Hello, this is Rob, from Intermatic tech support. Today we are going to talk about the STO1 and EI600. The STO1 and EI600 have an astronomic feature which allows you to set it for sunset and sunrise. We are going to show you how to adjust those times as well as set those times for a program for ON and OFF.
We’re going to start by bringing down up the flap. Grab something sharp or a fingernail and flip down the flap.
1. Press the MODE button until you get to PGM.
2. Press ON/OFF once. It will flash your first program (01). Press the ON/OFF button once. It will tell you what this program does, whether it is an ON, OFF, or if the program is currently in skip.
3. Press the plus button to move it to an ON for DUSK. Hit the ON/OFF button once. This will let you choose whether you want this program to turn ON at DUSK, turn on at 12:00, or a time, or turn ON at DAWN. For this demonstration, we are going to choose DUSK.
4. Press ON/OFF again to choose the days you want the timer to function. This timer will be functioning every day for this demonstration. If you want to change that, hit the + or - buttons.
5. Press ON/OFF button one more time. SAVE will flash on the screen and then the program will start flashing. NOTE: Every program is either an ON or an OFF. So one program we are going to have as DUSK, and then our next program, 02, will be our DAWN, or OFF time.
6. We’ll do the same thing to set this program. Press ON/OFF and you’ll select whether it’s an ON, OFF, or SKIP. For demonstration purposes, this is going to be an OFF. Hit the ON/OFF button again. This defaults to DAWN. We are going to change that to a fixed time OFF. Press ON/OFF again and you’ll see a default to a 12:00 p.m. time. We will change that to a 12:00 a.m. for a midnight OFF time. Be very careful when setting this unit that you are in an a.m. or p.m. time, depending on when you want your lights to shut OFF. The a.m. and p.m. are on your right hand side.
7. Press ON/OFF again and you’ll be able to change your minutes.
8. Press ON/OFF again and you’ll be able to select your days - ALL, Monday through Friday, WeeKenD, or just one day out of the week.
9. Press ON/OFF to SAVE your work. - Press MODE to display AUTO.
You can close the flap and you are good to go. Thanks for watching! Be sure to leave any questions or comments below.

This is a helpful video., which is a contrast to the written instructions that are unclear and needlessly confusing. This is my first Intermatic timer and is replacing a Defiant brand that in my opinion did a much better job of sequencing the programming. Tomorrow, I’ll try the Intermatic for the 4th time with this video right beside me. If I mess up again, it’s going back. Keeping my fingers crossed!

The explanation on the video was very clear. The written instructions less so. Suggest that a reference to the "you-tube" video be put in the written directions. It is not clear that each program has to correspond to an "on" or "off" event. Thank you

This is a simple to program wall switch timer; However, as Rob from intermatic cautioned, on an off are considered to be separate events. If on is program 1, then off becomes program 2 and vice versa.. I spent repeated tries programming on- dusk and off- dawn as a single program .DON'T DO THAT! The rest of the prompts are pretty clear. The saved message after you have completed a selection is very fast and temporary. It's an efficient and reliable timer from Intermatic; Intermatic please revise the written directions to reflect this. It's easy when you know how.

Thank you for the verbal instructions. Written instructions and actual design are bad.

The worst. This may be the LEAST user friendly timer I've ever seen. Can't believe the desinger was SO incompetent. Thanks for the walk through though.

I agree. I purchased 3 Auto adjusting timers, 2 from Defiant and 1 from Intermatic. The Defiant's setup and programming was way more logical. Each program has both a on and off time. I think the thing that is confusing for me with the Intermatic is that each program has but ONE "on" or ONE "off" so Prg1 is to set the "on" time and Prg2 must be set for the "off" time... at least I hope that is what should work...will still wait til tonight to see if they actually work...it is my third try. My wife thinks this is all quite funny... I do not.

I would like to know if I can install this timer on an inside wall outlet and piggyback to a exterior wall outlet to control a flag light astronomically avoiding constant resetting of dusk to dawn on/off?

My timer has reset to 12a.m. a number of timed disabling the exterior lights that the timer controls. We did not have any power outages that might have triggered this. i am trying to determine the cause. The timer is only 15 months old and i am using the original lithium battery. Any idea as to why this reset keeps happening?

Hello, If you are controlling a relay or contactor a noise filter needs to be installed -- such as our ET-NF. If this is not the case, please reach out to our Technical Support Team through www.intermatic.com/en/support, they'll be happy to assist you with this issue.

How I can change the battery?

What does astronomic mean? I have to keep resetting the times for Dawn and dusk?
@IntermaticIncorporated
@IntermaticIncorporated 3 года назад
Hello, An astronomic timer will determine the sun's daily rise and set times based on your location. For example, if you wanted your timer to turn on each night when the sun sets, it will adjust itself accordingly when the days get shorter during the winter and longer during the summer - without you needing to change the ON time. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our Technical Support Team at 815-675-7000 or TechSupport@intermatic.com.

I see that the unit is referred to as a 7-day timer. What happens if you're going to be out of town for two weeks? Does it turn off after 7 days, or does it go back to day one and start over?
@IntermaticIncorporated
@IntermaticIncorporated 6 лет назад
Roger, A 7 day timer will always repeat its schedule every 7 days.
