If my comments section is anything to go by, people are very excited for the CFMoto 450MT adventure bike that has just been uncovered at EICMA 2023. There is a lot to like about the little off road motorcycle. Lets dive in.
Thanks for watching,

A 450cc 270-deg crank parallel twin in a lightweight ADV is a revelation in itself and a key differentiator in what will be a heavily contested segment in the future. Very well specced to boot too. Smart move, CFmoto! My wife has been riding her 700 CL-X to work since we bought it almost 2 years ago without issues and we have no doubt this new 450MT will be just as well built.

Finally!! I'll take it! And the choice of between high and low fender! Quality should not be an issue as this engine/trans combo is a few years old now in the 450 SR and SRS! My question is why does it take a Chinese manufacturer to stop and listen to the market rather than trying to dictate the market like the Japanese companies! Comes with crash bars, sump guard, auxillary lighting, pannier racks, TFT, switchable ABS, switchable TC, adjustable screen and GPS/Phone mount......all standard! what is not to like!!

KLE 500 🙂, CF MOTO quads are among the most reliable, and the MT 800 has proven itself to be good and reliable in this short period. I think this could be a very good solution. It has the same dimensions as the old KLE 500. I'm looking forward to it.
@defylifeadventure

The KLE 500, like many of the old 90s trailies (as they call them in the UK) was a bit before it's time. I had the GPZ500S and that was a great fun bike. If Kawasaki didn't restrict the KLE engine so much and use the heaviest materials they could find for the exhaust, handle bars etc.. It might have been better received. As it was, it was down on power by around 20% at the crank.

Quality is no question mark with CFmoto, i own a SR450 with the same engine....have done numerous track days thrashing the crap out of it & it's never missed a beat. build quality is the best in it's class for under $12k aud....also this is 100% the engine KTM co-developed with CFmoto, i own a KTM Duke 890R and the engine has a lot of familiar features to it.

I had a 650 MT as my 1st bike when they came out in 2017. I had it for 2 years and put 22000 kilometres on it before I got a Yamaha FJR1300. I did have a few small issues which were fixed under warranty. I'm looking forward to test riding one of these as I look for a smaller adventure bike to put along side my FJR.

Definitely on the top of my list right now, was hoping it would come in just under 400 lbs. wet, but it's not too far off. Maybe Aprilia can do something special with their 457 parallel twin in a light weight Taureg or revive the Pegaso name.

I just put a Perelli scorpion tire on my salvaged Z 400 and called it good. Not so many obstacles to go over, but plenty of potholes to steer around. The little 17 inch tire upfront helps with that. Plus, it’s still a lightweight bike and sips gas. Sometimes, it’s not what you ride, but where you ride😊. I can’t believe everybody’s complaining about the weight, yet this motorcycle shown has all the bells and whistles attached already.

We've had heavier bikes with single front discs and smaller discs in the past. The BMW F650GS and Sertao for example were around 196kg fully fuelled. So it's kind of a non-issue. We don't know if this comes with a standard lead acid battery or a LiFePO4 battery. If the former then there's a good 2.5kg to be saved there.

Adjustable tool less wind screen and tubeless tires also. As far as “Chinese reliability” they have been manufacturing at scale for decades now. All industrial country’s start off making cheap junk then eventually figure out quality control. China is no different. I haven’t heard or read anything bad about CFMoto so far, so we could be looking at a serous competitor to the big 4 in Japan and I’m all for it!
@domenik8339
@domenik8339 7 месяцев назад
There's a huge variance in quality when it comes to Chinese bikes. Lifan or CFmoto are actual brands like Honda or Kawasaki. They put out replacements parts and have a warranty. Then there's brands like Kymco that formerly cobbled together a frame and engine out of parts made by many manufacturers. These bikes were a lot poorer quality because they weren't always made completely in house.

Thanks for the video. I really hope this thing does well, and is fairly reliable. I would like to see CF Moto and kove really take off in America. If nothing else, I think it will force change from the big dogs. Crossing my fingers for a DRZ 400 fuel injected unicorn. 425 cc single thumper, 50 horsepower and 35 lb of torque with a 6-speed, and adjustable seat height from 32 to 34 in, Great standing ergonomics for even 6 footers, 4 gallon tank, LED lighting, cruise control, and ready to accept racks and a skid plate, etc without a bunch of trouble. And maybe a realistic way of 370 lb? That's 50 more than the current DRZ, but if we get Uber light we're talking super expensive.

I purchased a 150 CF Moto for my partner when learning to ride. I was pretty impressed with the brand overall and the build quality was decent. Little things like gear and brake levers would bend if the bike was laid over. However, overall if it was priced right, I think this will be a great option with a realistic weight for off road. I currently own a gen 3 klr for my adventure needs so I'm not in the market. But if I was, based on my brand experience, I'd definitely be considering this one.

I own the 450sr and it's a realy awesome bike. Heaps of tech including world tracker, bluetooth calls and music which I think you adventure guys will love. My 450sr in aust comes with 2 year & 3 year unlimited k warranty if you service it at a dealer, so I'm not worried about the reliability. The 450cc is very punchy in the lower rims, smoother than the 390 that I use to own (intact traded to get the 450sr), & faster. Only bad thing I can say about the 450 sr is that it is thirsty for the engine size at 4.3l per 100k's, which is why they probably put a bigger tank. I really like the look of this bike and since I bought my 450sr which retails at $7999.00 and I picked mine up for $7,250 ride away, I'm sure this MT will retail at $8.5K in Australia. Only thing I wish the cf moto 450 line up would have which will make this bike punch above its weight, is a optional cruise control. If it has that you adventure guys would be laughing. Game on Honda. Let's see you get the new NX below $10k.

As a fellow Aussie, not an ADV rider but rather a Sherco dirt bike rider, the Australian importers of Sherco, Mojo Motorcycles, are also the CF Moto importers. They have quite a lot of CF Moto product in the country already, mostly quads and side by side buggies for farmers (plus the road bikes). By and large, they give good service and don't have a lot of trouble with the brand. Mojo also stock a big list of parts for the brand here in Australia. Hope this helps. The 450 is a bike I'd consider as my first ADV if I give up dodging trees in the bush 🙂

Slightly concerned about the 450mt and the new Himalayan having their motors as stressed members, primary hanging from the headstock/upper spars and lightly fixed to the frame adjacent to as apposed to being part of the swing arm pivot. I did hear of one of the bike hire/tour operators having a few of their CB500x crack the engine casing, though they didn't say whether it was from jumping the bike or grounding the sump on an immovable object or such. And then there's the case of early Himalayan cracking the frame. As I have recently put a deposit down on the 450 Himalayan and now CF Moto bring out a very desirable 450 parallel twin priced exactly alike with good suspension on paper, I find myself in a conundrum. I think I will be test riding both before I hand over any more money & hope to find some exacting reviews on the MT rather than regurgitated press release video of burning hay bails & roosted gravel. Not including you in that category, but if I have to listen to another text to speech clip one more time, I will scream. Keep up the good work Solid & keep enjoying my old stomping grounds. Cheers from Brissy. ⛵

@@cangaroojackno, there’s a lot of confusion over the partnership. Here’s out it breaks down. The two companies have a shared facility in China. CF Moto own 51% of that partnership. For a non Chinese company to manufacture in China, they have to have a Chinese partner, and the foreign company can’t own more then 49%. And that’s it. KTM has no shares in CF Moto whatsoever, and CF Moto now owns 2% of Pierer Mobility AG (who owns KTM) Now, KTM’s structure is this. “In 2007, Indian automotive giant Bajaj joined forces with KTM, buying a 14.5% stake that it would later extend to 46.5%, owned via its Dutch subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV. In 2021, Bajaj swapped its stake in KTM for a share of Pierer Mobility AG, which now owns 98.2% of KTM”

Yeah, the KTM 490 platform being killed was a huge disappointment. I was really looking forward to a Husqvarna Svartpilen 501.😔

Interesting…it depends on price of course.My cb 500 x would cost around 8000 euro with upgraded suspension and as such it is widely used off-road .This bike should then be around 6500 euro to persuade anyone I think😊..but it will be more I am sure.

Who has been waiting for the Versys 400 ? Maybe this is the closest any manufacturer has gotten (and it's not from the Japanese big four). The three Aussie journos (MAD etc) were impressed from the Philippines launch (catch the dusty videos' - comfort break). And at six and a half grand for the base model here in the States, fingers crossed for the light 50/50 unicorn. I might get one with the milk money.

Looks very promising, but I will reserve judgement until someone gets their hands on it and does a respectable, off-road riding test with it. I do wish CF Moto would take some inspiration from Kove and keep the plastics more simple. Looking at this bike I kept saying to myself "I wanna rip off those plastics on the front and replace them with a bare bones Nav Tower".

Honestly given the weight of the 390 adventure id imagine ktms parallel twin 490 adventure would have been maybe only 5-6kg lighter than this… for adv riders this is about as good as it gets for a 450/500 parallel twin. U want lighter than that come over to the dual sport side…
@TheRealDuBTeK
@TheRealDuBTeK 7 месяцев назад
what dualsport 450/500 is available?
@Weltbummler23
@Weltbummler23 7 месяцев назад
@@TheRealDuBTeK at this point id say there is no dual sport in that segment, the kove 450 and crf450RL are more enduros with slightly longer maintenance intervals than a regular enduro. The kove needs valve checks and oil changed every 1200miles or 30 hours of riding, crf450RL even less.
@Weltbummler23
@Weltbummler23 7 месяцев назад
Actually i just realized kove released an 800x adventure which is an 800 parallel twin and much lighter than the cf450… no need to look for a cf450 or a ktm 490… why would u, the 800x looks way better than any light/middle adv bike on the market

it'a definitely maybe! Sounds like a good proposition.. just that.. where's the next CFMoto dealer? Is it reliable to take it in Simpson? It's low which makes it my dream come true, but how did they achieve that, what's the ground clearence now? How's the suspension comparing with the WPs? A healthy rider packing for 7 days in Simpson would probably weight 140Kg.. can the frame take that and some bashing?? Anyways, I bet Peter Stevens will take the dealership which is half good.. But yeah, I think this is a real contender to anything out there and why not, long live our chinese brothers, anything is made in china today. The dealer has the ultimate power to do or undo this bike!

dissapointed with kawasaki not adding a versys 500x in their lineup :x, if this mt450 arrives sooner than the transalp (out of stock where I am), will probably just buy this one as cfmoto is somewhat reputable in my country apart from being most of their past bikes being heavy, they're still now but their new lineup has improved on weight a bit.
