Rare footage of the nunchuks filmed over 40 years ago performed by Kim Cho trained by Master Steve Morris in only 6 months, training 6 hours a day, all the movements are Steve Morris idea's.
One of the best videos on the use of the Nunchaku I've seen. Not doing flashy but usless spining around the neck, wrist or back of the hand. Holding them correctly (not up by the chain). I've been a practitioner for over 30 years. NICE JOB!!!!!
He really demonstrates the key elements of nunchaku. -great transitioning -quick, powerful strikes -good control from a variety of positions All combined creates a flurry of attacks that are difficult to defend against.
@@AlienPsyTing1 just a question :p could've been the case right? It's always good to train with people who were under a good 'lineage' of trainers in my opinion
I have to agree with the comments below. This is the best demonstration of nunchuck skills on you tube this is not just tricking. This is for kicking ass and taking heads !
This is proper combat nunchaku I think. Notice, he doesn't change sticks in his move. The same hand always holds the same stick, which is different when you treat nunchaku as a toy. Whatever the stick he grips, 1 - he grips by the middle, not close to the rope; 2 - he doesn't make the rope swing the back of his hands to change sticks - which is fancy nunchakus moves. By the way, i'm not against fancy nunchakus, i myself do it all the time and its the only thing i can do. But this demonstration is bloody awsome.
I wonder how long will I take to reach this level! Just started off around 5 days back. We can see the his clothes darkened by his nunchaku hits, also not to forget the gazzillion times he hit himself while learning to this perfection!
Depends where you want to twirl your Nunchuck around your body. It takes about a couple of months to understand the Nunchuck (your movement of the wrist, the weight and length of Nunchuck you are using), your shoulder, waist and hip movement and the force you are using but you are not ready for combat yet. Keep twirling around all over your body for practicing. Then try to hit the still target then moving target. It is not easy because it is an art, that's why it is called martial art. Please note twirling is far different from hitting (that's not an appropriate word in this matter). Sorry guys, I am not teaching or coaching or lecturing, just like to contribute my little knowledge to people who loves art. Yes I hit my head and kneels once.
Tip for learning nunchaku's, if you're not as good using one had as the other - use both - your right/left hand will help teach your left/right hand ;) you're welcome
Rear to find anyone who can really utilize Nunchaku for combat *!*!*!*!* This is the guy you need to run from! His Power, and Balance is as good as it gets. * * * * * 5 stars for Him, and Five * * * * * for posting... True Paul D'
This is not combat footage, this is cool katas, amazing really , but not a testament in anyway to useful striking technique, you can't get that from slicing through air, however you can tailor exercises to support combative strikes, once you have mastered effective striking skills.
Makes me tired just looking at all that swinging and he’s a master. You all are missing the point I use them but minimum swingingjust point and flick of the wrist. I started like that but am now above that level
what style.of nunchucku is this? Is this from okinawan kobudo? or karate style? kung fu style? are the moves original moves by the korean guy? first time ive seen this moves, its all combat based strikes
These are useful exercises, and katas, and he is outstanding with them, to be sure, but... Unless you're actually hitting something, you can only guess if this will work for you, as a weapon, have a back up plan.
STEVE MORRIS TAUGHT THIS KOREAN BLACK BELT IN 6 MONTHS, TRAINING 6 DAYS A WEEK, 6 HRS PER DAY, THE FOOTAGE WAS SENT TO USA, FILM COMPANIES, AT THE TIME BRUCE LEE MADE HIS DEBUT IN ENTER THE DRAGON, THE REPLY FROM USA WAS IT WAS TO FAST AND ADVANCED FOR THEM.
@@kick1 Interesting, makes sense , what Bruce did was amazing, this is a cut above, but yeah, it might have been a bit much for the film industry at the time.
6mo but... 6h/day! It gives 1000hours of training... If you train 1h/day it wuould take 3 years, if 1h 3 times a week (like nowadays people usually train) it takes 6-7 years... To learn ONLY nunchucks! And probably he was a martial artist before so had a good foundation of coordination, moves and phisical preparation.
I can only guess , 12'' to 13'' or 14'', they look like they could be longer than the standard 12", looks like about a 4'' leather strap, which might be similar to a 5 link chain length equivalent. Standard chain lengths today seem to be about 3 link to 7 link. Hard to say the stick material too, could be Rattan, they look very light, but could also be wood, I would guess rattan.
nunchuks give me a ror cup roblem,my right arm roter cup is worn bad but i still swing my chuks.i will swing my chuks until i have bad pan in my arm, then i will quit.
