Since there's no complete version of Record of Lodoss War's Fantasia of the Wind's song in English. I decided to do the best next thing; remixed it to make it sound more "complete". Enjoy and don't forget to like and subscribe.
90s animes really were the best. Maybe that's just the nostalgia talking, but... There was just something more to them. Something indepth. Something that wasn't just filler and CGI dependent. It felt like the animators and storytellers were giving their all to compensate for the lack of technological advancements (as compared to today) at that time. When I finally write this novel of mine, I hope I can capture even just a scraping of that essence. Such meaning, such nostalgia...
Nah, i just saw a 90s anime the other day for the first time and it was far and above better than most anime i've seen from recent years. It's not just nostalgia, it's quality.
it's pretty much nostalgia, but 90s animes had some unique qualities, same goes for 80s animes and 2000s animes. Also there is huge difference between early mid 90s and late 90s animes. Personally overall my preferred era is early 80s, art-wise my preferred era is late 90s and finally story-wise 2000s animes made a huge leap forward. modern animes are cancer tho. (not all of them luckily)
Late 80's to early 90's anime were fucking awesome. Dominion Tank Police, Guyver, Ninja Scroll and of course Lodoss War. There may be too much panning over matte painting for modern taste but the darker and more tragic stories make up for it.
Even when I watch them later, having never seen them back then, I still get taken back to that era fills me with all the hopes I used to have about my future, that I'd fall in love someday or have some kind of semblance of a life, that media would just keep getting better and moving in great new directions... on the other hand I didn't see internet coming, so it's not all crushing depression and loneliness.
Lyrics: Let all the wonders come to me. The fantasy fills - fills my heart. I'll never wander anymore for all the love I have I have for you. All the spirits of the wind spread their magic wings and fly. Racing at the speed of light through the valleys and the passages of time. When we fell in love; destiny. Now each night will have no end; our nights will never end. Eternity awaits you and me now that you are here. We'll never be alone again. Stay with me, my love.
Honestly I agree. The English version is sung way better than the Japanese one. That's just objective fact. There are points where the Japanese version sounds like Karaoke.
I believe that Lisa DeSimone sang the English version of Fantasia of the Wind, and Adesso’ E Fortuna. Amazing she has very powerful and romantic voice. Thank u Miss DeSimone.
Same. Mom got me that anime subscription I kept seeing commercials for in the 90's, Manga Films or some such company. One per month. Akira, Fist of the North Star, Project A-Ko, Golgo 13, MD Geist, Dirty Pair, Crying Freeman, Lupin the 3rd, 3x3 Eyes, etc. and eventually Record of Lodoss War. I rewatched those VHS tapes so much. She never really sat down and watched with me so I don't think she really knew the explicit content she was buying me lol. She just saw them as cartoons.
1990s babies like me and others im sure find this nostalgic! I grew up watching this ! One of my favorites as a child! One of my preferred since now animation films have become more explicit in some ways less or more but thanks for uploading! ^_^
You have no idea. After I listened to this the other day I went to find Kiseki no Umi and it gave me a sense of longing and sadness that I found surprisingly profound.
@@ninalindqvist4032 well i guess you can consider the release of it in english dubbing? I watched it in english in 2002-2005 😄 i’ll check back on that though
Good luck. It's out of print. I happened to get mine for about $20 at a half price books at random chance. Still need to find the time to sit down and watch it.
MudDragon723 Thank you! There are not many copies of this show anymore, but they still can found at some HalfPrice Books stores. I saw two copies, and they were quite expensive; $70. You can always check online. I had the chance to see the anime because they played on a channel back in the 90's. Then watched the whole thing, including the ova, because my sister bought the dvds.
BloodNShadow Might depend on the set your getting. I think there was a set with the OVAs and the TV series, but I'm not fully sure on that. Also some prints of it might be more rare than others.
@@MadMattInc1 If you still haven't gotten it Funimation now sells it with the tv series on Blue-Ray for like 24$. A steal. Definitely watch the OVA first though, the first half at least, the anime series does not include that portion of the story.
Many moons ago (over 9 years) I found a low quality version of this song is a language unknown too me. Not english. spanish, or Japanese version but it was even more beautiful than those versions I wish I could find a better quality of it. The singer in that version also rolls her r's very well. This was back when translating was effort. When they would find singers to even redo the opening and ending. They did the same for Yu Yu Hakusho and Outlaw Star, but none were better than the ones for Lodoss.
+Nothingman Yeah that's it!. Thanks that has been bugging me for years. I thin it's the rolling r's right before the chorus that gets me. It's so interesting I have never known another anime to have their ending and opening translated into so many diffrent langauges. Maybe from Japanese to english but never like 5 diffrent languages.
+SkyExplosion eheh, in fact people use to say we have a charming accent :) It shall be definitely be cause of that "rolling Rs" we have. I like the english version thought. Maybe be cause I'm used to listen to international music
+Nothingman I can see that. My original langauge has harsher sounds that don't exist in the english alphabet so it leads me to saying some things incorrectly instead of being able to do something as cool as rolling my r's. My ex use to be able to though. It was cool.
WickedIsPopular Me too! I don't know either why they didn't. At one point fans were gathering signatures so the original singer could sing the whole thing completely, but apparently she was working for Disney at the time, and she couldn't do so, because of the contract she had with Disney.
This song is really strange in its construction: the bridge should definitely be the chords, and then chords should be the bridge. Overall I think the English version sounds better than the original Japanese
Japan needs to go back to making more anime like how they used to. Will there ever be another time when such days come back? Probably not. Japan had unique take on Western RPGs back in the 80s and 90s as you can see with how unique Record of Lodoss War was along with other fantasy series. 90s fantasy anime heavily influenced from DnD for sure, though (due in part because the fantasy JRPG games of the mid to late 80s to early 90s were also influenced from DnD). but now the modern take on RPG is more focused on fanservice, noodley arm characters and less real fantasy. Not gritty, not whimsy, too trendy and slick. Sigh.
Dude it wasn't just 'influenced by DnD' Record of lodoss war is legitimately just an animated DnD campaign. It was published before the anime, they used to have that shit back in the 80's/early 90's.
Some music labels are super protective over their material, even if its really old and pretty much irrelevant. Makes no sense to pursue these songs but they do it anyway.
