I really feel this is the trainer version of the TS9. A bit heavier, more generous upper, and more durable rubber on the outsole. The TS9 is the dedicated racer for 5k/10k that many marathoners use for speedwork.

I managed to snag a pair for $128 CAD (full price $230) and it was cheaper than I would have paid for the adios 8. I find that it's durable enough to be used for all my speed sessions and my races.

I really like the adios 6 that I am currently using for all my workouts. It is slowly reaching it's lifespan so I will be buying 8 as soon as they get discounted. I would love Takumi but I don't really like to do workouts in carbon so Adios 8 seems like a perfect fit. What I love the most in Adios is what you mentioned, that immidiate feedback when your form degrades so you need to constantly remind yourself to run properly.

When I started running I had a couple of pairs of the Adios 3 then a pair of Adios 4s which I enjoyed right up until the point where I discovered shoes with more cushioning and I moved away from Adidas for a while. Nowadays I’m firmly back in the Adidas camp but I do all of my running in the Adios Pro 3 or Prime X’s (I’m not a fast runner but both work for me). It’s good to see that Adidas have kept the Adios 8 true to what it always was (unlike sometimes where a name just gets re-used but the product changes beyond recognition) but my days of running in shoes of it’s like are over

I'm a 5k to half-marathon racer and I love the Adios 7 for speed training, I love the ground contact they give. I use (and try to save) the Takumi Sen 8 for racing, so I think they pair up as trainer / racer. I 'm looking forward to try the 8's when the 7's need replacement.

This is almost exactly what I was about to post. I love the Takumi Sen 8 for racing/track work, and I think the Adios is a more comfortable, versatile (albeit fast and minimal) daily trainer. They go well together in my rotation.

Adios 8 is my favorite shoe of the year and I use it for daily training (6-8 miles). I like this low to the ground feel and how light it is. after 100 miles it also looks much more durable than the v.6-7 which started to have holes after like 50 miles for me. I like the new foam - no break-in period (as it happened to v.6-7). I currently use this shoe for almost most of my daily runs, and TS 8 for speed workouts.

Like you, I'm a huge fan of the of the Takumi Sen 8 and look forward to picking up the 9 at some point. I also picked up a good as new pair of Adios 6 for a steal on Vinted. The A8 looks to have similar DNA to the 6 and 7. I do a lot of my regular running in the Adios now, maybe it's my age but I don't find it too low to the ground for daily runs, even long runs. I do go up tempo, particularly when I want the training effect without the energy rods of the Takumi Sen and a bit more room in the toe. So I guess it goes to show, there's crossovers for different people in different shoes.

Picked up a pair of these last week and enjoyed the first 800m interval session I did with them. But then I took them out for a 22k training run at marathon pace and they actually felt great throughout the run-sufficient padding to feel comfortable for half marathon distance and the light weight helps prevent my feet from feeling too heavy later in the run. So now I’m actually considering using them for racing my half marathon next month. The only concern was that I already saw noticeable creasing in the foam after just 30km in them, so hope they hold up alright. Maybe it’s because I’m a heavier runner coming in around 88kgs

Always itching to buy the Adios, but can't find a spot for them in my rotation. I use the Boston for training, Takumi Sen for Tempo work as well as 5k,10k,21k racing, and Adios P3 for Marathon and ultras. In my opinion the Takumi can do everything that this shoe can?

I ran Boston 2019 in the boost version of thr adios and I loved it. I picked up the Adios 6 or 7 on steep discount and hated it. Possibly it was the 6 but it was slappy sounding, the ride just felt off. Like it should feel faster but instead felt clunky. Maybe they've fixed that but I was not a fan of it. I do love thr Adios Pro 3 though!

the adios series is perfect for me because i dont like training in carbon, whether its a plate or rods. a low to the ground, non-carbon shoe i can bring to the track for 200/400m intervals all the way to miles at threshold is perfect. for reference, i've been using the NB 1400v6 for years now

Yep, you nailed it. Using a Comic analogy, in the Adidas "multi-Universe" some of their legacy shoes suddenly "branched out" and morphed into a "variant" or a deviation with some experimental features, etc. The most prominent examples are the "Boston 10" abomination, the SL experimentation, & the Adizero Adios 6 that many of us considered the real "Boston". So to your point, while I loved the new Adizero Adios 6 & 7, once the Takumi came out and fell in love with it, I asked myself the same question: Why Adios when Takumi is awesome & performs/feels much better? Too many confusing choices from the Adidas lineup

Upper and fit is way better than the vaporfly next 2. more comfortable and stable as well. Lower to the ground but the rocker geometry is not aggressive making it feel like you have more stack up front in the last phase of the toe off. Being a high cadence mid/forefoot runner, I don’t mind the low( old school ) stack height.

i have an adios 5 pair and use it this year together with modern shoes and they feel so much that they belong in the past. It was once cool to have a pair of extra light shoes with very thin sole, but these days with all those light supershoes with thick foams and rods, fast running is much more fun and your muscles are very protected. I m glad though that these types of shoes still exist, it could be good to feel the load on your body every now and then. Still, I would not buy them anymore

Despite popular opinion/reviews, the Adios 6/7 (forgot which one I had) never worked for me. Maybe it was the midsole materials, the wedged LSP, the geometry, or the combination of those factors. It felt harsh and clunky and gave me pain physically as well as mentally every time I took them for a run, four times in total. Given the miserable experience, the moment I saw the Adios 8 I knew immediately this is gonna be a major improvement and a shoe I definitely want to try. The midsole looks so much more streamlined and fluid, the forefoot LSP is a whole slab in stead of a wedge, lightstrike 2 has been tuned to be softer, super lightweight upper and the price? Man I'm excited to say the least.
@io-rj6sk
@io-rj6sk 5 месяцев назад
howd it go?
@Dwyane1st
@Dwyane1st 5 месяцев назад
@@io-rj6sk hate to say it but still disappointed. In part due to the outrageous sizing of it. The adios 8 runs very large, combined with the incredibly roomy toe box, my size 9 felt like a 10, even 10.5. When the sizing is off like this my feet simply weren't in the correct position within the shoe so couldn't take full advantage of the LSP. And while the LSP is a full slab here instead of a wedge like in the previous version, it felt better, but still on the firm side. Like, I've been wearing the adios pro 2 and the prime x, the LSP on those felt much better than the adios 8. However for a racing flat kinda shoe I think it's plenty good enough. After all I think the adios 8 should've been a great shoe for me but Adidas's sizing has been all over the place this year. What a missed opportunity. I strongly suggest you try them in store to get the sizing right, especially if you've got skinny feet.

@Dwyane1st
@Dwyane1st 5 месяцев назад
@@io-rj6sk couldn't be bothered😂 so I also have the rebel v3 and I absolutely love it. I got them in size 9 as well, but they're definitely on the snug side for me and I've got pretty standard feet, not wide, not too skinny. I mean if I put on some 'more cushioned' socks it can get pretty snug, especially in the toe. I'd always reference Nike's sizing cuz they're usually consistent and accurate. I'm a pretty spot on Nike size 9, or 270mm foot length. So if you're trying to get these, I'd say try them on first😂 but if you couldn't, depends on how you feel in the rebels and your foot shape. If you feel very comfortable, not snug in any way, chances are you haven't got very meaty/wide feet, so a 9 probably would be ok for you length wise. If not and you've got wide or meaty feet, a 9 would probably also work for you because of the roomy toe box. A 9.5 would be for extreme cases. With all that said, it's purely based on my personal experience and you should really try them on first, especially when the sizing is all over the place😂

the A8 is a throwback to the pre super shoe era. it reminds me of the adios made with boost. i use it for easy-moderate daily miles, despite how the shoe is marketed and positioned, and love the feedback it gives. i'm lanky and lightweight which probably helps. there are not many shoes like the A8 out right now, and if it disappeared, the running shoe market would be lesser for it. Adios 8 and Takumi Sen might look the same but they are in two different price category. Also, the fit and intended use case is different too. It's nice to have options and Adidas offers premium foam at that price range whereas other shoe brands like asics don't even consider using a drop of premium foam on their so called 'speed trainers' (I'm looking at you magic speed). Not to mention they even charge way more than Adidas does which is absolute insanity. I don't know about Boston 12 but Adios 8 is certainly a big hit. I use the Adios 7 for speed-work and racing (got a HM PR this year in them), but the one thing I really do not like is how narrow it is in the midfoot. I like the adios 6/7 quite a bit but it is a little over-firm in the rear which is an issue on long strep downhill. It’s pretty comfortable at all paces and I’m not super fast or anything. The Takumi Sen 8 is much less stable and requires more ankle strength to stabilize. I have size 13 feet and the shoe weight can be really significant and scale weirdly at my size. The Boston 10 was 375g for example but an Adios 7 is 266g. A 100g weight swing is huge. Anything over 300g is really a lot less fun to strap on and run in. (But a Boston 10/11 is very stiff which is great for if you have to heal a fractured foot.) My all time favorite road shoe was the Nike Streak 6/7. The Adios 6/7 has been ok but not as versatile as the Streak was. I think the Adios 8 may hit the sweet spot for me - which probably means Adidas will cancel it.

Could be interesting with an video on, how your current rotation right now would look, if you didnt have to review new shoes. So imagine you got 3 months of training, what would your rotation look like, e.g. a recovery and or slow, a tempo, a race, and at least one trail shoe.

It may feel the same niche but imho Adios 8 is clearly the TS9 trainer. It has thicker outsole. It has more midsole material delivering a little more stability. It should last much longer then TS9. Seems Adidas thinks performance runners splited at 5k - 10k and 21k or more (Boston and Adios Pro).
@kofuzi
@kofuzi 11 месяцев назад
It makes sense to me in theory. But I just have a hard time envisioning someone putting both the TS9 and the Adios 8 in the same rotation. Like, how many 400m repeats are you doing that you can’t do your sessions and race 5ks in the same shoe?
@recguerra3

Hey @Kofuzi I just did my first run at Boston 12 and... it's another beast from B11 (I have 200k at it). It's Lightstrike 2.0 is much softer then the B11's Lightstrike. I have uses for both of them. I'm heavy, so too soft midsole means max compressing (specially when heel striking), and then a bit firmer midsoles work good to me. And B11 has a bit more structure and stability then B12. I know lots of people hates B10 and B11, but even with softer B12 I'll keep rotating with B11. You should definitely check B12.
@recguerra3
@recguerra3 10 месяцев назад
5 days later I wonder... will Adidas dare to put Lightstrike 2.0 at Adidas SL (which has a LS Pro in a front foot poket )? That would be something.... Or maybe keep SL harder and as a more brickish memory of B10 and B11 directions .. who knows? 💪🇧🇷😁
