I've always found it hilarious the way Lilith says the line "you shot Oz!" in the Carrier intro, with the kind of annoyance in her voice like if she was upset that Lennox had left the milk out for too long.
I thought Oz while infected still retaining some human functions wasn't himself which is why he sounds grateful for dying and narrates the teams achievements in the final cutscene
@@Stanley557 Ah no worries! Just a guy who spent way to much time looking at lore even though I could rarely do most of the EE's myself. Enjoyed the video!
The only thing I want to mention is how fucking amazing that original AW zombies cutscene was with you having the horde swarm around you it's the only time the zombies felt like an actual swarm other than in WW2s boat cutscene
I just want to defend the trident real quick. The best way to use it is to bounce it off of the ground so it bounces up into zombies, and of off the walls so it bounces into zombies. If you shoot it at them, it doesn't do the same damage at all. Also, the spa is almost the worst room to use it in (other from outside), and it still works really well. I think the best places to use it are are the annex, lounge, and the reception. It's a great gun and I think it's underrated due to people not knowing how to use it. No hate, just saying
It was honestly my favorite gun to use as geometry and angles are the only aspect of math I'm actually good at. I'm really observant as well so that helps in using the Trident.
@@Stanley557 The MW engine is better than the BO4 engine which is why CW feels clunky in comparison. The MW engine has problems too though like not being able to swim.
@@Jasonhoods oh NOOO!!! WE CANT SWIM IN A COD GAME, STOP THE PRESSES!!! CANCEL THE NEW COD IF ITS RUNNING ON THE MW ENGINE GUYS WE CANT SWIM I REPEAT WE CANNOT SWIM
@@Dampzombieslayer he said its a problem with the engine. I say thats fucking bullshit. Im not playing cod to swim. Thatd be like complaining about a lack of fighting mechanics in forza.
you're really good at making me want to do easter eggs, but then i remember that there's a reason i've still never done maps like shaolin shuffle and outbreak.
I have to admit, being on a binge of Zombies related content, and getting back into Cold War Zombies after taking a break because of the ActiBlizzard lawsuit, I really appreciate the algorithim recommending me your videos. You are incredibly concise in your opinions, you aren't at all prone to falling into the sort of hype and content related traps a vast majority of COD RU-vidrs do, and you have a good voice for this long form stuff.
And I still fucking hate the Atlas Corporation. Jokes aside, if not for AW Zombies, Bruce Campbell probably wouldn't be in a CoD game. Up till MW2 of course.
@@Stanley557 np man great stuff, would like it if you’re thumbnails were a little less cluttered though, they’re kinda too much for your eyes at a passing glance for me
Yeah I have a terrible history of filling the thumbnail with too much. I'm always afraid i don't have enough. But i appreciate it though, stuff like this always helps me become a better and better youtuber as I find better way to create and share videos
Yeah, its in the early stages, gotta actually get footage before any analysis and video making can happen, especially with school back up and running now but I promise the cycle has begun again!
Believe it or not, it's very early in the works right now. I'm simply just playing the maps right now and taking notes. It might not be out for a while but it's on my mind for sure. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I just don't understand how a few of you can think WW2 had potential. When are people going to realize Sledgehammer can't make good games? where is the potential from a group of people who think adding fog to make you unable to see is a good idea? What about the maps got split into the 3? Sledgehammer will never ever in a million years pull their weight at Activision. They are an absolute joke of a studio that should have been relegated to remasters of older Activision games years ago
@@Jasonhoods It felt different in a good way, unlike iw zombies. The enemy design with all the metal and gore was really good. Some of them were inspired by Dead space enemies, like the Darkest shore special enemy resembled the Necromorph. There's many other things that certainly put this zombies mode in good category. Definately not the worst. That title goes to either Exo (for worst balance) or Vanguard (for pretty much no content or support )
I never got WW2 back in the day, and I've been going back and trying out zombies games I missed so I bought it the other day, I was surprised to have actually had some fun on it. I've only played a couple maps and done the casual egg on the final Reich, so it may get old quick, but so far I'm enjoying it.
Ya know what, I'm gonna take a quote from the expert on describing things for the Trident: "It BOUNCES?! Who makes a gun that bounces?! This has got to be the worst gun ever. Of all time." (Agent Washington, Red VS Blue season 10)
The only way I was able to really enjoy Outbreak was by getting four people camping around the pack a punch room. Don't open the door to spawn and zombies only come one way. It's actually a decently fun camping area and I don't even like camping in zombies. Just discovered your channel the other day and I'm already liking what I see. You seem a lot more positive and open then most zombie youtubers who just dismiss everything that isn't WaW-BO3
I personally love AW zombies because of how aggressive the horde is. Regardless of what type, the zombies are quick to rush you and ruin whatever little semblance of a train you might have. Also, the storyline was a lot easier to understand. Edit: The only thing I like about Infection’s burger step is if you give Bubby the burger during a round he goes on a rampage
I have some more to say (sorry). The s12 doesn't have a lot of ammo as a tradeoff to it's high damage. I personally hate the gun because the ammo runs out so fast, but its so powerful if almost evens out. I also think descend deserves better. I think it's the best map in AW, and the new combined zombie types blow up if you get close to them, so they Dont really matter. Descent has good boss fights, the map is really good, and I personally like the Easter egg. It might be hard, but it's fun. I think descent should be significantly higher than carrier, which is my least favorite map. Still, its obvious that you spent a lot of time on this video and I enjoyed watching it. Its really good. I'll probably be back in the comments lol, I'm going to finish the video now
Hey glad you enjoyed the video! These were just my own opinions and thoughts on each map and I'm glad people like to counter them. This series is so diverse and I'm happy most people don't share the same opinions. It makes the conversation more interesting.
tbh i think AW zombies has a solid base it was built upon but needs the refining that a first attempt at zombies lacks, if they made a AW 2 (at least zombies) and learned from their mistakes (or at least gave this review a look) i feel like a great zombie would come out, i feel like a in-between the direction of this game on the more silly and futuristic aesthetic and the more pure horror like look of ww2 zombies were put together it would be a unforgettable experience, a futuristic turned horror and decayed aesthetic, think of the clean offices suddenly decayed where instead of the decay of time you look at the destruction of a sudden and overwhelming interruption and death from the fighting and trying to escape the zombies, like you see in the opening cutscene of outbreak. back in the day when this game came out i had a ton of fun with a friend of mine to play split screen this game on the xbox, with burger town being our favorite map to play. i only pray if they are to make a sequel its in the old style of zombies not the cold war introduced style of zombies gameplay as for the packapunch i kinda the ability to basically buy ammo by upgrading the thing but i think that maybe it should be a separate thing from packapunch, like, a classic two maybe three style packapunch present and the 25 time upgrade which still grants a small amount of damage and attachments, this way you keep the encouragement to spend points but resolve the issue of it being super expensive, a race against time and a weak upgrade. as for the dilemma listed at the start on how to get the player exo movement balanced against hoards as with emp is annoying without too easy to escape, i think something along the line of either a longer cooldown on movements or the ability of zombies to jump up and knock you out of the air (but to make it less annoying you could have the player get the ability to counter it by doing a mid air dash to "dodge the zombie" turning it into a player skill based system
And you’ve done it again, my friend. Savin me money is the move to do. Also to the emz’s the hud goin out and frequency of their spawns would seem like a problem for me. Thanks again.
I feel like the emz’s could be better by only spawning them every few waves. And maybe having like one or two or maybe three emz’s spawn in with the boss for infection or none at all
Another quick note I just want to mention is that this mode was actually made by Raven Software, not SHG. The only mode Sledgehammer themselves have made are WW2 Zombies. Otherwise very good video, loved it
The casting for actors and dialouge between them was what got my stepdad into aw its the only cod he's ever thought looked cool or fun and only zombies mode
Exo zombies is much like actual zombies unlike outbreak (bocw) and vanguard. Just think most people disliked it for being too difficult and people dislike EEs that make no sense, but they never make sense, from moon, to de, to all of bo4, etc, the steps never truely make sense, they just need to be fun to do.
Advanced Warfare is the newest Call of Duty game I have that's because I'm on PS3 and I've always loved playing EXO zombies I know it's not perfect but I feel like I had a lot of potential and I wish they would have took another shot at it and improved where they needed to
Comparing the cliffhanger of Infection to stopping midsentence is not a good comparison and I don't even like AW. When you stop midsentence, all flow is dropped, the tone of the sentence is randomly killed, and all tension is lost. The Infection cliffhanger is not that random. There is a swell of music right before the cut to black and watching the cutscene you can see it isn't as arbitrarily random as stopping midsentence. The previous tension of the overwhelming zombies is relieved before introducing a new type of tension; one specifically designed to end in a cliffhanger. The only way that comparison works would be if it randomly cut to black shortly after the sentinel ship came in shooting everything. If as soon as it passed the Burger Town sign, it stopped and cut to black (with no music swell or other indications it was about to end) THEN the comparison would work.
is it just me or does the color pallet seem more bearable when you get emped? Like look above and below in shots where there are lots of light or colors, it looks like they over saturated (right word?) everything and undid those changes while emped
I honestly have to say, if the infection zombies were removed, I would have enjoyed it so much better. I remember those days tho, wonder if I’m still top 10 outbreak starting room.
I remember when I used to play AWZ as a kid for each map there would always be a glitch spot you can get too by eco jumping and landing on a certain spot. It would literally be on every map but would always be patched when each new DLC would come out. On outbreak i reached round 135 just from one spot
Great vid! My only criticism is that you used games that came out way after to demerit AW. I do think it’s good to compare to put in perspective but not really to demerit or make it sound better. Older games however I understand. Other than this. This is a very well constructed vid. Gained a sub :)
Completely fair, the reason I brought up future games was to show how a similar idea is repurposed but to me these are always like fun puzzles. You can learn something from the past and future
@@Stanley557 that’s a great way to look at it. I’ve enjoyed your content and think you need more recognition. Hopefully you get a big break soon enough. Have a good one dude :)
@@tarriiusxd6318 thanks man! I already feel like I've had my big break. And I can't wait to bring you all more content! Currently I'm working on a four hour cold war review

But I’d be happy to get footage if needed and send it through
Ain’t no way you gave outbreak 4/10💀 That map was the first map and it was easier then the other maps which is a good thing and the Easter egg wasn’t as hard and there were two where u can win and there’s one where the copter gets shot down by atlas that map was simple which is a good thing bc it was the first map in exo zombies which introduced the zombies mod greatly and the map is actually fun that map is easily 8/10 it’s a great map if anyone thinks that map is bad then ur skill level is way too low bc all u have to deal with that are dangerous are infected zombies and dogs that’s it that map is a great map idk how on earth anyone would have the mind to even put it close to 4/10💀 and most of the characters are badasses and the core of the virus oz he was a badass as well and the zombies may be annoying to go against but if u use ur small brain and target the emp zombies or infected zombies then u would reach a higher round and I do agree with the bleed out time but they were trying to make it hard which they did succeed in which is great bc most zombies is easy but this isn’t easy which is why I love this game mode bc u actually have to have skill unlike other zombies modes where u can run around in circles like some maniac on drugs and get to round a million with zero skill
It’s a lackluster map with poor color schemes, poor maneuverability, and very limited replayability. Its also not any harder or easier than other maps due to the difficulty of the game coming from enemy types as opposed to actual design, so this “skill” comment you mention makes no sense, and is a weak argument that could apply to any map of your choosing. I don’t know why I’m explaining this though when the review already explains all this
It’s funny….the first time I played Exo Zombies was in 2019 when my brother got me to play with him. I will say that even with thousands of hours of COD zombies under my belt, I shit the bed so hard when it came to Exo Zombies. My brother was the one constantly reviving me haha
I adore exo zombies more than most so much on carrier I can do the laser maze step without being drunk it's really fun to do and it makes getting faster times much easier
It's crazy that aw zombies was so bad in comparison to what we have got since. At the time I thought it was an absolute masterpiece and was too young to care about story. I found the Easter eggs to be very challenging yet rewarding (in comparison to the cods before it) aw zombies was not a typical zombies game you could play once or even 10 times and be good at. I liked how the stats and leaderboards kept track of your time in zombies separated from the rest of the game. I personally had an almost split amount of time played between MP and zombies being 20 days in zombies and 28 in mp. After watching your video in whole I can only be hopeful for an even better AW2 since in my mind before watching this video I remembered the game as the best cod of my life. We all wanted a different kind of call of duty. We were sick of the same game different skin kind of cod and AW delivered on it. Not to mention the graphics on AW are objectively better then even the newest call of duty games.
I loved this game.downside was buying first zombies map.but it was the first game I went hard at Easter eggs the planko machine drove me nuts.had so much fun.only zombies that I have like since was cold war.spaceland and rave in woods was ok.but attack of the radioactive thing and the chemical step drove me nuts.first three maps were ok
I always thought that Raven made the zombies mode for this game? Unless they just played a larger part in development. Also, this is the only game where shotguns outclass that of Cold War for value. 1. They are really good for killing. 2. They give 10 points per pellet that connects with a zombie. Also, you could get points while down for some reason. (Made this comment before fully watching.)
Haha when I originally made the video I was unaware it was Raven who made this mode. This would be corrected in later videos and you know I never once considered that's what made shotguns so good
My biggest complaint about this game is how horrible the names are. Outbreak?? Infection??? That's the same thing twice!! It's freaking burger town man. Outbreak might as well be called shithole or something. Carrier is generic as hell too. Also it's way too damn hard
Indeed, something I didn't comment on enough in the review was the game's difficulty especially in high rounds. Also I have to ask, do you climb everything?
Nothing has made me sadder than realizing Bruce Campbell was waisted on this game. The Evil Dead movies are masterpieces and he deserves to play some badass loser on a main zombies story celebrity crew.
This game is an amazing example of a C- i don’t want my money back because I kinda enjoyed my play through, but I’d rather play a different game any day
I’m surprised no criticism for not earning points during the Oz boss fights. The long drawn out fights without earning any points really hinders the ability to buy weapon upgrades, which further inhibits player power leveling
@@jasonblue7220 probably a mix between Carrier and Descent. Carrier is a good challenge and has a fun wonder weapon. Descent is too story heavy with the three Oz encounters that take up three separate rounds but the Trident and Blunderbuss wonder weapons. With a pretty good layout but confusing level design
So I had a problem with aw not having a zombie map on disk so the only one I bought was decent and had and alright time with it i think I got up to the final stage of oz fight a couple times
Yeah weird I always fell last when I played with people and I mean ALWAYS and I can agree it was hard to revive folks so I tried to build the zombies up run away then revive
Exo Zombies could have been fun, if SHG didn't work so hard to limit the fun. I'm hoping it makes a semi come back at some point. Maybe in Outbreak 2.0, in BO5, one zone to warp in could have Exo abilities limited to that zone. It could be fun.
The only characters i like are decker and the sentinel guy. I like them because they're actors i recognize from other zombie content. Black Ops 1 did it better with Call of the Dead.
What is the deal with Xbone CoD games having blown out contrast? The games are supposed to be hyper realistic with detail and most of it is blown out by a disgusting contrast ratio.
