Wow this has blown my mind. I can relate to this so much. I never realised that this was a thing. I’m 35 and just starting the process of getting a formal diagnosis for ADHD. The constant going over of conversation in my head about things that haven’t even happened or are unlikely to happen is almost a daily occurrence and I’m so exhausted by it all. This video has given me a lot to think about and try and work on. I’ll be watching more. Thank you

YES This, as it’s a thing that affects you daily it should have been on the diagnosis criteria long ago! Love your humour it helps a lot!

Thank you both + James lovely wife for this channel. Awaiting My Assessment (3.5 yrs waiting now as NHS) . I Stopped alcohol Thanks to IAS group ( app) & support is great. Ur alcohol one was great too. Fears of rejection & impulsivity are aweful. Breathing techniques help me. I've had EMDR for trauma . Really recommend it. I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia & she said to get tested as did my Dr. Diagnosed neurodiverse at 53!! Got thru nursing with LISTS 😂😂😂

I’m a nurse. There’s absolutely nothing my employer can accommodate. My job is entirely noise, interruptions, multitasking.

As an ex-nurse I absolutely agree. Can I ask, does your employer have a neurodiversity policy?

I disengage AND people please (and get anxiety until I get a positive response for my every action). So I keep my acquaintance group as small as possible because every additional person stretches me thinner. If you asked me before I watched this if I had RSD, I'd've denied it. I was absolutely not ready to be called out so hard.

Oh wow, so glad I watched this episode today! I had a meltdown *and* a panic attack because I’m having my adhd assessment next week and I’ve been essentially doing what Sam does, going over conversations in my head, because I’m worried the psychiatrist will say there’s nothing wrong with me. I’ll try to compartmentalise tomorrow. It’s frankly a bit bloody ridiculous because I know they triaged me and I was put on the cancellation waiting list, so was offered an appointment 4months after referral 🤷🏻‍♀️ thank you thank you thank you.

Thank you so much for doing these videos and podcasts. This one in particular just resonated and if it is any consolation I think the whole 'sausage fingers' thing would have collapsed my world too.

Honestly our pleasure! RSD is such a part of who we are, trying to explain it to someone who doesn’t have it is like trying to knit fog ✌🏻

Just found this group/organisation and appreciate what you guys are doing. I believe there is RSD in my marriage. Only problem is I found out about it maybe 12 years too late. I'm the non ADHD partner. Now I know a whole lot more about ADHD I see the symptoms everywhere. Love my wife to bits but she doesn't want to seek a diagnosis and resents me suggesting it....even though she agrees she may have it! On the brink of splitting up now.

James we’re so sorry to hear that, it’s incredibly difficult. It’s very hard to push for a diagnosis if someone is resistant, and for you to be looking into ADHD as the non-ADHD partner is incredibly compassionate ❤️

You guys - I discovered your amazing podcast through the ADHD AF episode, and I am so so happy that I found you. The episode with Sam regarding ADHD and (peri)menopause really blew my mind. As I am from Germany, the whole diagnostic process is of course different from the UK, but still kinda complicated and time consuming, especially in rural areas like the one I live in. Nonetheless, I'm planning on getting an official diagnosis for my suspected ADHD as well as perimenopausal symptoms. And that's because of people like you and your podcasts. So thank you so much for all the information and the encouragement. And thanks for explaining things in a way that my squirrel confetti brain can process. Greetings from Germany!

8:55 - I have ADHD but not RSD. I'm completely apathetic to whether or not someone accepts me. 10:23 - I love constructive criticism. Ill get more offended if I feel someone is lying to me by telling me what I want to hear.

I’ve just discovered this podcast is available on RU-vid! 😲 There’s one major problem though… I can’t listen at 0.8 speed as on Spotify, so I basically can’t take in what you’re saying 🙈 😆

13:00 I would not laugh to someone telling he has ADHD - in order not to hurt him (his feelings) or mock someone's experience and struggles in life. The reason for not laughing is not because I did not find the joke funny. However if we were in person I would watch your facial expression and the tone of voice how the joke was spoken - and I would empathize with the reaction you have to match my reaction. If I see you laughing, I would laugh also (not hysterically). I would not be stone cold if you yourself are not angry or showing signs of hurt or pain when telling it.

How is RSD different from BPD- attachment issues, fear of abandonment and rejection? Asking as a person who was diagnosed with Bpd then, changed to ADHD + PTSD …
@theadhdadults
@theadhdadults 19 дней назад
@@RomanasYT very difficult to tease out the differences, RSD manifests in many different ways for different people ❤️

Great stuff! Lots of questions, but one stands out - if my main issue with the podcast is that James' colour balance is too yellow and Alex is a bit overexposed/too contrasty, and also your heads aren't equal sizes, is it ADHD or do I need to dig deeper? :/
@fdmcallister

Nothing is equal to Alex’s head size… the production values get marginally better after about 4 or 5 episodes. Marginally.

Are there any links on RSD and Anxious attachment style?
@theadhdadults
@theadhdadults Год назад
There are some papers, not great quality, but here is a quote: “It was found that, as anxious attachment level increased, psychopathology symptoms and rejection sensitivity increased and self-esteem decreased”
