That CF MOTO will be a great seller in my opinion, and will be the start of a rush of small capacity bikes that can do big highway miles as well as technical offroad jaunts. All of this for under $9000. I am interested

I put my deposit down on the new Himalayan as soon as it was available to order here in Aus. For that price its worth buying to test and live with for a while if I end up not liking it shouldnt be hard to sell on. I agree the reliability factor is an unkown but with a 3 year unlimited klm warranty apart from the inconvenience of a breakdown your pretty much covered for any faults with the bike. They have been working on and testing this new model for over 5 years I am pretty confident they have found and sorted any issues before releasing it.

After discovering your channel, I was hooked. Even when I forgot that I’m a knackered old chubby bloke with creaky knees and was devouring track-bike reviews of supersport screamers, I’d still make sure I watched your news updates and feature videos. In my more realistic moments I am aware that in my late 50s I should probably seek adventure by pottering along some muddy green lanes in Wales and NW England rather than be knee-down around Oulton Park so I’m really enjoying your recent pieces on the new Himalayan and the light ADV/dual-sport alternatives. Congratulations on the parenthood; our lass is 23 and while it’s a cliche, they really do grow up damn quick so savour every moment (while making time for some bike-fun for yourself, obviously!). I don’t even know your name, unless your parents had a bizarre sense of humour and it’s actually Solid but here’s to you buddy.

RE the 390… You know 4x4s have low slung exhausts… water doesn’t go up the exhaust while it’s blowing bubbles mate… The only thing that really matters is the intake location. Personally great design choice getting the pipe out of the way.

I had a chance last month to ride the Smoky Mountain 500 loop here in the US with a couple of friends. I was on my Honda CRF 450RL, one friend on a KLR650 and another on a KLX300. I got to put in miles on all three bikes. First the KLR. It was like getting off a bar stool and sitting down in a lazy boy lounger. Super comfortable! I own a KLR as well and it's my go to ADV if the trip includes a bunch of asphalt. On the KLX, I was impressed by its usable torque everywhere in the rev range and how easy it was to control in the dirt. After riding both, I jumped back on the 450, pulled a wheelie and power sliding through a corner whatched my mates dissappear in my rear view. Between all the bikes you showcased, I'm most interested in the CF Moto 450MT. It's possible that it could be the best of the KLR and the Honda CRF450RL in one inexpensive offering.

Great video again. Personally I think that the Chinese offerings are so cheap because they are subsidised in one way or another. They have offered a lot of choice, but when other manufacturers go to the wall we will find ourselves ruefully wishing for the old days.

Being 74 a low seat has become the most important thing for me. After that comes weight, wind protection, luggage options and enough power to keep up with traffic on American highways.

Solid. Thanks for your efforts in producing quality content. It’s great to see this from an Aussie perspective. Years ago, I was looking at buying a BMW 700GS. Your ‘solid’ review, from a local helped me make the right choice. I did many Kms on that bike, including a road trip to Karijini and back. It wasn’t really made for bush bashing and I ended up buckling the front rim😭I’ve had an AT Adventure Sport the last couple of years, and it’s been a great tourer, just so BIG and heavy I was too scared to go anywhere off road by myself. I’ve moved her on and now I’ve put a deposit down on the new 450 Himalayan. Im looking forward to a smaller lighter bike and heading bush without the worry of being able to pick it up. Keep up the great work and all the best for 2024 🙏👍✅

I have a ten year old Honda nc700x that still gets 75 mpg (U.S.) its a great commuter bike, but I wouldn't take it off road as it's heavy with a lousy suspension. The more new adventure bikes I look into, the more inclined I am to buy a used dual sport like a Honda or Suzuki 650.

Cant forget the kove 800x rally, with a claimed 386lbs wet weight! Thats lighter than all the bikes mentioned here except for the 390 adv.

Thanks for another great video. Not sure how you can say India's motorcycle industry isn't far behind China's though. To me it''s clear that China is the one that is behind. India has more big brands getting their bikes made there plus it has it''s own big brand; Royal Enfield.

Sir! Let me tell you one thing after off roading for about 45 years: The exhaust position is totally irrelevant for water crossings: exhaust pressure will present water from going in the exhaust, as long as the engine is running. If you stall your engine and tip over into that river, your exhaust will be full of water, no matter where it was in the first place when the bike was upright. But there is a huge advantage for a lower exhaust on any motorcycle that is designed for traveling: more space on the exhaust side for panniers. Too low….and off course rocks can hit it…All the best T.

Nice video. I think 2024 will be the year I get into adventure riding after almost 15 years on road. Currently have the street bike up for sale. I was fairly set on the cb500x however the new Himalayan absolutely has my eye. I love how it looks and it seems to be a big step up from the old one in all the right ways, including power which is one of the reasons I initially wrote them off. The CF Moto seems interesting, don't know if I trust the brand as I have heard tales of reliability issues.

And while I agree with your assessment that the chinese manufacturers are trying to take an increasingly larger market share, the 'legacy' Japanese and European brands are here to stay, and will keep finding buyers in the first world at least. My Honda CRF300 and Moto Guzzi will never be swapped for any chinese product, regardless of their price and features. Additionally, chinese manufacturers won't be able to undercut legacy manufacturers on price forever, as labor costs in China are steadily increasing, and legacy brands do more of their manufacturing in lower cost countries.

Love the 450MT, enjoy the ergonomics on the adventure bike, I think there is option for 800mm seatheight which is good news for but I wish it has lower like 750mm. Will use mainly for on road so hopefully they have road bias version with 19-17 rims configuration of gold color tubeless spoke rims 😍😍😍

I think the CFMoto and Royal Enfield will be huge sellers for $9k I like the look of both but the cf might be my choice with the twin cylinder motor. Ktm better make theirs cheap enough or they won’t be in the game imo. I like what I’m seeing in the market right now.

As an owner of an Indian built ktm390adv and a Chinese built ktm790adv I definitely think you’re right about the change that’s probably coming, the quality and reliability of both my bikes has been perfect so far and believe me they have been really used . CF Moto 450MT will sell really well. Everyone knows about their links with KTM, but how many people know of CF Moto joining forces with Yamaha? The stigma surrounding Chinese built bikes will soon be a thing of the past.

Hoping for the 2024 Africa Twin comes to the US 🤞

We went from not having many options to many options for light weight adv's. I've been waiting for the new Himalayan since the day I heard it rumored to be. I might have to do some.... research on the KTM and Cf moto when they become available in the states. If I compare these bikes to the Himalayan I know for sure the KTM will out perform both bikes off road and in a straight line, the Cf moto is full of character and that's what I look for in a bike especially with that exhaust note. The Himalayan will be the most comfortable to ride for going the distance. I own a klr650, I use it as an adventure touring bike for all my moto camping trips. I would like a bike more capable off road but still can hop on the highway and put some miles down. The KTM is calling my name.

If they don’t cheap out on suspension on the 390, I’m extremely interested.

The issue with the RE is going to be the sitting mechanics for taller riders. Current 411 is cramped if you're tall.

Put a deposit down on a Himalayan today, as a birthday treat, still keeping my low K KLX400r but want something for the long trips across the country. KLR was high on the list, as was a F800gs. Hope I chose well, time will tell. But the 3yr warranty and 24/7 roadside & price got me. And I'm a long time fan of Noraly. And now there is a twin with twin counterbalances, my mind is in a bit of a spin. She it !

In 2021 I wanted a single cylinder lightweight adventure bike in Europe. Basically the available options were CRF300 and KTM690/701. I got lucky, I managed to get an AJP PR7. But now all these options... :) I hope you will be able cover every new bike :)

Personally as a newbie to driving (I’m 16 and got my L early this year). Once I get my N I plan on also getting my motorcycle license as my family also rides. The CF Moto 450MT really looks quite interesting with A- the price B- the specs. As someone who wants to get into adventure riding, 2024 seems like an amazing year for the smaller adv bikes as from when I started looking the offerings in 2020-23 were basically non existent. 2024 seem like a amazing year for the small adv bikes with the manufacturers looking more towards the beginners and people who are looking to downgrade to something smaller.

+1 on low exhaust on water x-ings. If you stall there wouldn't be restarting. Merry Xmas to you and your family!

When you know how much hp they go for on the 390, it will be pretty easy to figure out how much it will weigh. Just look at the EU A2 license laws. Young folk can only ride up to 48hp but only with if the bike is heavy enough. If the weight is lower they start going down in hp. The 390 models are basicly made for exactly that a2 market.

I would like to see Chinese companies take pride and ownership of their products just like the Japanese eventually did. I would not have a problem buying a quality Chinese product if available. Also, I like your straight forward presentation and opinions.

Small displacement ADV bikes = more realistic expectations of how these bikes get used in the real world. But manufacturers will give us ads with a pro rider flying Dakar style at 80mph over some desert prairie and doing a wheelie at the top of a dune. Reality, a muddy slippery logging road at 8mph and loaded down with camping gear 25 miles from the next fuel stop. Out here the initial price of the bike doesn't matter much, but getting home does. I'll take the most reliable with a decent sized fuel tank.

Some interesting bikes there for the price. But I won't be getting rid of my Tenere 700 anytime soon.

Went to look at some cf moto bikes earlier today and was a little discouraged when I looked at there line up and going 4 out of 10 leaking coolant on the show room floor.

Would think that kawa would build a 450/500 versys😮

I like the MT450 but it’s to heavy for the HP, consider a T7 weights a little bit more and a lot more HP

In 2000 I bought an XT600E. I thought technology will make future models faster & lighter & more affordable. I now ride a T7, that is faster, but Yamaha don't seem to understand the need for lighter or affordable bikes. KTM will sell millions of 390's and the Himalayan you showed is the first one I saw that is not ugly. The MT450 twin sits exactly where most people wish adventure bikes were available. What's wrong with enough power, cheap enough, economical motorcycling? Unless riding 2-up and still wanting to keep up with mates on sport bikes, one don't need a 1200, or anything above 650. (Yea, even my T700 will get swapped for a T500 if there was one) Ironic that the Chinese and Indians will be forcing manufacturers to compete in the smaller segment market. What a blessing.

We have a local CFMoto dealer so I might start hanging out there and wait for the 450MT.
