Things like this are only possible for apps that have a lot of users and where it doesn't matter if you scare away a few users. It would be very helpful if we could continue to get tips on how app developers can improve their app with FEW users and do the best they can.

As somebody who loves great products I hate this trend of spamming the user with ads. I have no idea why a user would not immediately uninstall such a bad experience since it should tell you what the company cares about the most.

The ultimate goal for a developer is to increase the revenue and cover the development and design costs. It should not be spamming but using the ad space decently and nicely. If a user can't pay, at least bear with ads.

I guess it is just about “how much do you need/want it”. But “it” I mean the solution the app offers. If I really need it, I don’t even notice the ads. I am on autopilot, looking for what I need. If I am just browsing, yes, maybe I will feel offended by so many ads and quit. In that situation though, not much chances I would have paid anyway. I guess it is a balance that needs to be tested. How much can you push to get value.

For me, I think using only subscriptions gives a nicer and more professional impression (UI/UX) than putting ads everywhere (like a spam), but that's a personal choice. Steve, what is the best way to price app subscriptions initially like before you start testing and analyzing the subscriptions. (Examples: 1-Freemium tier = basic content. 2-Premium tier = individual and family). I am afraid that I will give a high price and people will run away, or give a cheap price and they will think that the application is "unprofessional."

Are people making much money through ads on iOS these days? Or is this mainly a way to prod the user into paying for premium to remove ads?

if your app gives more in-app revenue, then need to reduce IAA because it can impact user retention. Weekly subscriptions for this type of app are a good option at a low price. App not found in sensor tower on both places Play Store & App Store?

Yeah I like the weekly option for photo and video apps. The app is on sensor tower. That’s where I pulled the revenue number.

Hey sorry this isn't really related to the topic but I thought I'd ask the question I'm building an app that is targeting Christian parents for their kids. It's optimized for iPad and it allows the kid to read Christian theme books as well as The Bible for kids by paying a fee for unlocking a certain amount of credits. There's also games in the app that the kid can unlock by reading a certain amount of books. My question is there are a few apps that are very well developed over a long period of time by well-vetted companies that offer the app for free and I do not see any indication of where they are making money. What advice do you have for apps that are competing against free apps of good quality when I am just a startup with a paywall

Let me create a video out of this but my short answer is most likely parents are NOT downloading multiple apps so go ahead and launch and focus on that providing the right value. If I’m using my apps as an example, there are free sleep sounds on RU-vid so people do NOT need to pay for my app yet they do.
