I see you young ladies as brave women. At 87 I need spinal stenosis for degenerative Osteoarthritis. I am not new to surgery. I had 10 so far on a broken tibia and fibula, gall bladder, benign tumor in my left upper arm.

I have severe Scoliosis in my 30s now and its my biggest insecurity in life. I usually wear a shawl with hood & light hoodie to cover up. I know i look like a freak if other people see my curve oh well. Glad you got surgery and recovered well 🙂

You are so brave! How are you now, do you still feel pain (especially during the rainy day), can you bow down or can you dance? Thank you for your sharing!

I have watched all your videos and they are so helpful for me to understand more and to be less anxious about it. The only worry that I still have is that I’m 13 but I’ve just started growing despite hitting puberty (technically) at age 11. I’m worried that I’ll have to have another surgery in future when I’ve grown more. I’ve heard about these rods where they are magnets and you press a button to make the rods expand more. I’m not sure what my surgeon will decide. Despite this though I feel like I’m more prepared for my surgery in future because I watched your videos! ❤️

I believe that the surgeons can tell from your X-rays how much growing you have left to do, they won’t do the surgery if they don’t think it is the right thing to do! I believe this method you have mentioned is used mainly on younger people, by 14 they mentioned to me that I wouldn’t grow much anymore. Try not to worry too much about this, Sarah xx

You remind me of myself a bit. I was a competitive gymnast and dancer and no one noticed my scolisois and was in no pain before surgery. Then had loads of pain since. I have even qualified as a physio and massage therapist to try and help myself - just started a you tube page! Pain is much better now, but I am constantly tired and sick instead..!!! I am sarah Louise as well. Hope you look after your fusion well and stay well. Swimming became my favourite exercise for a while since the surgery to get blood flowing there and help with pain, like a dolphin lol! Where abouts in the Uk are you? I am in Sussex 😊🙏

Hey! Sounds like we have so much in common, thanks for the message! It’s crazy how no one noticed with either of us. I really need to get back into swimming and doing more exercise it definitely helps! I still struggle with my pain a lot, it wears me down honestly! Hope you are coping well with the pain? I’m in Sheffield UK!

Do you ever wish you hadn’t had the surgery? My daughter is 14 and has just been diagnosed with a 49 degree curve, her right shoulder blade sticks out and front left rib. She doesn’t want surgery. The consultant said her curve shouldn’t get much worse because she’s at the end of her growth. I’m concerned it may get worse and what that might mean. Right now she doesn’t have much pain with it at all. I’m trying to learn all I can to help support her so I appreciate people sharing their experiences. X

@@mhairihughes8765 49 degrees, interesting. I’ve recently had scoliosis surgery done a couple weeks ago! My curve was 75 degrees, maybe a bit more, and now it’s 14!! I won’t say the recovery is easy, but I’m taking it step by step. I’m 18, and I’ve known I had scoliosis since around 12. I’d say for now, it’s *okay* if you don’t want your daughter to have surgery. Like I said, it’s definitely not an easy thing to go through. But on the other hand, 49 isn’t exactly a small curve either. My advice would be, if you see it progressively getting worse, I’d start thinking about getting surgery. Or maybe a back brace if you guys haven’t tried that already. At the end of the day though, it’s up to you and your daughter, and what you guys think is best for the future. Best wishes to you!
