There's a new version of this thing coming in a couple of weeks. The Hadley Branch...taller bridge.

In answer to the Brian Saber question, I will say it's a difficult one. The south leg out of Hadley Luzerne has the most spectacular bridge, compared to the bridge on the north leg. The south leg also has some close up views of small vacation cabin communities. The north leg takes you up to the edge of full on wilderness and the stop over is along the wild Boreas River. I'd say it's almost a tie, but the Hadley Luzerne bridge wins by a whisker compared to the bridge over the Hudson on the north trip. Very close. Neither is way ahead of the other. Just different.

Wow this looks amazing and so much fun. Great video. I would love to visit one day. The outdoors and nature and woods, I love it. Meanwhile I'm stuck here in the concrete jungle of Dubai lol. Ps - Are there any wild animals in the woods? Because its looks so isolated and off grid.
@calvertthedad
@calvertthedad 3 года назад
Generally speaking there aren't any animals in the Adirondack woods that you need to worry about. Florida has alligators which on occasion leap out of ponds in the dark. Africa has lions and cape buffalo and bull male elephants. Much of the tropics has poisonous snakes. The are a couple of bears, lots of deer, once in a blue moon moose, but you could wander around the Adirondack wilderness for years and never have a belligerent encounter with a wild animal. Plenty of squirrels and chipmunks. And yes parts of it are isolated and off the grid. But that's a charming feature...not something to be feared.

Boy wasn't she trusting them to stop. I can honestly say I would have been standing on the side not in front of them. You just never know. Magnificent🤣👌

How often were you able to just stop, take pictures and take it all in? Or...do they discourage that so people behind you don't get impatient if they have to wait for you to keep moving along?
@calvertthedad
@calvertthedad 3 года назад
They do tend to encourage you to move along. However, each pedal car is about 100 yards apart. If you want to stop and have someone get a snap shot of the others sitting on the tracks, that should be no problem. An extended stop with some wandering through the woods, probably won't work. If you take the North leg there's some natural halts right on the bridge as the Rev Rail people take your cameras and get shots of you. Everybody lines up. Plenty of time to admire the river and look around. It's not too push-push, but you're definitely not on your own clock.

Fantastic video, thank you so much for sharing. It is a huge park, we live in the southern most portion.

This looks amazing! Which route is this? North Bridge?
@calvertthedad
@calvertthedad 3 года назад
The excursion we took is the northern one, which Revolution Rail calls their "North Bridge" excursion presumably because it crosses a nice high bridge over the Hudson near the top end of the journey. It's probably a good idea to check the Revolution Rail website for their planned routes and how you access them, and other details about the trips. This video was shot two year ago. At that time they picked people up by bus at the North Creek station, and took them to a start point near the Hamlet of North River just off Route 28. I stopped in at the North Creek station in the summer of 2020, but did not do the ride, but they had TWO excursion paths going. One started at the North Creek station and headed south for a couple of miles, and the North River start point was their second excursion offering as near as I could tell. That's the one referred to as "North Bridge".

Which company is this ride conducted by? We just went on a bike rail ride on the Adirondacks this morning....there was no bridge over a river🤔
@calvertthedad
@calvertthedad 3 года назад
Did you travel out of the railroad station at North Creek NY? If you took the southern trip, there is no large spectacular bridge. The company is Revolution Rail LLC. They do two trips anchored more or less around the North Creek station. One departs from the station and heads south (minus the giant bridge) The other one departs some distance north of North Creek and goes over the bridge seen in the video. The company hosts another trip out of Hadley NY that runs to the south. That one goes over a 90 foot high bridge over the Sacandaga River, soon to be a video on this channel.

Is this area privately owned or can people run their own rail carts on these tracks?
@calvertthedad
@calvertthedad 3 года назад
If I'm not mistaken the rails and the right of way are owned by Warren County, NY or perhaps some sub-division of the county. They grant/lease the right to use the corridor to Revolution Rail. You would need permission to drag your own rail-riding device up there, otherwise I guess technically you'd be guilty of trespassing. There are federal regulatory agencies that also hold sway over what happens up there, and I wouldn't be surprised if some state agencies have a say too.

now to make a really cool video would be to hoock a long rope on a passing train and let it tow a trail bike but five times the speed is it too much to handle , speed wobble, could it be designed for it , maybe rubber in rope for easy start , risk of stepping into rope loop , helmet , armour , ejection seat, parachute , airbags for falling to side, paddings or air filled , even a safety cage or shell, but detachable from bike. how about a giant ball rolling o the tracks , pulled by train. ball of branches or plastic or rods pipes. and guy inside on a chair on side bearings . . or like could use an old car pulled behind train w normal wheels on side of trracks or no rubber and iron wheels on track , but rubber coating inside them. or rope and parachute fly benind train. any of those ideas can be very dangerous but some might be rather safe maybe if well designed and done. some choose some danger risk for fun, its popular on youtube like skydiving . or wings from airplane attatched to old car pulled on wire behind train till it flies. in sstrong headwind like a kite. ...

When I was 18 me and my buds used to think along this line. Then when about 80% of those same buds managed to low side their motorcycles and survive, you start thinking differently.
