Fair point, but have you seen how brutal a 1st gear Z06 launch can be? The asses of those things will go completely sideways from the torque, Sure 2nd gear at 2K RPM may be excessively cautious. However I get the idea he was going to rely on the big American V8 Torque combined with warm tires for a clean launch and maybe overestimated it a bit. Looked like he was shifting a bit late too imo but maybe I'm wrong. That LS sounded like it was setup to be short shifted a bit with a conservative or even stock cam profile, Didn't sound like it liked it all the way up at 7K, but maybe I'm wrong.
6:00 to 7:13. The drivers' inputs. The Modena driver looks like he's driving at Le Mans. The GTR driver looks like he's driving to the grocery store. Yet the GTR wasn't passed. Driveability.

@JcmMagNoo Instead of just focusing on one track, try looking up several race tracks lap records for these cars, you'll see the superiority of the ZR1 over the GT-R, there's no denying that.. And about TopGear, they tested the GT-R on a dry track while both the Porsche and ZR1 were tested on a wet/damp track.. Why? Because TopGear and Clarkson are some stupid Brits that hate American cars regardless of how well-performing those cars are.
@JcmMagNoo In terms of quality and reliability the GT-R loses to the ZR1 terribly, not even a year out there and you can see broken trannys. The slighter mods on the car will make the car unstable and able to make it lose control than how it was originally designed, this is all confirmed by Nissan and even Nismo concurred on this as well.. When have you ever seen broken transmissions or anything mechanical on a Vette..?
@bigkckrva I wonder why the Mine's R34 never posted a lap record at Laguna Seca or Road America.. They always test it at tracks with the most uneven pavement, tell me if i'm not right LOL!! Look at Tsukuba Circuit's lap records, the base GT-R has a better lap record than the SpecV (SpecV = total ripoff).. FIA GT CHAMPIONSHIPS: Z06 1st, GT-R 26th, was it? Yes.. the GT-R is PATHETIC =]
i'm getting a little tired of people banging on the corvette lately. they are GREAT sports car espically for the money. and they have alot of potental like hear the z06 was handiy capped by smaller than stock wheels and an inverted start. but dispite the small wheels (and to some an old suspension,DO YOUR HOME WORK) to posted 2nd fastest lap during the qualify who knows how fast it really is with proper wheels and driver
The tires on the Z06 are waaaay smaller than what it comes with stock. It has 325 in the rears if memory serves. Did you see how the guy started in the Z06? lol they purposely underdrive certain cars for some reason. In some videos is more obvious than others. Why would you mode a Z06 and put skinnier tires on the car ???BM videos are nothing more than entertainment for me. I dont take what they do too seriously.
I don't see how this is biased towards the GT-R. It just has basic mods. Skinny tires on the Vette? How are 265 F 295 R skinnier than GT-R's 255 F 285 R? And besides, it clearly shows the quickest lap times with Modena as fastest, Z06 second, GT-R third. Don't make excuses, A GT-R deserves the props it gets.

@bigkckrva Take at look at the Laguna Seca times on Edmunds the GTR is "supposed" to be 1:40.45 but the GTR dissapeared off the list for sometime and then the above time showed up. Fact is the original time of the GTR was 1:39.62 so how come now the GTR is slower? So according to American tracks there harder to drive the GTR around than the Nurb I don't think so, do you?

So how can the ZR1 start later and finish AFTER the GTR but post a time 3/10ths faster... yes the timer is slower. Another Garage419 vid shows the ZR1 timer losing 1.1sec... fact! the vid don't lie...

The GT-R (with all the advantage at such track and equipped with VSpec components) ran 7:26.7 like it says on the video.. Stop dreaming, sw1000xg.. lolxz drivers make difference !! i have seen that f360 modena vs GTR in others race and every race the gtr has been winning with a wide difference about lap time and general speel exect this race lolxs but even with a lil scared driver the GTR won !!!

The GT R, unsurprisingly, was the best! Now what really amazed me was seeing the Ferrari modena coming so close to the powerful R GT, which in my view is the best cost benefit of the sporting world.

The P800 has 750hp whereas the ZR1 was a stage 1 LPE only pushing 670, is it? Not only does the GT-R has an HP advantage but also has the AWD which is more useful on the dragstrip under these circumstances.. What happened to the GT575 GT-R against the stock ZR1? Both with the same HP, the ZR1 won on the 1/4 mile =]

@812Twilightfan 6 cylinders vs 8 cylinders,3.8 vs 6.2,that's why it has turbos...either you put a big engine in a car or you put a smaller one with turbo(s)...just cause you hate automatic doesn't make it a bad thing,and they built a auto gear because it's all about performance,faster shifting...technology is the future and the japanese are the best at it..

in all this cars the GT3 RS is the best considering it is the real driver car, sure it is not the fastest but over more than the others.....not to mention it is the only not tuned car in the lot
