There are 4 "beats" in a bar with the first beat of a bar sometimes exaggerated to make it more obvious. Imagine it was only a drum beat going dum bum bum bum on repeat. Each beat is the same time apart. Once you get into it a bit it's ways to find the beat in music with different speeds and more things going on. You know you got it when your nodding your head and the drums play something or something plays a new note etc. Hope this kinda made sense
