In this video, I showcase advanced cockpit techniques and tips. I demonstrate painting a "realistic" cockpit and an eye catching cockpit based on the methods used in the "Spanish style" of modeling.

Such a good explanation video, likely the best I’ve ever came across on cockpit weathering! I really like your approach that of a truly real cockpit cannot be achieved (it’s a model after all!), but more realism to it can be done. The Transparettor is a great product. It comes both in gloss and matt finishing and results change significantly depending on which one you use. For military models I tend to use the matt one. Excellent final result and truly eye catching!

Good video - does the Transpirator stuff work with Vallejo paint? Would Vallejo Glaze medium do the same i wonder ?

@@HvonCthe transparator works with all water based paints. And you are correct the glaze medium does the same thing. I figured that out only after I saw them both together.

Great video! You mentioned you used Ammo dial paint for the drybrushing in the cockpit. Can you share a link for this paint? I can't seem to find it.

Great video! Very informative as are all of your videos. Do have a question though, In earlier videos you give formulas for your "mix" and also discuss adding Future to your paint. I have tried that and they work. Question for you now is "What do you use in place of the Future?" Or were you one of the lucky ones that were able to buy mass quantities of the Future before it was gone from the shelves? Just curious. Tom

Hey Tom, glad you like the videos. Regarding your question about Future. I love Future, I grew up using Future and still think it is one of the best modeling items. So in the past, I would recommend adding in Future to acrylic primers, using it as a gloss coat, etc. Now that a bottle of Future is as expensive as gold, ha. I have had to find alternatives. So last couple years I have been testing alternatives. Here is what I found: For gloss coating: I recommend using Ak Gauzy Agent. It is awesome, it goes on just like future. It is rock hard in 30 mins, you can put enamel or oil washes on top with no problems. My second choice is Alclad Aqua gloss, it takes a bit longer to dry....but I found that it is one product that can handle oil, enamel, and acrylic washes. I can use Vallejo washes on top of Aqua Gloss, let them dry and use thinner to remove them, without issues. For priming, I recommend you use my thinner mixture to thin primer for airbrushing. I tested the thinner mixture on both Vallejo Primer and Badger Stynylez. It is a game changer for Vallejo primer, by mixing 30% thinner mixture into the primer. It helps it airbrush better, it lays down smoothly, and most importantly.....you can sand Vallejo primer after about 40mins! Normally you have to wait about 24 hours with Vallejo primer. With Badger it does the same thing. Now one area where I haven't found a good alternative for Future, is dipping canopies. I think dipping canopies in future gives them amazing realistic look. Nothing seems to perform the same as Future does on canopies. Future has been replaced by something called "Quick Shine"....while it works exactly like Future for gloss coating.....it does not work on canopies. It leaves runs. You can polish your canopy....but still not as good as Future in my personal opinion. Hope this helps!

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 There is a Gauzy Agent called Glass Coat. Here in the UK Future is now Pledge Revive It floor gloss.

@arewethereyetmodeling2196 3 месяца назад
@@FinsburyPhil Is the Gauzy agent the same one from Ak Interactive? And Pledge Revive has also been discontinued. But if you can get a bottle, yes it is "Future". A bottle will go a long long way!

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 There are two, both from AK. The gloss coat is called Shine Enhancer and is in a green bottle; the canopy gloss is called Glass Coat and is in an orange tub with a wide top to make it easier to dip the canopy.

@@FinsburyPhilHi Phil. Laminate protector by HG as far as I can see, does exactly the same as future. Wickes, B&Q, Homebase amongst others sell it 👍

I had no luck finding the "transparettor" product you mentioned - can you point me to a source? Thanks in advance. Great video by the way, really useful tips there.

Hey Mollygrubwr, glad you like the video! Happy to help find a source. Can you tell me where do you live? Are you in the US? Also, I found after that Vallejo glaze medium is pretty much the same thing. So if you can find the Ammo stuff, you could use Vallejo glaze.

Great video, thanks - I've subscribed. What's the name of your FB group? Could you substitute the Transparator for the Glaze Medium and vice-versa?

Thank you for subscribing! The Facebook group is called "Scale Modeling using Acrylics". And yes you can use the Tranparator and Glaze Medium, vice-versa. I only figured that out once I compared the two together. So if you can't find one, just use the other.
