I find it hilarious how Goering’s first priority during the Reichstag fire was to secure all the artwork. I wouldn’t expect anything less from him. And as always, stellar video
If old reichmarschall was alive today, can you imagine how he'd react to Greta Thundberg and her global twat squad splashing tomato soup on classic works ? Instant cure for autism -- 300lb man strangles the shit outta you for 60secs straight 😂
The mental image of him running through the halls with a stack of paintings blocking his view and bust under his arm with fire licking at his heels amused me greatly
There was a lot artwork in the Reichstag to be saved? Today's public buildings have a lot of phoney belony stuff placed on walls and in entrances. Almost all worthless items that cost the tax payer a lot of money though.
A wonderful channel, totally fair, no slanting of actual fact, just telling the truth about Hitler, which so often differs from what is the usual story.
It's actually completely ahistorical in what it neglects to mention. The assertion that popular support demanded hitlers appointment is completely belief by the fact that the other largest party in government was the Communist. The country was intensely divided and the conservatives in his coalition appointed him in a misguided attempt to coopt him
Sir, I mean this with all due respect. You should undersy the meaning of that word. It's not a racial word the way it was used in Germany was very different.
It's almost never mentioned, since it goes against the popular beliefs, but the police interrogation of the suspect confirmed that he was indeed the arsonist. They had him take them around the building, he knew where each fire had been set, confirmed by the fire investigators, he knew the sequence of the fires, only the arsonist could possibly know that.
@@Graplernaplerif you don’t mind, could you briefly say what he said about the fire? It’s shocking to me that we’ve all been taught since we were 10 in US schools that it was a false flag and very well may have been a real commie terrorist attack 🤯
Hmm, I've read quite a few historical books on the era, most by quite mainstream historians and most of them seem to grudgingly admit that there was an arsonist from outside the party. Some try to obfuscate the issue by suggesting that he did it for the party, but I don't remember anyone claiming for a fact that it was an inside job.
@Ethnarches "historians" might admit it now. But it wasn't what I was taught in school in the 2000s. Boomers can't conceive of hitler doing anything good, so he he must have lied about everything Atleast my teachers hadn't gotten the "greeks and romans were gay" npc update yet tho.
It’s amazing how British propaganda is the norm. I discovered that this was the case for the Belgian Congo too. The photos were taken of the atrocities Muslim slave owners perpetrated on the Congo people and then pinned on the Belgians. It’s wild
Even word "Not-see" is British propaganda. They stole it even from German Communists, who invariably invent new words, since they make it a very important point to not call their political opponents by their real name.
Thanks! Amazing work. Hope you make a german version of these videos in the future, i am sure theres a pletora of people here who should know this version of history
Alright, this will be a long comment, almost a review, so bear with me. Well done, zooms. You keep outdoing yourself with these ones. Each chapter could be a video of its own, yet you manage to cogently weave them into the greater narrative. And 50 minutes worth of content? Respect. I understand there's work (editing, uploading, rendering) behind every image. I especially enjoy your inclusion of quotes by contemporaries (e.g. the communists, Eden, the pope, Mussolini etc.), as they help illustrate the historical context and offer a fresh perspective on the reasoning behind Hitler's decisions. Most noteworthy is your ability to narrate personal conversations and interactions. It makes history sound vivid and tangible. What I sort of miss from your videos is a backdrop on individual issues, i.e. the role of the League of Nations or the similarities between National Socialism and Italian fascism. Not that I need that. This sort of basic explaining completes a lot of history YTers. Yet I understand the nature of this channel and I appreciate it. Looking forward, thematically and otherwise, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunity for more compelling narration. Ultimately, it's your channel and I'm just the anonymous commentator. So keep up the good work and do what you like :) On a final note, I would like to add to a part of your video. You described the Reichstag debate on 23 March 1933 regarding the Enabling Act. You mentioned the ill-made complaints of the SPD's chairman and how he was sobered by Hitler's retort. His name was Otto Wels and he described Hitler's speech as follows: "It clapped and cracked like whip lashes on our heads, it fell down on us like devouring fire" You know your rhetoric is powerful, when even your enemies say so. What's more, though the SPD opposed the Enabling Act, it is mostly glossed over that it voted in favour of Hitler's foreign policy program during the seating of 17 May 1933. This just goes to show you how popular Hitler's policies were at the time and how reluctant contrarians are to admit that. Congrats if you read this far. Thumbs up, as always. With best regards, Pik.
This was sat in the comments held for review section for 2 weeks for some reason, not sure why! Thanks very much for the kind words, greatly appreciated and I've taken all that into consideration
1930-1935 Era Of Germany Is Extremely Fascinating To Me And Im Just So Tired Of People Talking About Hitler As If Hes An Insane Alien Monster From A Different Galaxy That Its A Breath Of Fresh Air To Hear Him Being Talked About As The Human That He Is And Was
The American way is to listen to all sides then make up your mind. Modern American universities have fallen away from this tradition. Thank you for showing another side of WW2 politics.
Thanks for telling me about the roots of the us. Nowadays i just see how the us are arranging wars after wars to gain more and more Ressources like gas and oil for free. The us destroyed nordstream 2. Now we are in Germany are dependent from us fracking gas and our economy is collapsing... This was an act of War, but our politicians are us handpuppets that have to start a proxy war for the us against russia... In days were you can translate every language in realtime, speak about every Problem... This cannot be right
Much of the ideology of the time stems from theosophical societies, which largely believe that sentient beings mustn't be harmed in order to maintain a healthy society.
I'd never heard about his first meeting with Il Duce, very interesting. I'd not heard much at all about his rise to power since school actually, and they were very adamant that it was the NSDAP themselves who started the fire and then blamed the reds. It's easy to forget he was just a regular dude without any formal education in statecraft and etiquette before his rise. Great channel.
If you think they don't all watch videos like this constantly in the background (and in the bedroom, more than one of them), I have a war in Palestine I want to sell you. They all secretly adore him as they publicly call each other his name to grab power.
I’ve become addicted to these videos. All I think I’ve ever wanted was an unvarnished and unslanted history of WW2. Pretty much every other video about AH tells events with a lot of conjecture, without quotes, and from the point of view of the winners of the war who have an interest in demonizing a crushed enemy. Knowing what we know now about the Soviet Union, it should be clear that we did actually fight the wrong enemy.
We were more the bad guys then Germany was! The shit we did to the German population after Germany surrendered. Not to mention the millions of POWs we let starve!
This channel is the first one I found that isn't even slightly propaganda, extremely refreshing Thanks, and don't allow other channels to get away with slanderous accusations, which is actually how I rediscovered this channel, I was involuntarily un-subscribed previously
pretty funny how after the reichstag fire, hitler just went to a news paper office and found some basically sleeping employees and just started yelling at them and got goebells and himself on typewriters and just started typing out the nextmornings edition lol
Great series! But this has made me wonder how much power Hindenburg had as president? If he had the power to give Hitler dictatorial powers, what stopped him from giving himself those same powers? And what was the extent of his power?
Maybe a German can answer this better than me if you want a full explanation of the President-Chancellor dynamic, ill ask in my chat if anyone can reply
Well, the Reich President was commander-in-chief of the armed forces, he appointed and dismissed the Reich Chancellor and he could dissolve the German Reichstag. In the years 1919-1923 and especially from 1930 onward, the Reich President supplemented or largely replaced the legislation of the Reichstag with emergency decrees. So Hindenburg had a lot of power. He could rule by decree, similar to what a US president can do. But he was more interested in stability in the country and also relied heavily on his advisors, as he was an old man by 1933.
"Churchill, Hitler, and The Unnecessary War" by Pat Buchanan and "Hitler's Revolution" by Richard Tedor were named by ZoomerHistorian in a previous video.
To think that not even 100 years later we're right back where we started, except instead of the Weimar republic being a German exclusive, its the entire western world. I am quite ready for all this to change, I wish to live in a normal world without all this crazy madness
“Offered to the workers for free”. Sigh. NOTHING IS FREE. What actually happened is the state FORCED their neighbors to pay for it. It’s unbelievable adults don’t understand that.
Wrong. You don't have to force your neighbors to pay for it if you don't waste all of your income. Human labor is the source of wealth, and the Germans were extremely industrious during the 30s and early 40s. They generated a ton of wealth through production and export while also limiting their imports... And I know you're gonna have a hard time believing this because we live in the modern world, but the German government invested a sizable portion of that income back into its citizenry, rather than waste it all and siphon it into the hands of bankers and merchants like we see today.
@@youtubeisdying929I get his libertarian position, which holds true with most governments, yet the exception defines the rule and there have been nations (and particarly monarchs) who understood this principles as well and only took that which people were willing to give while leveraging their positions to increase the return in that which was given/taken.
@@publichearing8536In the end, most humans aren't very capable of actually building and perpetuating civilization....hence why they need great men of great will to guide them. Like any pack I suppose
@@nickgibson5241 nobody expects someone who says "jfk was assassinated" to cite a source, because it is a well known historical event everyone already is familiar with. This is the same, he isn't going deep enough to need to cite anything.
@@tyrlant2189 This isn’t a single claim though. The video makes several claims that may present as obvious to you, but certainly are not. Especially to those who actually understand this time period. I’d appreciate he at least try and present sources to support his Fascist fanfic.
Can someone say what happened to the RU-vid video in which Hitler discusses the role of women in German society. It was audio only accompanied by a photo of Hitler seated and surrounded by young women. I listened to it many times.
*Literally most important building in Deutschland burning to the ground* Goering: HOLY SHIT SAVE THE WALL DECORATION Lmao my guy was such a walking meme
I have been programmed from birth to reject this information, but im too auī!$īic to care. It is obvious these guys weren't the cartoon villians we portray them as. Not correct about everything, products of their time, but also not evil mainiacs.
They were humans, just like us, and all humans are capable of absurd atrocities and wonderful greatness. Ideology usually fuels the atrocities. Shits wack fuk commies, fuk nazis, imma go back 2 bed.
@@ProjectStarLIGHTSguessing you don’t have a problem with the Soviet genocide. The multitude of deaths in the labor camps were caused by American and British bombs.
They didn't 😅, they ended slaughter without sedation. (Like almost all western countries do now) My country (at least the half of where I'm from even ended unsedated slaughter for religious groups.
The whole series is full of such examples and is clearly an attempt to exonerate Hitler and the Nazis. Which is fine as long as you're aware of it. It's a shame because I do enjoy these detailed looks at the life of Hitler and the rise of National Socialism because it is far more complex than the general public might expect. A lot of the information presented is sound, I just think that, unfortunately he pushes it a bit too far at times avoiding anything that could be seen as critical towards Hitler even if it's just the reality. What is helpful is understanding why a lot of Germans were happy to support Hitler and the Nazis, ultimately they hadn't yet committed any atrocities, whereas communism had by that time caused massive damage in the east, as well as the horrors caused by the first World War, when Europe was still largely ruled by Monarchical and Aristocratic Elites. So it makes sense that the Nazis seemed like a breath of fresh air.
@@nutyyyythere’s enough stuff out there portraying the failures of the nazis and Hitler. This is why this content is a breath of fresh air . Not constantly pointing out how “evil” and “ deranged “ the man was.
@@nutyyyyyeah if you listen through the lines even a little bit you can tell the guy making these videos is 100% engaging in some not so subtle Hitler/National Socialism apologetics. I’ve enjoyed the series because it is informative and provides perspective that is certainly unique in the west but I also understand there is an agenda being pushed so there’s going to be some critical details either misrepresented or entirely omitted.
@@leisureclubaestheticambien8376 I don’t necessarily disagree with the premise but objectively speaking Hitler was a genocidal madman and vile individual. Doesn’t mean he was incapable of making rational decisions or possessing genuine empathy but his infamy is extremely well-deserved.
