Carbon fiber isn't cheap so I knew it was going to be quite pricey for the type of bike.

Thanks for the review. 1) Did you check the weight of the bike yourself? Because in the past ADO have underrated the weight of their other bikes ... 2) Is the motor named 'Bafang' on the hub or is it only thus named in the advertisement? 3) You didn't show the display. Does it give you directions (when connected to the app) like the other ADO's do? 4) Does the battery somewhere mention the brand, like 'Samsung'? Quick release on the handelbar, once you have found the right angle, could be easily replaced whith a more permanent solution, I think. Overall, I very much like this bike to take along on the train here in the Netherlands to visit other cities (museums etc.) and the diverse nature reserves. I'm over 70 years old so I don't like to have a bike of over 20 kilograms! Thanks again for the review!

Hi, 1) I haven't got a scale to test that but I'm sure it's over 12.5 now with the lights and kickstand maybe close to 14 kilos. I'll have to try weight it. But still feels really light. 2) Yes it's a bafang brand motor with Bafang on it. 3) Standard display used in other models like the Air 20 Pro so it will with the app 4) No mention I can see on it. I will ask ADO but it should be LG/Samsung cells like the Air 20 Pro. Yes the handlebar bar shouldn't be too hard to fix and thanks so much for watching and the comment!

@@Techtablets Thank you very much for your quick response! Much appreciated. I think this will be my next e-bike. Specifically for use on trains, being relatively light and no oily chain exposed.

If you ride mostly on the flat then it's well worth going for carbon belt drive. Also look at the Ado Air 20 Pro I prefer it as it has the geared hub but it's heavier by about 4 kilos.
@N0N0111
@N0N0111 5 дней назад
0:44 Yeah, so sad it is hard to find an e-bike with carbon belt drive that don't have only 1 gear. When you find them they cost something like $5000 😥
@Techtablets
@Techtablets 4 дня назад
Yes the Gocycle ones but crazy expensive and really not worth it I did review one about two years ago and it was amazing but can't justify that price tag.
@marcin_karwinski
@marcin_karwinski 5 дней назад
First, what is the real weight? They started with saying 12.5kg of a bike, now it seems they've moved to mentioning it's 12.5kg for the frame only, which could mean overall weight of 15kg total... that could make it about 3kg less (or about 15% less) than the regular aluminium model for about €600 more (or about 50% more)... unless of course it is truly about 12kg total as that would then mean about 30% weight reduction over the regular model. Second, how is that rear kickstand mounted? Can you easily mount it to the bike with the tools provided in the package? Does the mounting impact potential misalignment of the belt drive? ADO is still not offering any own/supported/validated solutions. And no kickstand is a major deal breaker for a city roamer, unless all your pitstops guarantee bike rack/stand you can always secure your precious Carbon to... Do you know of any plastic mudguards covering the wheels appropriately that could be used with this bike? Since it's a carbon model it lacks the typical rear triangle mountpoints etc. Finally, you've got a spelling error in your Pros list for GPS... ;)
@Techtablets
@Techtablets 5 дней назад
I don't have scales but I need to weight it, however it fells very light compared to other 20" foldable. With the kickstand and everything I would say over 14 kilos maybe closer to 15 as you mentioned. The kickstand is one I got myself it's just using the rear hub bolt to hold it on. ADO said it will come with the kickstand and magnet to hold it together when folded this is a pre-release unit. Mudgaurds will be sold separately.
@marcin_karwinski
@marcin_karwinski 5 дней назад
@Techtablets ADO offered €100 steel mudguards+rack option on indiegogo platform, but now that the product is available on company's main page, there's no mudguards option available... all the other models in the Air 20" line-up seem to come with mudguards as standard, even the base model with its questionably sufficient plastic ones, but nothing for the carbon top-ranger... I'm just wondering if there are any plastic/carbon mudguards from 3rd parties that could be mounted on this bike using its mountpoints... As to kickstands, they promised them offered through info passed to the reviewers, but even now there's no option officially available in the web shop. Most centrally mounted, those screwed to the support plate, apparently cannot be used due to missing holes and strengthening on the frame. Same applies for typical rear triangle beams mounted models, due to carbon frame, no mountpoints, and "single" angular arm/beam, without the horizontal one typically used. That leaves us with either pedal/crank mounted ones, typically requiring hand-operation, or rear hub bolt mounted one, typically allowing leg-operation, but quite a few of these actually require a couple of mountpoints in a small even triangular fashion, for which by the look of it there are no extra holes in the frame. Regardless, bolt mounted kickstand could require users to disassemble the rear wheel, potentially impacting tension of the belt, or am I wrong here? BTW. Can you link that stand? Potential buyers may be interested in getting those since the manufacturer is not yet providing any option directly... You've recently reviewed nearly-half-this-price Engwe P20, which is supposedly 18.5kg. Is the weight difference between that one and this noticeable and in your opinion worthy of the price difference? Of course, product price worthiness is in the eyes of the target potential customers, and for some any kg less is worth it, regardless of the final MSRP or usability impacts, but given your experience with the many 20" foldables you've had tested, from heavy ones clad in 4" tires to similarly more city oriented 1.75" light ones, how do you find this compared to the competition? Potentially, if this is light enough, you could use regular scales and, you know, weigh yourself, then do the same whilst holding the bike, then subtract first...

Strange I'm sure it will appear on their website soon that you can order them as an add-on. Makes no sense for them to not offer them, I think talking to them they just don't have stock of somethings and this unit I have is a pre-release model. So no official kickstand or extras included.
@marcin_karwinski
@marcin_karwinski 4 дня назад
@Techtablets it's not that strange... they haven't had one developed from the get-go or haven't validated 3rd party ones because most solutions out there are mountable to the support for mid-located options, which AFAIK is not supported on this frame, or to the lower/horizontal beam of the rear triangle, which this frame lacks altogether. Some 3rd party ones require full rear wheel disassembly and replacement of the bolts and that may be a problem for a lot of their customers especially given it's a belt-driven design where tension needs to be kept at correct levels. Plus, adding the kickstand or any stand at all would further dilute their PR hopes for the lightness focused design. You know, if carbon one weighs at 15-16kg when equipped the same as the approximately 18kg model that comes with all those components in the box/on the bike from factory and you need to pay between 150% and 200% the slightly heavier one's price, they might lose traction amongst the general public... so it's better PR-wise to claim better weight sans everything to distance further from both own cheaper models and competition, to vaguely promise usability components to arrive in the future as they can always paint it as their continuous thorough testing of potential solutions for their customers safety whilst still selling devices sans such components, to sell a device with "starting subscription contract" as reviewers may skip digging deeper and may be gladly promoting the inclusion of a safety-net in the form of app integrated GPS tracking without realising such feature may be free for only a limited period of time (isn't it 1y or 2y here, and not for life? afterwards, the tracking feature will require an additional paid subscription...)... it's the typical almost corporate speak, same as the purpoted range estimates or gradient promises. We're already very much accustomed to most of those terms... at least in your tests we can kind of get more realistic range verifications/estimates you typically give having ridden the thing on a more or less the same route, or gradient support through your hill climb test, followed by braking performance down the same road...

Hey Techbro, if you are interested in a test idea. Since Samsung is not fulfilling my dream of a Galaxy Mini 5.4" and the completely copied Apple Watch Ultra 😅, I wanted to ask you if you could do a whole day trip with the new Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Smartwatch without a smartphone ☝🏽 digital detox ☝🏽🤔😱 Among other things, I would be interested to know whether the Apple Watch Ultra can be connected to Bluetooth and the car radio. Of course there are many car radios 😅 Day trip example, Shipping day meeting up with friends: of course buy EVERYTHING using the smartwatches, workout in the morning, trip through a city with sat nav, lunch, dinner, maybe an evening cocktail 🍸 etc. you'll come up with something.🥳 essiert bist eine Test idea.
