Awesome video!!! This is such cool concept. I love how he's thinking so differently. You hit every single thought and addressed every concern. That's such a thorough review with great feedback. I can tell you're thinking as a consumer, and the questions you'd have if you were watching a video.

I think I still even have questions 🤣 it's a cool razor but I would appreciate more reference points for sure! Thank you for tuning in and always sharing your thoughts my friend!

Thanks so much for the comment my friend. I spent a some time thinking through this design, and I love how simple it functions - but without a reference point, it's hard to find your sweet spot day to day. Adjusting on the fly is a bit sketchy when it's slippery too, so adding some references lines could dual as grip..just some thoughts I had. Thanks again for tuning in and for sharing your feedback!

That really is an interesting concept for a razor. I agree some sort of markings would be helpful. Mike is doing some really cool stuff and I have been checking out his products lately. Great video as always!

He said he would figure out how to do adjustable exposure - I think he did it - and did it in a simple yet effective manner. The biggest issue I think is it feels unfinished, more like a baseline prototype. It's a great shave but probably one that most people would find to be too much effort to get. Several moving parts, lack of reference lines, and TONS of adjustment all could be intimidating for the typical shaver (at least that's my thoughts). Looking at just the shave...it's fantastic, so I do think it's got merit - but I think it could be improved overall 👍 Thanks again for watching my friend!

Very good Josh! It's a very interesting design and I've been looking at it as well as his other offerings. I actually was thinking of getting his other DE head that is more aggressive than the standard, but does't get to the max on this one. My thoughts on this one is that Mike should combine this idea with the Stomper and make it into an adjustable SE. I also like your idea with the markings on the side so you know exactly where you're at. There also might be a simple way of adjusting the gap and exposure independently. Maybe notches in two plates so they lock in a position. Kind of the problem with the Tatara is that the gap and exposure worked together so you couldn't get a just little more exposure with a big gap. Like any good idea it takes some evolutions to become great and I think he's onto something here. Have an awesome day Josh!

Like the Supreme Adjustable - totally agree on the Tatara, I just haven't been able to word it as well as you!!! Exactly this!! They can't be independent! Honestly the way I'm using this razor - it is basically going to become a SE, so I totally am with the idea, I'll pass that along 👍 Thanks so much for watching my friend!

Awesome pictures and intro. Awesome lather as always. That is one scary razor and seems a little too fiddly for me. He should make it a single edge version. Have a great week buddy

Yeahhhh I worry that is the case for many people - 3 pieces all moving independently for most people would be an instant no go. Thanks for tuning in Mike!!

Do you remember , late last year ,that adjustable with an incremental dial on the bottom of the razor head that Mike had on his website as a CAD drawing? I thought it was going to be a future release, do you know what happened with its development and why it never saw the light of day?

Indo vaguely remember this Rayban, but I am unsure what happened with it. Still has it up? instagram.com/p/Cx27-LyrShk/?igsh=MXRic2dpczhtdmI0Ng== Probably something that took more effort and he wanted to see if there was interest - he told me it's been pretty slow and he wasn't sure he'd continue to make it.

for max exposure setting, you seemed to shave at a quit steep angle by riding the sb. with the slight bending of the blade. it is as if you are scraping instead of shaving. wouldn't that be very uncomfortable? my observation might be wrong. Thanks!
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves Месяц назад
Not a bad question, but If it was scraping there would have been blood and irritation. I tend to ride the bar with all razors, but with this one, it's just where it felt smoothness to me 👍 max exposure definitely takes some adjustment!

thanks for the quick clarification. is it in general, for a same razor head geometry, it is smoother by riding the sb with the larger blade gap? I am still learning the wet shaving technique. Thanks

If this is to be used with a full de blade, one edge is going to be mild and the other agressive? I can't figure out the way it adjust.... doesn't make sence to me.. I'm a complete newbie so I won't be surprised if I missed somthing 😂 I'm on the hunt for my first adjustable de, would love to hear your thoughts as a fellow headshaver, seems like all reviews are from poeple with hair on their head!
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves 4 месяца назад
You're correct - one side will be mild the other really aggressive - or you can line it up in the middle and have a more neutral adjustable razor. Honestly, fellow baldy to the other, start with a easier - more commonly used Adjustable razor and then come back. There are a plethora of very good adjustable razors for the $ - and by that time, maybe Mike will have made a few updates to make this slightly more user friendly. Just my honest opinion here.

@@SubieShaves Let's say on a ~70$ budget, what is your recomandations? I here good things about the pearl flexi but the weight scares me.. also looking on the vintage gillette slim..
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves 4 месяца назад
@itamarnachum3124 Here's some thoughts - all at 70 or less - thanks for the question and for the support! Plate System - Rockwell 6C (build quality may differ, some quality control issues have been discussed). 6S is the same way....but lifetime material. Parker Variant/ Open Comb Variant - Exceptional but not made of lifetime materials on the head. Great starter razor IMHO. Would be an easy way to start adjustable razors. YAQI Final Cut (or Ultima used) - I find I get the best shaves with an updated Rex Ambassador spring but descent as is. Really like this one for the $ but lifetime materials will cost more. Again - older models had adjustment issues. Pearl makes a great razor, brass is a quality material. It is HEFTY and that alone may be a deal breaker. I've managed to disassemble mine and lighten it (and polish it), but it's not something that'll be easy (or recommended by them) Take this for what it's worth, just one guys slightly jaded experience... I will get some flak for this, but my honest opinion, ALL Vintage Razors should ONLY be bought from quality sources, or, that can be looked at in person. I have spent thousands of dollars now on Vintage razors that do not operate correctly - and sellers can be very misleading. Buy knowing that you may end up with an inoperable Razor. These things are 60-70 years old in some cases- they may not work. Mechanisms can fail or need full refurbishing which can be very spendy. The Slims, the Fat boys, the Black Beautys are great shaves - if you understand how they work, have one with good tuning, and that clamps the blade right. Too many times I've heard and seen the advice to new shavers "go get a vintage razor" when that is actually challenging for someone who really doesn't know if the razor is working correctly. Can you save $ that way? It's a gamble. Most the time it is ok...but it's rough when it's not - and in some cases kills the Interest in the hobby.

@@SubieShaves Thank you for the most detailed response! I appreciate it a lot. The point you make on vintage razors is very true, I didn't think about it that way. I'll keep researching and soon hope to find the right option. Keep up the vibe and fun reviews, you helped me decide on my first purchase, Henson++, and you keep my eyes open on the hunt for more 😄

Love Mike, but that looks tooooo risky. Don’t see why I would want to have the risk of cutting my finger or thumb. Lines might be good, but I was hoping the handle twist would dial the adjustment plate. Didn’t realize it would be a push with your finger adjustment😢 still innovative but a pass for me🤷🏼‍♂️
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves 4 месяца назад
Baba!! Good to hear from you - totally understand the risky, sketchy, and fiddly issue. I also would like to see that handle twist dial like the original template showed. Again - I think this was a base design and test Interest - conceptually I like the razor, but I do think some type of reference points are needed for it to be a true adjustable razor. Thank you for watching!
