RME designs and builds rock solid equipment that perform flawlessly with no hiccups (mine is an early UFX), more reliable than my Mac Mini’s iTunes. If were to trade in my UFX I’d buy RME again and it would be from this series of ad/da converters

I have the ADI-2 DAC fs, version 1, in my desktop headphone set up, it's the jewel in my system, love it!

I have now owned the ADI 2 DAC Fs for two weeks now and really love it. Exactly as advertised. I use it as a pre amp, using the balanced outputs to my high current amp and it really brought it to life compared to my old receiver's RCA outs. Love the neutral sound (or lack of sound) allowing me to hear the true sound of music through my amp/speakers alone. I'm old (50) and grew up with visualizers and really like that feature. Digicheck is super cool. So far my favorite filter is NOS and haven't felt the need to EQ it sounded so good out of the box. I recommend this dac to anyone looking for a very neutral, clinical dac to feed a pre amp or amp. I haven't even tried the headphones yet, I've been changing out speakers seeing how my collection sounds now. Great product, thanks.

How does the new DAC and Headphone amps in the new Fireface III USB 3.0 compare to these? Would listening to audio via MacBook Pro with headphones be just as good? Everything is set up in the computer and Apple Music for hi res. Right now I use a Apogee Groove with Focal Clear mg's or Aryas or into Drawmer MC3.1 and round to it's headphone amp or Focal 6bes.

ADI 2FS... is it the same convertion as the other two without the DSP or not quite? Becuase I'm looking for a converter for a exsisting interface so do not need the interface as such but the fact I could ensure the word clock matches the device buy using that at times makes it good for the mastering purpose. Although that little extra need is £1000 more and another £500 would see me something a little better that is as flexible. Is the converstion comparible or diffrent? It's sold as being less, but the statment isn't clear, is it sold that way to make the other two more attactive or is it not quite the same sound?

Hello. I'm trying to decide between the different models for a 2.2 stereo setup in my living room. I need AES output for my Genelec speakers which only the PRO has (but no IEMs). I suppose I could use a SPDIF -> AES converter with the adi-2 dac fs. Which model would you recommend?

In the video it says the Pro FS RBE supports different headphone mixes. Is this feature set up on the hardware or is there PC/Mac software that controls this functionality? Does TotalMix FX work for these?

Having the Fireface 802 already working as an audio interface (and happy!), my conclusion is that the ADI-2 FS would be a logical add-on to the signal chain to benefit from the DA-Conversion? So instead of connecting my speakers directly with the 802, I'd place the AD2-FS in the signal chain between the 802 and the speakers to take advantage of the superior DA-conversion? Edit: My 802 is connected to three speakers. One stereo pair as main speakers and one mono speaker for checking mono compatibility while mixing.

If I want to use IEM:s with the PRO. How do I go about? And will I get the same result as with the DAC?

The cooling of my ADI-2 Pro must be improved. The shell gets too hot in summer. I raised the converter about 2 cm to improve the air flow but it is not enough. Now I use a 12x12 fan on the side and it works.

I am looking for an SS and Tube amp to pair with this D/A converter to power my Diana Phi and ZMF Verite C, any suggestions?

I have an older ADI 2 FS DAC with AKM 4493 and brand new (two months old) ADI 2 FS Silverface. I do not know which chip is in Silverface, but I do know that it sounds better than DAC Blackface. It has much more detail and phase precision than DAC version. Pitty it does not have remote control, because I do not need DSP nor USB for my HiFi system. Nevertheless I ended up using DAC Blackface in my HiFi, and Silverface in studio. I had interesting direct comparing recently. A thunder burned my old DAC, so, I connected Silverface to my network player. Everything was fine, except RME played much, much better than my old DAC. So I decided to buy DAC Blackface to replace my old DAC. I found one used with AKM chip. When I connected it to optical output of my network player but it refused to give any sound out and to recognise optical input. Returned Silverfae - everything worked. Tried Blackface with another source - everything was normal. So, only thing what courd be wrong was the optical cable. Replaced it and Blackface started to work normally. So, where are differencies between them so Silverface worked with a dabaged cable without a problem, but Blackface DAC refused to work?

Any experience on how SPL Phonitor ONE do against this one?

I have a Rme Adi-2 DAC FS which has unbalanced headphones output. Is there any way to make it balanced somehow by connecting any external device? If yes, can you recommend any make and model and how can I connect it ?

Does the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition support mic inputs? I have a couple guitars and microphones I'd like to use with just one device to work with rather than a myriad of devices in my small studio space.

im in need of a mastering converter for outboard processing. Im considering the AiD-2 FS silver box since I will only be piping ADAT from my current interface to pass the 2 bus master. Are the converters the same as in the FSR? I dont want to pay extra for the DSP if I dont need it, although I hear the NOS filter is amazing on that unit. Also I should be able to run stereo out of the FS to my main monitors that are powered correct? id love to listen through the unit while I mix as well. thanks so much

noob question?! .. can I plug other 'normal' headphones (like Focal Clear or LCD-X) into the IEM output with the same quality (or better? ) as the 1/4 jack?

the RME ADI-2 DAC fs is what interest me, so many things on one small box, and the eq is just what i want, but it has the same problem as my current multi box system, balanced output to poweramp and main speaker, then unbalanced to subwoofer. how is RME handling those two outputs with eq? separate eq for the two when used as preamp? or does it only affect one of them, since i am sure in the videos or maybe it was a review they said high pass filter for main speaker, but that only works if the other output to subwoofer is not affected.

I have the Rme babyface pro fs I'm thinking about buying the ADI-2 Pro to use it for mixing and mastering my question is if I do this is the quality I'm going to get out of the ADI-2 pro going to be better than just having the baby face for both mixing and mastering?

RME, is there a noticeable difference in quality in A/D conversion between the ADI-2 Pro FS and the ADI-2 FS? I already own 2 of your ADI-2 DACs (love them!) and I'm looking for a clean A/D converter.. I know the ADI-2 Pro is your flagship model, but for just a simple A/D conversion for mixing/mastering with no other features needed, would it be overkill vs. the ADI-2 FS? Thank you in advance!

The ADI-2 FS is the cheapest, and i would need an audio interface to record guitar, synth, mic, and also digitalizing vinyl records. Do i need more then its 192khz sample rate, should i buy the much more expensive new flagship models, or i could manage with this one? one of my friends told me that the difference in sample rates and technology between the two generations are not audible for the human ear. now i use an UAD apollo twin with a cheaper and cheap sounding allen and heath mixer (xone 22) and a technics sl 1200 mk2

Are the analog inputs also suitable for a guitar signal? Because of this!!! The ADI-2 Pro has two analog line inputs that can operate with levels up to +24 dBu. The electronic input stage uses a servo balanced design which handles unbalanced (TS jacks) and balanced signals (TRS / XLR) correctly, automatically adjusting the level reference. When using unbalanced cables with the XLR inputs, pin 3 of the XLR jack should be connected to ground. Otherwise noise may occur, caused by the unconnected negative input of the balanced input.

I think that you should use AKM4499 chips and better Isolation Feet(same as ADI-2 DAC) for next generation ADI-2 Pro.

Yeah so many ADI 2 PRO device out there, RME change it almost any year. I have the original ADI 2 PRO, then came the aniversary edition, then the ADI 2 PRO FS, now we are at ADI 2 PRO FS-R AND ADI 2 FS... com'on! We would have expected a New USB 3 interface... The UCX has almost 12 years already... Have you decide to only developpe network interface and Hifi dac...? Strange strategy. You should at least be occupied with PCIe 4, thunderbolt 3 and USB 3 audio interfaces...
