, lack of lore and themes. The first is obvious, armys are appreciated for their lore, votan haven't really been elaborated or iterated with time to grow into their place. (As most "fantasy" things have since rogue trader) Second, at least to me, is while they use dwarf ideas, most "dwarfy/stereotypical" things are already used. Bikes, tech, vikings, from the Squats all that's been used by admech, swolves, etc. In a universe as exaggerated and flamboyant as 40k, they just come across at a glance as short grouchy man. Yadda yadda Ted talk.
When I get the cash I'm going to base a league on the Kushaan from homeworld cataclysm I would nut if they added models like firedrakes and they used phosfex throwers in there range line ALSO HAD GYRO COPTERS YOU FUCKING HACK JAMES
