I think you need mud guards as well, especially on the back wheel. Otherwise in wet weather you’ll arrive at work with a nice strip on your back. I would like a phone mount for directions.

Has anyone used a child seat on one of these? I really like it, we're looking for something compact for our VW camper, but we have a 3 year old, we'd like to ride around with.

On the indiegogo you can buy the fenders and back rack package for 99 euros if you are pledging a bike
@LostYogi

The Indigogo campaign was a SCAM. ADO gave 40% off 2999,- euros, but now that it's in the ADO store the price is only 2199,- it doesn't take anything from the bike, but we as consumers should not support ADO campaigns. If you want one, they have a summer discount so the final price is 1999,- euros (only 200 euros shy of the Indigogo price)

Can you compare it to the Ado Air 20? Is the riding experience similar, do you feel a difference in weight and in what way, which one would you prefer if the rear rack wasn't important to you?

I think the air 20 carbon weighs at least 14.5kg, Not much different from air 20.

Air Carbon is 12.5kg per the manufacturer, presumably that's with battery, but as you could see, there are no amenities in the package. The Air 20 instead starts at 16kg net, and depending on accessories and SKUs, it can get up to 21kg... so the rack aside, which is part of the deal for Carbon model's €100+ mudguards with integrated rack setup, and the kickstand aside, which it seems they've not thought of/about earlier and you cannot get easily cheap 3rd party replacements due to missing mountpoints, you need to consider if you want something light without key features or something with useful components couple kilos weightier... Plus, you need to factor that apparently the Carbon's frame dimensions have changed a bit compared to previous aluminium SKUs: stand-over height rose by 5cm if I recall the diagrams, and more importantly minimum seat height is 25cm above stand-over at minimum of 90cm... or over 15cm higher than the aluminium predecessors... I tried to get some tester to measure minimum and maximum seat heights and verify manufacturer claims, as they are using the exact same seatpost battery design across the stack and yet on aluminium ones you seat 15cm above stand-over and in the carbon one it's 25cm of a difference... maybe someone measured it wrong at the ADO R&D centre, and the reality is more like 75-80cm, but the 90cm minimum may be considered a problem by many lower height individuals preferring to reach the ground whilst sitting on the saddle, eg at road crossing or traffic lights...

@@marcin_karwinski Thank you for the detailed response. Accessories are not important to me; I need a bike that will be portable and practical in various conditions. I might consider getting mudguards eventually. Considering it's for the last 5 kilometers of my commute to work (out of a total of 55 km in one way), the Carbon model combines everything I was interested in - it seems to have a good range (although I noticed that this hasn't been thoroughly tested in the reviews so far), it will be very lightweight (I'd love to see the scale :) ), and it's foldable so I can take it in the trunk, train, or tram... Personally, I prefer these larger dimensions because I'm taller myself. I've already pre-ordered mine because I've concluded that it won't get any cheaper than this (unit-d-16-f-one-capital-place-18-luard.kckb.me/7b9b5b68 ).
@marcin_karwinski
@marcin_karwinski Месяц назад
Can you measure minimum and maximum seat heights from the ground level? Can you also check stand-over height? Manufacturer claims 90, 100 and 65cm respectively. At the same time they're using same seatpost battery across the stacks, and on aluminium models minimum seat height is at 15cm above stand-over, while here it's stated at 25cm over... maybe in reality one could get the seat as low as under 80cm, but i couldn't get ADO support to provide official explanation besides the "carbon frame is different than aluminium so expect differences in dimensions" and "dimensions were measured by the marketing team"...

The only problem with electric bikes is the battery only last for two years and to buy the battery cost an arm and leg.

Once this goes to the official MSRP it's not going to be worth it in any way... no mudguards automatically crosses it out of majority of climates (non-standard mountpoints could make it even harder to facilitate with 3rd party options), no kickstand from majority of stops including travels (even if they release some bike rack/stand to store your precious light vehicle at home, you won't be able to securely set it while on the go), no folded design third contact point or guard for the support/front cog means you're going to get your belt tarnished or destroyed sooner and accidents may impact your bike more, no integrated lock design from security conscious or potentially insurance schemes... the gps with the tag device and monitoring feature, per the video, would push notifications if moved, so a wind blowing on non-secured side-leaning could potentially trigger alarms more often than not as the bike may fall, and knowing average users, once the feeling of novelty is taken over by the nuisance of constant alarms and potential scratches to the €2k+ bicycle or lack of worldwide tag support, the better approach would've been to opt for integrated secure lock... after all it's better to know that your ride stays where you put it instead of knowing that your ride was just stollen and vanished a couple blocks away... police would not act on potential push notifications, you wouldn't have time to get to your bicycle before it's stolen etc., and the insurance schemes almost never require gps tracking on the bikes but almost always a good integrated lock is needed... all in all, unless ADO truly listens to their customers and merges eg. the aluminium Pro's geared engine or some alternative solution like some midmounted engine+gearbox unit or mid-engined but rear-hub-integrated-gear design, offers mudguards on a city bike, adds integrated bike-locker, adds a kickstand and third point of contact to safely brace folded form against the ground on, this is going to be just ADO's take on what Carbo has offered for a few years now. Or a 20 inch wheel foldable alternative with a removable battery to the last year targeted but ultimately this summer releasing 28 inch non-foldable Fiido Air with battery integrated into the carbon frame...
