Valeu por apontar esse sutileza! Eu já lutei com isso como aluna. Tem um gloss em inglês que talvez possa ajudar a fazer a distinção mais intuitiva, que é "should": "Should you want to learn portuguese in the future [Se você quiser aprender], let me know." versus "If you want to learn a language [Se você quer aprender], it's important to immerse yourself in it." "Should they go to Brasil [Se eles forem ao Brasil], I'll put them in touch with my friend" vs "If you're going to Brasil [Se você vai ao Brasil], you need a visa". Não funciona em todos os casos, mas geralmente, se dá para substituir "if" por "should" na frase, aí devia usar o futuro do subvjuntivo.

What a clear and helpful explanation! I admit that I'm one of the students who has wondered this. Virginia sometimes says "se você quiser apoiar..." but also says "se você gosta do meu conteudo" and I never understood why the latter phrase is not in the subjunctive. As always, Virginia is able to explain things that cause confusion to Portuguese learners with amazing clarity.

A coisa com a qual tenho problemas é "seja" como usar e quando usar isso 😭 3 anos de estudo e há muitas coisas ainda difícil. É louco né 😂

Idk if this is correct.. but I use QUISER as "to wish" for example.. to answer questions.. if my friend asks me something like "do you want a spoiler to this book?" I really don't want to but I know she wants to say it.. so I say "se você quiser" and at least I believe this is a way of saying "if you wish" 😂 hopefully correct. And if not she understands what I mean 😂 I believe it's correct though
