Thank you 😊,, When the pandemic hit, u was due to open my Cafe, the health department said no and for me to wait. Instead of crying about it, and letting food go to waste. my son i decided to cook for about 25 seniors and homeless people. People ask why not sale your food, it's better to give then to receive. Since watching your videos, I think I also found a honest realtor.

would you recommend going all electric? and do you know if you can share water heater with ADU from main house?

I have a situation, my new firepit requires 240k and it is 60’ away from meter. The current pipe line is as follows-from gas meter 1” pipe size for 50’ distance and then branch out for 1/2” size for next 10’ distance to fire pit.Does this current pipe system would be good enough for 240k btu firepit?

im using electric stove. propane dryer and gas water heater. that should lower the pipe size of the gas line. Any words?

I didn't pass my inspection because there was no Heater in my ADU. It's a small area so I'm having trouble finding a Heater that fits my place. Does anyone know if the ASHLEY Hearth Products Model #DVAG11N will pass inspection in Los Angeles CA?

Needed one for my outdoor grill. Of course a bigger meter is a free service. Any gas supplier will HAPPILY let you buy more gas flow. 😏

It's probably a free upgrade from your local gas company. Give them a call and find out

Good information. It's really not that technical once you understand the concept behind the sizing. Very similar concept to sizing water and electrical. If anyone needs help in San Diego, I can point them where they need to go.

Can the homeowner submit the gas pipe sizing to the planner or do I need an engineer?

@@Skull2121 who ever prepares your submittal set for the city can prepare it. Just follow the standards for distances and fixtures. Don’t undersized your water heater. That includes the flex line that connects your piping to the actual unit.

It's size for when the house was build using codes from the 50s. My plumber followed current codes to build the ADU and that's how we got a 1" gas line

Thank you for your video..... BUT your information is NOT completely accurate. I am currently going through this scenario and SoCalGas has a protocol to follow. First, you need to fillout online a cost estimate application and second, fill out an application. The estimate calculated a cost value of $15, 250.00!!! This is crazy! I was provided with a Project# and a 5-digit code for tracking.

same here. i filled out application and got assigned a planner that is requesting digital plans etc. On socalgas it states this: "Scanned copies of plans (property maps) are not encouraged but may be submitted for smaller-sized developments where a digital GIS or CAD file was not created and only copies of pre-existing plans (property maps) are available." Did you just send over scanned copies or went all out on their request?

Is not that the information available is not user friendly, the majority of the information is base on math calculations from the engineering department, leave it to the pros....

With this sheet everyone not just the pros will be able to calculate their gas line. And the homeowner can verify the pipe size with the city inspector. It's super easy even the pros will download the sheet
