Adult Scoliosis: Treatment 

I went to a scoliosis surgeon 3 years ago who would not operate on me because either I would be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life or die on the table!

I was diagnosed with scoliosis 1week ago , my degree is 28 I feel quite sad that I have to live with it for the rest of my life but thank God

Wow! This is very informative. I didn't know this had a treatment. Growing up as child in Liberia, I was bullied a lot because of the curve in my back. I did not know about this condition. Blessedly, I am in Australia now and I finally know this condition or curve is abnormal. Also, I am going to seek and start treatment as soon as possible. My only fear is I don't undergo surgery because I am an adult now. I really want to get raid of this curve.

I was told I was too old to have surgery and nothing could be done. I'm in my 40's and didn't know I had scoliosis. Until 4 years ago. When an X-ray tech showed me the X-ray. Now I'm in severe pain and on permanent disability. But in saying that. Wearing a back brace helps, tucking a pillow under my back helps, and using KT tape also has helped. I'm exercising not intensely. Just moving my body and figuring out what exercises will be beneficial. But sometimes I have to give in and take Motrin or something stronger. Sometimes I have a good day. Then out of nowhere, a flareup. If I can't manage the pain. Then back to the Physical Medicine Doctor, I go.☹️

I have scoliosis so bad in my tailbone it takes me about anywhere from half an hour to 40 minutes to get on the bed comfortably. Pain gets worse every year so that's what feels like I'm going to end up in a wheelchair from this.

I deal with thoracic scoliosis and dealing with daily pain all day. I feel like I'm about to give up smh.

Was diagnosed with congenital scoliosis at the age of 27 was shocking to say least cannot be operated as was discovered too late in life. Often people tell me its not painful its funny these tend not to have scoliosis... my curve is 48 degrees to add to that got fibromyalgia and EDS in a word ouch

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was in 7th grade, now I am 27 and still have scoliosis but it is very severe. I am and always have been terrified of the surgery, but I feel like it is starting to effect my breathing.

Do you think somebody who is 24 with a S curve 32 top of curve & 31 bottom of curve can have surgery? I have done every form of treatment and I’m still in so much pain. I’m over it! Anyone in this situation?

i am 60 years old dr found my scoliosis at 5 years old they studied me till i was 12 i thought my entire life i had steel rod and fussed spine i got x rayed at 29 and they told me i had no steel rod or fussed back i have to big scares down my spine and hip what did the even do to me i was in a body cast for 9 months

I have had scoliosis for over 8 years now but I neglected it when I first noticed over the years cause I thought it was as a result of bad posture so I didn’t take it serious. Now I’m 22 and it really hurts now, I can’t stand for long cause my waist gets sore. My curve as of the last time I went for an X-ray was at 40 degree. Can a brace and exercise help out or is it compulsory I undergo a surgery

At what curvature would you recommend bracing and surgery for a 17 year old?
