Hope you enjoyed the video! This review was a blast to work on and I'm so happy with how it came out except for the 45 music title cards which all say Fire Emblem Enage and not Engage. Thank you all so much for 15k subscribers! But let me know what you all thought of the new music (if you could even hear it) wanted to try something that wasn't the same 14 tracks from my other reviews and I thought it worked really well this time around
It's always good to slowly add more of your personality. I love how you review because it's your thoughts. So this also applies to music. We all are fans of other series. I just don't want Stanley557 to be that one person who does zombies. Stanley557 is Stanley557. That being said, I'm still shocked to hear fire emblem music underrated OST same with the persona series.
@garciaeddie5 so sadly I don't play many other games it's why most of the music was zombies for so long so I was really happy to listen to Engage's ost and felt it was a good fit for the video. Hopefully one day I'll be able to pull a bunch of different music as it fits each scenario and topic. Glad you enjoyed it!
The worst part about it is I genuinely felt duped, the insane dropoff in support and continued content is so felt throughout the entire game, especially in the season graphics showing all the new content and consistently relegating Zombies to a tiny little corner if even in the picture at all.
That ls why I'm glad I played it for like a month, maybe less, and then havetn't touched it, or the game at all. Yes i payed 70$ for the bs but saved alot of time not holding out hope. Hope bo6 stands strong.
Thing is u cant really be surprised at this point. After vanguard, cold war, and sadly even bo4, they have repeatedly hype things up and then just drop the ball again and again like we playing basketball lmfao. We can talk it up to it being time/covid/warzone blah blah blah. But if bo6 follows the same fate then its not time/covid/warzone. Its the dev team. Cause they got four years and a lot of money and resources. Sooooooo we will see if treyarch still has what it takes or they just dont know what they doing
1:02 this is quite LITERALLY the reason I love your channel so much, giving so much love and attention to the often forgotten and unloved parts of the zombies franchise is WAY more interesting to me than "yeah black ops 3 was the goat" for 2 hours that I've heard 9 times already
@@InciteSarcasm Almost as if waw, bo1, bo2, bo3 and even bo4 all play like zombies, have heart and soul put into them and have far better systems than what warzone slop we are getting today. Only the brainlets are letting this massive drop off in quality slide
@@ama9385-w2g I’m speaking of games like AW, WW2, and IW which are games which have their own positives and even things they do better than games like bo3. Especially WW2 and IW, AW less so.
MWZ was decently fun but that fun will always be subjective as videogames should be. I don't blame Treyarch for getting out early, but the lore of MWZ had to beat around the bush being set after the largest entry in the DA timeline. This led MWZ to be one big teaser for BO6 while leaving a small crack in the door in case they need to magic up another modern zombies mode in the future. There's NO proof I have a bias here, but I think Vanguard gave us more purposeful worldbuilding with the lore even if the mode was cashbait like MWZ. One of the two got an ending though...
Man, Rizzo yelling THE MIMICCCCC has been haunting my mind for a while now, kept thinking I heard it during the video! Wait.... But seriously, an excellent video good sir
Having completely skipped Vanguard and MWZ as a player who only plays Zombies modes, I'm very happy with my purchasing decisions. It was difficult initially to resist the urge to avoid "Treyarch Developed Zombies" but very glad I managed to hold myself back seeing how both modes were handled.
Nothing like a 2-hour long GOATley557 video to listen to while I work on stuff. MWZ definitely had a strong start, despite all odds, but they fumbled it straight out the gate with middling updates in favor of shifting focus on BO6 (which is probably a good thing in hindsight, but I still can't help but feel slighted after spending $60 on this). This type of game mode definitely has potential though in future zombies entries, but I feel with how MWZ was treated by the developers (and frankly the playerbase) any chance of that is squandered.
The problem I had with mwz was for its story. There wasn't any good main antagonist. I mean think about it. We had some good main antagonist for zombies in the past even from the non- treyarch developers. I mean we got Willard weiler from iw Peter straub from world war II and so many others. Well all we got in mwz is just Zacyev who only shows up in The preseason
MWZ makes me so sad because it really did a 180 for me at launch. I was a hater pre-launch, then I really enjoyed the game from launch to S1. Then after S2 it felt like it just got more and more depressing despites more content still dropping
Hearing all this Fire Emblem music in a CoD Zombies video was not on my bingo list but seeing two things I’ve been a fan of crossover randomly like this pleases me
I played MWZ like crazy until I beat Greylorm and the 1st elder sigil rift. After that, and seeing every update was just another rift, I felt like I had my fill. The last story mission looked cool though!
this isnt super related to the video at large but, i discovered you on twitter a few weeks ago and you showed up on my feed slowly more and more with zombies related things and brought such a fun and refreshing take to see on everything when all i had ever seen in discussion with the mode for year it seemed at that point was solely negativity. i'm really glad to have discovered your channel and see such a refreshing take on everything to do zombies related and have genuinely good insight and thought into everything and feel like just "oh x thing is bad". your videos are fantastic and so clearly have so much love and talent behind them. excited to see anything and everything you put out content wise for this upcoming year. o7
As someone who’s played every zombies experience since the OG WaW I enjoyed my time with MWZ and I think if another studio like Sledgehammer or IW take the reins of MWZ with the proper time to develop and good post launch it could be a huge mode along side Treyarch’s traditional round based. I think zombies as a mode has so much room to experiment and provide a variety of experiences, but it’s all how it’s handled and unfortunately MWZ just wasn’t handled the best. MWZ was definitely unique and provided me with an experience I wouldn’t get from any other COD zombies mode so hopefully this idea isn’t thrown to the wayside and another studio picks it up and runs with it. Great video Stanley.
Fantastic video! MWZ is such a weird game for me. I do enjoy playing it but only in short bursts. Like I'll play a game and then not touch it for like three weeks then play a single game and the cycle repeats. Just like with Vangoated, if there were survival maps thrown into the game I think the community would be a lot nicer to the game. MWIII features 8 different zombies themed remakes of multiplayer maps. Why didn't they just have these be survival maps. Yeah they wouldn't exactly be great but it's at least new content and gives round based players a chance to play the game. Also very surprising the map never recieved any seasonal change up like the Blackout map did. Blackout had the zombies themed version of the map with fog and red water and there was also the flooded version that changed the entire layout. It seems like such an obvious thing to add to MWZ. Then after the seasonal event the variant of the map becomes another map you can play on. Another surprising thing (which I wouldn't have played) is that they never added a PvPvE mode. You'd think with the whole Deadbolt vs. Terminus thing that'd be a given. Maybe as Terminus you could retake fortresses taken by Deadbolt soldiers. Maybe Terminus could have unique objectives like defending the drills from AI Deadbolt soldiers. Or better yet actual players! We haven't seen multiplayer zombies modes since Black Ops 2 so you'd think they would wanna jump on that idea. Also, why didn't they add the scavenger? It's a giant map, you'd think the ONE sniper rifle wonder weapon would be the most obvious choice. Idk at this point I'm just spitballing ideas for a game that clearly didn't have the resources it needed. Regardless, great video as always!
This game looks really sick in tier 3 when you're watching someone who's completely set up. The setup to get there looks so boring that I'll never bother to do it
THE MIMIC! anyway another great video stan i might give another chance to the mode while waiting for bo6, the last time i played it was during preseason
It’s really upsetting that zombies keeps getting abandoned. MWZ has a lot of great of stuff but it’s like you said. For every good thing, there’s like 3 that are big stinkers. One step forward two steps back. I love the idea of jumping forward into the future and seeing Requiem is all dead, Ravenov is still alive, and many other plot points had me excited for every new update! The cutscenes were amazing. But it being left to die is so frustrating
Everyone calling zombie fans toxic for being critical of liberty balls doesn’t understand that when Activision caters to warzone fans, the result is the fate of MWZ.
item sharing in this game is the best. shout out to spawn for giving me a bunch of cool stuff like scorcher schematics in the game. you will never be forgotten.
A fun but incredibly disappointing experience. To bait us and say this was supposed to be a full year of zombies content only to literally fall off in season 2
Really nice video Stanley, been playing MWZ since it came to gamepass as I couldn't justify getting MW3 just for the zombies when it released but I've been having a lot of fun with it as flawed as it is! Also every time I heard THE MIMIC it felt like rizzo had seeped into your brain and video lmao
@@Stanley557Thank you, I was listening to it while doing stuff on my phone and I heard “THE MIMICCC” and it made me laugh really hard, it took me off guard, also the 25+ times I also heard it are still really funny, should do it in every video lol
Even though the mode got the bare minimum support, I still really enjoy it for what it is. I said to my friends at the start of the year, if the game never got an update I'd be ok with that just because of how much I love it at the core. Sure it sucks that it didn't get much support, but I'm just so glad it exists in the first place. This mode gave me exactly what I wanted back in mw2019 when the spec ops was advertised as giant missions in an open world type environment. It's not for everybody, but I love this mode and I'm gonna continue playing it alongside old and new round based maps
The strangest part about the entire MWZ cycle was the day after S5 reloaded dropped. The tonal shift in how matches are played and more the shift of the playerbase that's left playing now is so different from the rest of the game's life cycle. Before every game had the entire lobby in T3 and now T3 is a ghost town. T3 has been consistently empty ever since S5R now and its so strange. There's never been any other instance in another title where we see such a drastic shift in how a match plays out. Now I basically have the triangles to myself instead of having to rush into T3 at the start of a match even with portal knowledge and still not be fast enough because 3 scorchers would still beat me there. Easily set myself up for the next match with 2 crystals & tools still leaving the bulk of the game to grind out the mastery calling card challenges without needing to worry about loot for next match.
I'm glad you could see the good within mwz alongside the bad rather than just domming on the game mode like Mr. Waffle would do all because it's not round base and BO3. I'm happy to see that you could be positive with mwz.
They said more people played outbreak than round based but mwz had one of the least active player bases second only to vanguard, i feel like activision lie about player statistics. Also this might be a hot take but i think mwz wouldve actually been better if it was extinction instead. The cryptids mobility compliments the open world design much more than shambling zombies and the worm bosses feel like theyre straight out of extinction already. I can see the contracts system totally replacing extinctions challenge system to level up and get skill points and itd be cool to go around the map destroying hives.
Hiiii Stanley!! God Bless You!! Greetings from Venezuela!! Just Completed Gorod Krovi on Base Gubblegums! Shadows Of Evil, Revelations and Moon to go! Ive missed your streams!
2 hours!? BANGER! I'd like to say before watching, that i thought MWZ was a fun time. it wasn't amazing sure, especially if you were looking for round based zombies, but i think MWZ has been the best example in recent years in introducing zombies to a casual community, with the timer actually being a helpful incentive to not have your games go on for hours and hours.
As someone who really enjoyed mwz throughout its peak it was really sad to see it fall so quickly. While I understand they needed to move dev time to bo6 I still think what we've seen so far is not 4 years of AAA dev time.
Great review Stanley, to me this game had so much potential especially during the launch but as time went on it was clear that the mode was abandoned and the reuse of Warzone assists was a little disappointing but I’m looking forward to BO6 zombies it looks so good
I played the game back in December when it was free for the weekend. And I had some fun, (mainly because I was on pc) so I bought, only to then see a week later that they will stop supporting it. I felt scammed. But since I didn’t play MW2 and MW3, I had so many weapons to try out. I always try to look at the positives. But this game just…..disappointing.
As a MWZ and Outbreak fan, this was a great review and I am glad that you were very much fair and also critical with it. I am definitely stciking with MWZ as I love the open world zombie concept especially with cod zombies and it is what got me into cod zombies with Outbreak. I am still on a camo grind and having fun until BO6 zombies. I am thankful that it was given a chance nonetheless despite its flaws and it being at the end of the cycle.
@@Furinalover2736 of course! I'm glad it came across that way. I have a ton of issues with the mode but there is a ton to like despite what people may think and I'm glad it came across that way!
I need a sound bite for THE MIMIC🗣️‼️ Also excellent video you and I basically share the same thoughts and opinions on what went well and what went wrong this was definitely a great project at first but then got left in the dust due to SHG not being a very capable studio (sorry advanced warfare fans i promise im one of you) and pressures from Activision and Microsoft plus treyarch being pulled between their own project and this. Edit. Speaking on replayability but this mode is also entirely online and given how unpopular it is I definitely don't see it's servers being left on for very long let alone people playing it unless they're absolutely hardcore outbreak fans but once Microsoft/Activision pull the plug thats it I'm surprised DMZ still has servers tbh.
might be stupid but i feel like ima miss this game, the update releases were so different to what we're use to in zombies. hope they give it another chance after we get a year or 2 of sweet, sweet round based
This title was so upsetting for me. After DMZ, I thought COD was finally making some good warzone alternatives. As someone who loved Warzone 1, it was fantastic. When MWZ was announced as basically PVE DMZ, I was so excited. Even when it came out, and everyone was shitting on it, I was hopeful. When the first "content" update launched, I knew it was dead
This is made worse by the fact that DMZ would get most of the Warzone 2 content as it was updated. They even added the Halloween stuff into DMZ, which was awesome.
I actually like the idea of Zombies being the 3rd mode for Modern Warfare games too, just that I hope they never do it again the way they did it for mw3 🙏🙏 I want actual round based zombies
I really hope the eather blade comes back in bo6. Maybe the design is more crude like a raw crystal since bo6 is further back in time. Not to mention it would be really cool to see a upgrade quest for it similar to the boost from the hells redeemer to retriever
What a banger and massive block of a video. Good job. Indeed the mode had potential but the sudden layoffs from MS at activision during its lifecycle is the reason in my personal opinion to just do the bare minimum and possibly spare content for end 2025 CoD
Having only the Warzone map was the biggest letdown for me, if they had added rebirth island and vondel, as additional maps alongside urzikstan, the mode would have been a lot more fun
Of course, I've only just started watching the video, but I'll put my 5 cents in on this topic: MWZ - despite the fact that it's a generally undercooked game, it's the best social experiment within COD, even surpassing DMZ.
Absolutely amazing work of a video! Its pretty refreshing to see more videos with actual and fair criticisms! Can't wait to see more. (Blink twice if Rizzo held you at gun point to put "THE MIMIC" sound effect everytime it was seen. Ngl it was low-key very distracting from watching the video and would have been better without it)
@@Stanley557 we could hear it just fine. But it doesn't make the video any worse in the slightest though! It is still very comprehensible and very nice to watch. So stand proud, you can cook
A small comment on the small tidbit of Ava dialogue you pointed out in the Act 2 cutscene: The first half of her dialogue seems like someone trying to parse through their own thoughts, but Treyarch didn't want to add any um's or uh's, because, while it humanizes a character, it doesn't entirely make for good writing, as it doesn't entirely flow well. This argument does fall apart when Selma interrupts, however, because holy crap is that direction god awful on Treyarch's part.
For me the worst part is look at how much DMZ did in conparison. They added in multiple new maps and enemy factions, they added in new mechanics with lore integration giving growth to both the world and the gameplay options. They added in special contracts that were exclusive to specific maps and even had seasonwide events (like when we teamed up with Shadow company in season 5). I understand Treyarch had their own title to uphold but it felt they did the bare minimum of support and plot (heck we have no closure on Zakhaev or Fletcher still) with granted some fun mechanics but nothing else of note. Even the rewards are barebones minus the two dark Aether rewards, wheras dmz had constant refreshes. I love MWZ it was a mode that was just fun and a good socializing mechanic but man. It could’ve been so much more had they taken influence from the title prior. Like seriously junk items, they serve no purpose past the initial runs, why not bring back barter and weapon stations, give bartering away of junk items for supplies like Aether tools or upgrades. Would’ve made the actual looting loop way better for death then the incredibly unfun and punishing experience of a crash. Honestly I really enjoy the mercs I just wish they were balanced a bit better, it’s what I wanted out of the whole Omega vs Requeim in Cold War with it feeling like a push and pull between both sides. It gives it something we’ve never had before and working with/against the mercs makes for some incredible moments. They just really sucked Balance wise (since I think they were taken from pre nerf DMZ where they reduced their weapon damage by wanna say around 25% and accuracy as well) As well I wish Urzikstan for MWZ received map updates like the actual Warzone map. I just don’t understand why it hasn’t gotten any map changes when it should be sharing the same locations right? And why not bring back Al Mazrah man.. so much missed opportunity but it’s still a fun mode
The "Warzonification" of everything in CoD will be its downfall. I hope BO6 can help me cope with the fact that I wasted time playing MWZ to begin with, lol.
What I'm afraid of is that because this takes place after BO6, we already know where many of the characters end up by the time the story ends. Unless they do some time travel and changing the future
when I first played season 1 of MWZ I rated MWZ as my 3rd favorite Zombies game, right behind BO3 and Cold War in that order (unless we include customs then BO3 goes above Cold War) but that rating assumed the seasons to come would be equal to season 1, and man the fact that didn't happen ruined MWZ for me, I still like it, I still think every zombies fan should play up to season 1s content, but after that? honestly? forget it, the ending is good but I nearly didn't even do the ending fight because of just how much I missed between season 1 and 5, like I did get the cool STG blueprint, but only because a different team went for it, I just had so much catching up to do that it wasn't even worth it
I will say MWZ did try some ideas and although a lot of them fell flat. However they did my boy the VR-11 Justice and Made it Great Again! Shame we’ve YET to get the Scavenger again 🤨.
