Composed in 2018 for the Saga Senior High School Girls’ School Choir in Karatsu, Japan, Ērik Ešenvalds' "Adoremus in Aeternum" is written for a choir of women's voices and three soprano soloists, which the composer instructs to be distant both from the chorus and from each other.
In Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, Seattle, at the Office of Compline on August 18, 2024, the Women's Compline Choir directed by Rebekah Gilmore presented the work with the choir singing from "Compline Corner" in the northeast corner of the nave, one soloist located in the northwest corner, the second soloist in the southeast corner, and the third soloist in the organ loft. Listening to this recording with headphones will provide a suggestion of the experience of those present in the cathedral.
