I remember the commercial with Kobe and these shoes. I thought man those are cool looking. I had to beg my grandma to get me a pair. Thankfully she got me the black pair and I loved them. They arrived the day before a basketball camp I was attending and man I was on cloud 9. About 7 or 6 years ago I got the black and purple pair. I will say the lock down for me isn't the best and I am too scared to play in them again. So I just pick them up from time to time and think about the day I got them in.
Mr Bryant. I recall in those days, I started looking for adidas shoes in my country, most notably, Kobe, because this youth was dynamic, along with his shoes.
This and crazy 8 was (and still) my favorite adidas basketball shoes, 97 - 98 was the best era of adidas basketball shoes imo. Before that i only notice nike and reebok.
I had these exact shoes and the exact white colorway! I played in these as my first real basketball shoes outdoors back in the Philippines. I loved them! I cleaned them after every use as it got really dirty playing outside in the streets of manila so I would scrub them down with water and laundry soap after every use. I miss these shoes and I definitely would buy a pair when they come out. Hopefully they come out in Canada.
Played in these back in the day and loved them! I went to TTS back in the day. It's kind of a funny story how I stumbled on these too. My housemate was moving back to Alaska and he left them. Hahaha. Real excited to see Adidas bringing this back. I will definitely cop a pair.
Shock Dropped in the PH last month.. Was fortunate enough to cop a pair.. Sold out in minutes.. Retailed for 6500Php. Always been wanting to have a pair of these colorway since H.S. Hope they release the Crazy 8s in the all star colorway.. 🙏
An absolutely great shoe especially for outdoor ball. One of the few pairs that I doubled up on due to the discounted price back during the original release.
Those are beautiful, that white colorway is also the same that Kobe wore in the adidas commercial for the shoe. I have that same purple retro, they're very fun to play and, with the right insole (I wore the Crazy 8 thick rubber insole every time with these and made them way more comfortable) they're beasts for outdoor hoops.

this was my first ever basketball shoe. my uncle made me choose between pippen’s signature and this one. i chose this one because it looked so good with my grade school uniform. 😂
I remember wanting these and only one store in the area I live in had them and only one pair in my size because they had to dig for them in the back. My parents wouldn't even entertain buying them or helping me buy them for HS basketball because they were "pricey". So I got the new Converse after the Allstar2000s and they were terrible. But a year later we happened to be by that store and they had a huge inventory sale and low and be hold that one pair sz13 was still there, snatched them up and paid for them before my dad saw them. Lol, ended up one of my favorite pair shoes.
3 colorway was released here in PH just this April and May. I was lucky enough to have bought the white one as it got sold out immediately just like the purple, but the all star cw took awhile before it was sold out

Ayeeeee!!!! I remember a few years back I was going to pick these up in a 76ers colorway. I took too long though and didn’t get them in times love these
I had the black OGs back in '98. Copped them from the clearance rack at Sports Authority for $50. The fit was amazing and they were comfortable as hell to play in. I was probably 160 then, so they're great for lightweight players. I couldn't hoop in them now. I'm like 230 and they don't have much impact protection.
I was just looking at my black pair which are still wearable to this day, and looks like they had the adidas man on the tongue which is cool I miss that guy
I scored a pair in 98 on a trip to Japan, OG Purples! always thought they purples didnt release so I was pleasantly surprised when I found a pair in Tokyo. But damn near broke my ankle in it a month later when I stepped on someone's foot coming down for a rebound...OH the original had the Adidas and the Feet you wear logo not the 8!!!
The purple colorway released first then the white one here in the Philippines. i'm one of the fortunate ones who were able to cop the slam dunk colorway. Sure this one hella of a headturner pair from the 90s
love those...use to play on those white ones...the dunk colorway was so hard to get during that era because of the dunk contest...those are solid shoes...you know our courts in the Philippines...

got the purple one back in March (2022). they were released here in our country in that month - got sold out quick! I haven't worn my pair though. hahaha
I use to call the lakers colorway the 8 balls. Rip mamba. They have a pair dropping on Adidas confirm today, I entered the raffle on end clothing app too
I had these in high school! I can’t tell from the video but it seems like the three stripes is just a plain plastic material? On the originals the stripes had 3m reflective material under clear plastic.
Awesomeness!! Had the Kobe’s Adidas but not those ones. Similar though. Not a bad shoe to hoop in outside on the playground where I spent most of days! Lol
The first Adidas (Antoine Walker's) Kobe briefly rocked were super underrated... These are cool looking and I also liked the 1st KB8, The Kobe (Audi ones) but the rest of Kobe's Adidas models were pretty much trash. But for me personally, the whole 'Feet you Wear' tech was terrible and used to just KILL my 1st MTP joint.
Hopefully adidas gets their act together on releases because on multiple shoes I've had to get them from hibbett or some other retailer cause they never appeared on the Adidas website.
do you think they are not releasing in US could be due to extension on nike-kobe contract? i remember vannesa promoted in her IG one of wnba players wearing adidas kobe prior that extension but havent heard again after that. maybe these adidas kobe were not supposed to be released overseas but somehow stores accidentally sold them
