Lich not Lynch. You know I could say it normally, but my brain just makes the switch every single time. So I just rolled with it. SOOWWWWWYYY The PB = Peppermint Butler thing that I completely fucked up on though. Don't know how I missed that.
Fun fact: Finn's clapping for Jake was a call back to the first James Baxter episode when they're fighting the milk ghost. Jake tells him to make that noise to find him if they die and it's just done as like something to brush off
Bubblegum isn't dead, she's immortal. She gave up being princess bubblegum to just be Bubblegum with Marceline and Peppermint Butler had a "shrine" to her because he still loves/respects Bubblegum he's one of the few people in the entire story that NEVER betrayed her or doubted her
Bubblegum definetly can live for a long time, but It is pretty much confirmed that elementals like her, die like regular people and then they reincarnate in new forms. Srry but She is not Immortal.
@@Giuseppegranata7067 I mean immortal in the sense that she never ages. She's been a teenager for like 500 years (not a thousand cause the elemental then was Mother Gum)
I think they accidentally contacted peppermint butler because he and princess bubblegum both have the same initials (PB) and finn and jake said PB to try to contact her
@@compblabuletmich9163I’m pretty sure they said PB to get the audience to think Bubblegum, but Pep Butt has always had a knack for the dark arts and was even close with old Death. So I’m pretty sure them contacting him was on purpose
The thing that I LOVED about Mr Fox becoming death is that we can see each incarnation of death reflects their view on it. First Death saw it as Zen as such sand garden and rake. Second death saw it as pointless and dumb and as such angsty teenager with his dumb friends. Mr Fox sees it as a rest so his outfit is a comfy bath robe and pillow. I think he'll make a great death as he'll just invite people to take a nap. At least until they're ready for reincarnation.
I've actually always loved mister fox and how he represented depression and the obsession with personal comfort that comes with it. Him becoming Death and giving everybody a slightly more comfortable afterlife was a very satisfying arc.
wow i don’t know if i ever made this connection with depression and personal comfort…. at least not so directly the fixed mindset that u need something before you can move forward, it’s pretty scary, because realistically that’s a selfish/ignorant view. its like a goal of life to realize that we never have complete reassurance for our actions, so mr fox invests in his comforts, bc he knows they will be there. but, he’s sometimes ‘too’ caught up on his comforts, which might keep him from other joys in life P.S. in moderation, but this is actually the #1 recommendation of a a few stanford researchers: to start learning to execute(research shows depression= ⬆️negative-self-oriented-thought, ⬇️action/execution/confidence) on the most basic level around you. so when mr fox fluffs his pillow, it’s a simple action that reinforces his ability to have-idea/do-action, which is basically the ‘ladder’ out of depressive thoughts/habits. accepting that small feedback cycle for what it is, and building resilience from there
Man Mr. Fox was always one of my favorite characters, I loved how his voice actor legit seemed like he made up what he said as he went. Bro just went with it and it made the lines sound so casual, I always liked when the character was on screen
Après tout ce que j'ai fais pour ce garçon, après tout ce que j'ai fais pour lui. Non mais c'est pas possible, ce n'est pas possible. Non ça me.. ça m'infurie complètement! Mais c'est pas possible. Which roughly translates along the lines of “It’s not possible! After all I’ve done for him!! This makes me so MAD I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!” Although I grabbed this from Wikipedia, I have to admit, it’s very likely she swore in a way that I didn’t catch. The transcript hasn’t been released yet, so no telling. I wouldn’t put it past her, seeing as how it’s French, and pretty much crafting a whooping stick.
Older Finn is always seen shirtless, and when he remembers Jake is dead and freaks out, he starts sweating a whole bunch and rips his shirt off. What if Finn stopped wearing shirts after Jake died both because of his Jake tattoo, and because he’s way more stressed out without Jake and will sweat too much with a shirt on?
I'd like to point out that when Finn and Jake call PB, while we expect Princess Bubblegum, PB could also just outright mean "Peppermint Butler". Doesn't change any of your breakdown, but their reaction made me think they knew who they were calling.
Agreed. Bubblegum wouldn't have any magical stuff around her. Despite the fact that she's involved with a vampire-demon queen, magic isn't her thing. I thought Finn's death and this afterlife adventure happened after Bonnie gave up controlling the kingdom to enjoy her life with Marceline.
The special in reference shows that family isn't blood, but rather the people around you who truly were able to care for you. While his father escaped with Finn when he was an infant, he is no longer a proper father figure. Now just reduced into the pirate he was before. And because Finn and his father escaped so early in Finn's life, his mother wasn't able to care for him, even though she cared about his well being the entire time. That is why the special interprets Joshua and Margaret (Jake's parents) as Finn's true parents. Because they were able to be there in their adoptive son's life a lot more than his biological parents ever were.
@@AshleyPotatoMashley not really with the mom, remember Joshua and market die when the boys are still young and Finn real mom is found around 18...meaning he spends most of his life with his real mom
Well being alive is probably not something that exists in the new mode of existence, given that that's already a big part of the present mode of existence shown throughout the series.
@@AshleyPotatoMashley Didnt Finn's biological mom reunite with him in the original finale? So theres a possibility they spent time with each other after. Meaning Finn sees her as a true parent, but also sees Margaret as a true parent too.
1st deaths zen scythe represented the peacefulness in death, 2nd deaths battle scythe represents the pain and suffering in death, 3rd death, mr foxes’ pillow represents death as an eternal rest/slumber.
It's sorta like the historical interpretations of death. Ancient societies saw death as peace, then you had in medieval and modern times the fear of death, the terror of hell and whatnot, the worry that death is painful. Nowadays, thanks to Capitalism outliving itself, life is infinitely exhausting, and death is seen on the whole as a rest from stress.
This show is just a masterpiece. The peotic dream sequences, the artstyle, the story, the sadness, the characters, the voice acting. I am astounded when people call this a kid’s show
I doubt PB is dead, mostly just relinquished her authority. Obsidian already showed she wasn't really living in the castle no more, so I can see she gave full rulership to Pep, also his initials are also PB so its probable Finn was indeed trying to contact him all along.
Honestly, I thought the same thing. When I saw this episode first I was like PB can't be dead, because they did not call on Bonnibel Bubblegum. They weren't able to actually contact Princess Bubblegum, because the current "princess" is Peppermint Butler.
Yeah bubblegum is smart, but her knowledge is lacking when it comes to the supernatural. It makes more sense for Finn and Jake to call peppermint butler for this situation than Bonnie.
Wow! Jeremy Shada was STILL voicing as Finn in the sequels?! Wow congrats to him on being one of the few people to keep their voice acting roles until the very end! 2010-2021! 🏆
I think the whole point of the re-encratnation cycle of this show is to better yourself. What i took from the ending is that jake lived his best life, and his best death, and can be content with staying in the 50th dead world. But finns soul wasnt their yet. It still had greif and sorrow, so he was in the 37th. Every time you are reborn it is another chance of your soul to better itself and improve. And each time you die that improvment is tested, and people will keep being reborn forever until they reach the 50th deadworld. In which case, much like jake was, they are complete, they have reached their purpose in the unirves and can finally rest happily in the afterlife. So in that final scene when jake returns to the 50th and finn get re-encranated they arnt saying goodbye. Its finns realisation that he as a person is not yet complete, and.. even if its without jake he must go forward and better himeself in order to have a chance to reach the state of peace that jake found (However then jake decides to live anither kife anyway, noramlly sonone in the 50th wouldnt want to. Im saying everyine has a choice to be reborn in this world, but eventually some souls reach the 50th and they choose not to be) ((Also also, finns parents amd tiffany, they havnt reached the 50th, but as they themselves said they were contenet in the deadworld they ended up in, they didnt want or need to reach the 50th. However eventaully. Even years down the line, they may choose to get re-encarnated. The moral would be tgat death is something we must learn to accept. And for some people it takes longer then others, but beacuse it is envivitable we will eventaully all have to make peace with it which is, in my opinon, a pretty decent message.
I took it as you'd be assigned the dead world and offered reincarnation after and you're stuck in the dead world if you don't, i mean, there's some dead worlds that are pretty bad if they reincarnate at any point i think those places would be pretty empty
Also Jake probably never gave up the 50th dead world, Jake next life might be so great as his old one He already fulfilled everything in his existence, but he can't enter in peace without fin That's why they always come back together, one can't exist without other That also explain why Jake got disturbed by fin, even thought he was in "perfect and eternal peace"
I think that's almost it! I think it's less goal-oriented, and maybe more like... Well, you just get bored in heaven and so choose life again. The way out of the cycle is to be content wherever you are, to the extent that you stop caring either way. That is, we're talking about more natural consequences
The ending does throw off Finn's lesson but Knowing that you should be able to live your life without someone does not mean you have to. Jake also learns that while he is able to detach and go beyond life, that doesn't mean he has to. He just can when the time comes. Finn and Jake can cross into the 50th together when they are both ready.
It just sucks tho at the end it felt like fin ligit did not care about anyone else like when jake asks about meaning without him there fun dose not even give a half hearted smile or anything
@@Lone_bear_Bear Well everyone in adventure time has their own lives and Finn doesn't want to intrude on them so Finn felt kinda empty when everytime he's on a adventure he wish he could experience with Jake
So when they first introduced Zen Jake, it was breaking my heart. I was imagining dying, going through hell to see my friend, only for them to completely dismiss me. I would have given up right there.
I was honestly ok with the Lich in this special. He was treated with way more respect than he usually is and the twist that he was pulling the strings actually made a lot of sense. New Death having the restraint to not kill Finn in the throne room because he knew Finn would be able to get him into the 50th deadworld was a stretch, but the Lich being able to figure that out is totally in character for him.
I think it was a stroke of genius. Finn and Jake's biggest villain ever, who they have slain so many times, was bound to be in the afterlife, it only makes sense
16:54 one of the things that people often point out about enlightenment, is that when you achieve it, you usually lose touch with the ground level. You stop seeing things with empathy, instead looking at “the big picture” . Having that “zen” vibe can really help when you’re in a bad situation, but it’s not fun for others when they’re hurting and you’re apathetic about it, and do nothing to help them. Edit: OP talks about it, and I feel I should point out, og Death could probably travel to the 50th, he has a zen garden and everything
The ending card that read "Finn and Jake are together again" actually made me sob like a baby. Like I needed a good while to cry my eyes out, my mom was so worried
To anyone wandering what Will meant for very stupid start, he’s referring to the very first episode of the series which was about Finn and Bubblegum trying to prevent everyone in the candy kingdom to not die from a heart attack by just witnessing zombies. The method they do so is by doing a slumber party
I like to think Jake's return to life was him realizing his own selfishness, and the stress he put upon his beloved brother. True Finn grew up, even noting he had a major epiphany, but Jake also realized that his time in pure zen had isolated him from the suffering others around him were going through, Jake for all his problems was somebody who stood against injustice. And what greater injustice is there to stand aside and do nothing when someone is suffering? Jake may have been ready for the 50th, but he realized that he still had much more to do.
Well… I lowkey don’t think it’s selfish because at the end of the day your life is yours. You don’t live for other people and it’s not your job to help people stop suffering when in reality it’s not your problem. Whether you choose to go back to your friends or go forward to inner peace that’s okay cuz it’s your choice and you made yourself happy. I don’t think morals should be added here. Selfishness is kind of an objective trait.
I really disliked Zen Jake, because he felt like he was putting his higher consciousness over the well being of his peers and that is not something Jake would ever do. I honestly felt like it was almost a form of brainwashing. What is the point of ultimate enlightenment if everyone else around you is suffering? It is REALLY selfish and completely out of character.
I cried so much watching this episode. Then for hours after I felt like I had just woken up from one of those dreams where someone you love dies, and then the dream just continues and you just have to live without them for what feels like months.
I can't remember crying over any show or movie, but when Finn had his breakdown and hugged Jake saying his name over and over (The voice acting was amazing!), and when they went to reincarnate, those two moments brought me into tears.
I kind of enjoy how pathetic The Lich is, and always has been. He's gets beaten quickly and in the dumbest ways. Defeated by a sweater, turned into a baby, stabbed by said baby, defeated by MR. FOX of all characters. Two of these defeats were completely accidental too. He's a complete joke and I love it!
The thing about the lich I think is that the reason it looks like he’s a joke. Is because the only way to beat him is either tricking him( like that wish thing) or doing like love because he’s pure evil.
I think maybe it could be a way of looking at Evil. It's incredibly powerful and yet fragile at the same time. The most obvious answer, "love" is often overlooked because of how cliched, cheesy and sentimental it is. For me, personally it makes perfect sense. With that being said, I was really frustrated that the whole plot line with the princess and Finn fell completely off. What was the whole point of the "like-like" sweater? Just to make it even worse when he's ultimately rejected? It was a lazy way to defeat the Lich. Then again I don't feel like Adventure Time got the treatment it deserved after a couple of seasons. Even the toys and video games are all just kind of half hearted. Super disappointing.
@@Uncle-Jay it only fails if you get fixated on the idea of romantic love and not love in general (which would've been inappropriate either way considering an age gap so huge that Bonnibel actually saw *at least* 2 of Finn's lives); I think it's nice how it goes to show that just bc we expect smth from life doesn't mean we're guaranteed to get it (aside from age, the lemonhope ep shows a lot of flaws with Finn's crush), and that's okay, in the end they've always cared for each other so it's not like the sweater meant nothing at all
After Together Again, I became angry we didn't get to see the rest of their lives. I loved the fact the Lich came back again. Evil never dies, it just rests. I don't know, it's hard to accept the loss of one of my favorite shows.
PB = Peppermint Butler No mistake on Finn and Jakes' part, when they need occult help they know who to call. *And New Death doesn't turn into the ouroboros snake, he becomes the tumbleweeds.
As Life said, some souls come in pairs. Finn and Jake are those souls. Distant Lands was a crazy end (?) to a crazy show. It's been a few years since I've given much thought to the show tbh (AT's perfect finale made it easier), though it's always been in my mind, its messages shaping my mindsets and actions. So this episode in particular dug up some old deep feelings I had for AT. It's dark, it's deep, it's funny, it's odd, it's bittersweet. It's Adventure Time. And thank god, thank god it existed. Thanks, Sarcastic Chorus, for your amazing videos. Thank you, Adventure Time, for everything.
My little fan theory is that the 37th, and presumably many other of the central dead worlds, are made so that they don't exactly inflict suffering, but are also barren enough that it would encourage their denizens to try reincarnation. That way the worst souls and the best souls are taken out of the cycle, and making those that still have more life to experience go through the cycle again. It's also worth mentioning that the 37th may be for the souls that didn't live fulfilled lives. Jake died way before he was meant to, which is why he was there when Lincoln revived him, and Finn lived a long life that was overshadowed by grief for his brother.
the fact that we didn't see Fern at all must mean that he is indeed still inside the new finn sword that grew out of the seed he left when he died, wich seems kinda... troubling, just being stuck on top of a tree without anyone to talk or anything to do until he's found by shermy and beth, who knows how long after the end of the show
I made a theory that if adventure time continued with shermy and Beth, there might be a chance that finn sword finn and prismo jake would reunite in some way and someone called me an idiot or something for it :/
To be fair, living as a sword is hellish in of itself; especially when you consider that we've seen inside the sword. It's just a room with a chair and two big windows on either side 😬
With the addition of these specials I think I'm honestly quite confident in calling Adventure Time the best cartoon of all time. It's quite a loaded statement, but honestly I can't think of any other show that I can justify having that title as thoroughly as this one.
this is like the smallest thing but I cant stop myself from saying how much I enjoyed you ending this one on a powerful note. no end cards, no channel plugging, no (understandable) sponsor messages. just a strong, not drawn out end. I've missed seeing them so much in my regular content so it's worth giving praise for that alone, as well as the rest of the excellent video
She probably just stepped out of the throne and left Pep But in charge knowing that Pep But is a weirdo, but that he wouldn't destroy the kingdom. Also, I don't think Finn and Jake were calling Bonnibel because, why the fuck would they call the scientist and not the ocultist, don't forget PB also stands for Pep But.
I think when they were trying to contact “PB” they were saying they were contacting Peppermint Butler and it was a purposeful misdirect. Maybe if he took over the kingdom for Princess Bubblegum he also took the nickname “PB” (since it does technically apply to him)
Best guess is Bonnie just decided to retire from ruling and let Peppermint Butler take control. Bonnie is probably still with Marcie wherever they are.
I don't think Bubblegum is dead. I think this was some joke and that she has possibly resided and is probably living with Marceline as immortal lesbians.
Yeah, PB also stands for Peppermint Butler. It was simply a misdirect for the audience. It's been established countless times the PB is immortal, it confuses me how so many people think she's dead after this special. She definitely simply retired to live with Marcy
@@bobsmitj9306 It being a misdirect would require there to be a point later on where it’s revealed that the audience had been duped. Not them just implying her death and then leaving it at that. EDIT: Not that I necessarily think she’s dead, but that this doesn’t make sense of being a misdirect for her death.
@@revival9313 No, I mean the misdirect was that the audience assumed PB meant Princess Bubblegum, but then the joke is that PB actually meant Peppermint Butler. Her being dead is a complete non issue. Plus even in this case she would not have died of old age, it's shown in dream form that PB would not age at all the entirety of Marceline's natural life span. And the likelihood of PB getting killed is like so insanely low. I mean, not only is she insanely careful on her own but she has countless people willing to die protecting her(this second part is just more in general details about why I think she's not dead, not in direct response to you).
Dude, I have to admit at a point I kind of went on and off of Adventure time after “come along with me” but I had no idea about this aftermath. I know personally that it would have probably had more impact if I watched it myself, but still just *knowing* this still made me emotional for the two brothers. When Jake basically said “screw enlightenment, I’m with my bro till existence itself collapses!” and shared one final fist bump, my eyes started fogging up… absolutely, without question, no doubt in my mind, and scientific fact that they’re true bros for life.
A bit of a note on the "Lich Hand" thing. In Dungeons and Dragons, there is an item called the "Hand of Vecna" which is the hand of the long dead Arch-lich Vecna. While the hand itself was never as bad as Vecna in his entirety, it still has dark magics and sews discord wherever it appears. The Lich Hand is a reference to that. I don't think it needs to be as difficult to defeat as the whole Lich, it just needs to be something that always creeps back in eventually.
Much like death the lich is inevitable finn stopped him a dozen times but he always comes back finn wasn't even the first billy stopped the lich aswell i'm sure someone before him did the same but the lich will never stop eventually the hero will *fall*
About the reincarnation process. What I think it is: When a character gets reincarnated, they lose all aspects of their previous personality like memories. So you're given the choice, regardless of which Deadworld you're in, to give up your identity and start again, or to remain who you are for eternity. Which, needless to say, is a pretty tough choice.
It was a major mistake putting Wizard City after this. Together Again is beautiful and would make a great finale to the franchise, too bad it's just the 3rd episode....Shame on you, CN. s h a m e.
I agree, but apparently, it wasn't because HBO max thought that together again should be second to last, but that HBO max commissioned the 4th episode after the first three were planned. In other words, together again was always planned to be the true ending of distant lands.
I sort of like it because it feels like it is an ending for Finn and Jake, but that doesn’t mean it has to be the end for the land of Ooo. I think more episodes could happen after this and I like that there may not be seasons, but just one off episodes made with thought and care.
I don't know if this is canon or not, but there's a comic of AT called Adventure Time: Season 11, where Finn and Jake are taken to the far future immediately after the events of Come Along With Me. In it we see BMO, PB and Marceliene still alive and well about a thousand or so years later, so by that I'd say she probably just left the Candy Kingdom to Peppermint Butler at some point.
One detail on the appearance Finn decided to go with before heading off to find Jake is he mentions that it's recognizable, which may seem like a fan service joke, but it actually implies that Jake died while Finn was somewhere in his 20s, still young enough to appear this young, which makes sense since yeah, Jake did gain extra life force from conning his alien parent back, but even with this, he still would've died while Finn was still in his 20s.
@@trevthetree9838 yeah, if death were to turn into something or probably his skull should've been what remains of him just like the previous deaths before him
Princess Bubblegum is conformed to be functionally imortal in the stakes mini series meaning if pb where dead something or someone would had have to have killed her. Which i dont find very likely due to how tough she is physically (able to regrow limbs in seconds) and that shes dating marceline. In come along with me in the opening we see 2 pink hands holding onto prison bars in ice things "kingdom" which might be pb but could be aunt loli. Pb could still be dead but theres more evidence against than for it Edit: i realize this now but if bubble gum was dead than we would have seen her in the after life. Also the fact that theres new slime and fire elementals but not a new ice and candy also makes sense.
I always thought that the fact that there’s a functional PB robot around after “The Suitor” was going to come up again. Maybe the figure behind the bars is the PB bot?
I like how in the shows finale its BMO telling the story to the 2 friends who appear similar to finn and Jake and are most likely their reincarnations because it has them learn and admire their past lives even without knowing it was then
Finn's old, he probably doesn't have any of his close family and friends left. Most of the people we knew from adventure time are already there. He was probably one of the last to go and that's probably why he doesn't care.
15:40 jake DID wait for finn. Look at season 3 episode 21 Marcilines closet. After they read the note jake says “he’s eliminating desire from his heart, it helps pass the time” Just one huge thing I noticed after re watching it.
The stick is the rod of Asclepius, the staff used to represent medicine and healing, commonly confused with the caduceus. Just an interesting detail that I thought was cool since they could’ve made the weapon life gave them anything.
I loved your interpretation of a lot of things, but I feel like you missed a lot of the life/death symbolism/meaning between Life, her son (new death) and old death. Mostly with the concept of when New Death bit his Father, and he turned into a tree. I don't think it was because that had something to do with his personality, so much as New Death was the son of life, so he had life's powers. More or less giving "life" to Death, causing him to turn into a tree. There was also the fact that when the snake staff attacked New Death, he turned into tumble weeds, and then the staff snake turned into and ouroboros, I feel to symbolize the irony of Life/Death's cycle. Life gave birth to New Death, and then Life in the end ultimately killed Death. Also I think PB is immortal, so she's probably hanging out with Marcy someplace and just said "screw being a leader" lol. Also PB (Princess Bubblegum) and Pepp But (Also P.B.)share the same initials. So it could have been a twist of irony that Finn/Jake contacted him instead of her "by accident" even if he was reasonably the right person to contact. Since Princess Bubs might not even know how to help them in that situation. Cant really prove either, so it could be either! Fun to think about it both ways tho :D I think the thing I respect the most about Adventure Time was they're really good at giving you just enough information to be satisfied, and just enough information to make it fun thinking of all the stuff that happened. While leaving it open enough to have multiple realistic possibilities.
Ohhh... Your take on PB makes more sense. Another thing I thought of thanks to you is that if PB renounced her title as "Princess", she would probably no longer go by "Princess Bubblegum", and more comfortably as simply "Bonnibel" which is very wholesome if I do say so myself.
@@aQuayQuay this could have also been at a time where Peppermint overthrew P.B. or P.B. disappeared for a few years. Afterall, we see the candy kingdom in the future being controlled from a veeeery distant planet, using the kind of technology that looks like the natural evolution of P.B.'s inventions.
The visual of Jake trying to crawl into his own grave with Finn trying to stop him hit me so so hard.. I just lost my grandmother earlier this year, and it really did feel like at the end she was just kind of crawling towards her end; and we all knew she'd be happy to be at peace and reunited with her husband, but I don't think any of us were really ready to let her go.. we all still had our own versions of wanting to eat that ice cream with her.. I'll probably grieve for years tbh, but that imagery does in a strange way help me process at least a small part of it; even tho it genuinely made me sob... I've never empathized so deeply with a fictional character in my life in such a short scene..
hopefully this finale made you see that when your time comes ( sounds morbid so sorry ) you’ll be as happy to reunite w her as she was w her husband , or as happy as finn was to b back w jake ; & as someone who’s lost a grandmother they were close to back in 2020 , i can promise you it can & does get better if you want it to. but best of luck to you from an internet stranger
How in the hell did you manage to copy and paste almost the exact same situation as my own grandmother who died in 2019. Her death was unexpected and ruled natural causes. She wasn't sick at the time or anything. Not really. But she had lost her husband years prior and all my life, all she could ever talk about was how much she missed him and loved him. When I was growing up, every time she and I would drive past the cemetery where he's buried she would say Hi and tell him she loved him. But a month before she passed away, her twin sister passed away. She was devastated cause her sister really meant more to her than anyone. She was her other half. So I've come to believe that losing her sister sealed her fate. She had lost her husband and now she had lost her sister. Other than my mom and I she had no one left to really live for. I'm sure she hated to leave us because she knew we would be miserable without her (especially me). But she also left us a great sum of money to help us. She knew that we would eventually be okay and that she was going to take care of us from beyond the grave. It's because of that money that my mom was finally able to buy us a house after spending all my life going from apartment to apartment. All she had ever wanted was to be with her husband again and at that time of course she wanted very badly to be with her sister again. And who would I be to try and keep her from that or be mad at her for that. It took me time to start thinking like that but I've finally reached that point.
if you think about it the ending really came full circle, Finns needed to reach his goal by not wanting it, and in the end doing that is what allowed him to succeed, he GUNNUINLY realized that him not being able to go on with jake was selfish and thus didnt want it anymore, and only then did he finally get what he wanted (paradoxically). Its actually ingenious as well as very heart felt and emotional especially since on the surface its just a typical "character getting over something only to get it back anyways" type thing.
This makes sense! I didn't like that Jake went back with Finn as I thought it ruined the whole "learn to let go" lesson. After watching it again and analyzing a bit I still wasn't happy with it, even with the whole "some souls come together" part, but now reading your comment it all makes sense. As soon as Finn decided to go back to life, he had learned his lesson and wasn't actively trying to get back to Jake, so then even though Jake had already reached the maximum level of enlightenment he decided to go back with Finn, even if they weren't the same people anymore "because it's great being alive with you", even if it's a different you. Thanks for this. I'm happy now. Haha.
this episode made me cry like a baby. I lost my grandfather 4 years ago and when finn said something like when you died i lost my purpose it hit hard. not that hanging out with my grandfather was keeping me going in life but he died out of nowhere wasnt sick nothing so the shock was a tough hit and i sunk into a bad depression after it. we also had to sell my childhood house where i lived still so it was a bad time all around so this episode was just hitting that raw chord and was beautiful
Finn saying that he was waiting for the day where he gets to see Jake again. That made me tear up just now. I felt Rico from the movie Hot Rod when Rod was saying that he's breaking up the team and Rico didn't want to cry
I always loved this series no matter what and I grew up watching it with my grandpa, he didn't speak much English but damn did he love the series and loved watching it with me he unfortunately pasted away couple of weeks before the last episode, now years later as I became more understanding and matured a bit I saw that this episode and it brought back many memories of watching this series with him. I'm happy I got to see this and I hope 1 day I'll see my grandpa again in another life
adventure time is the best show and is so far the only piece of media that has made me cry tears of joy, sadness, fear, and anguish. nothing else has managed to make me cry.
Good lord this episode is awesome, never said the characters had to be perfect, because if you were, you would’ve never made a bigger splash without struggles, flaws make a character what they are, and these 2 are honestly the pure definition of a companionship, friendship, and brotherhood that last eternity, because me as a lot of people, cried to episode, as it is one heck of a true finale. I would be fine if they ended it here and didn’t make another one, because this right here, is amazing
Peppermint Butler was best friends with the original Death. He is also shown golfing with Marceline's dad in a painting. Plus he has dark magic and is able to access dimensions at will it seems. He is also capable of summoning demons. It's kind of a regular thing for him.
I couldn't keep myself from crying knowing the bros can't live without each other. It feels so complete with how they was just with one another throughout the series.
Adventure time has to be one of my favorite shows, and when I was watching the fin and Jake episode my mind was blown. My mind can't handle the thought that fin was struggling the rest of his life without Jake, and Jake meanwhile had no idea. I fell apart when Jake started dragging himself to his grave, it's like the show was showing us our darkest fears as fans. I had mixed feelings at the end because of this, I felt the show had its magic in the mystery.
Distant Lands made me think a lot about my late dog. He passed away from a kidney disease and I never truly got over it. All these feelings Finn have gone through hit so close home to me.
Damn it I watched all four episodes in a row and my eyes welled up like three times. The stories, the flashbacks, the characters and their dynamics and everything it’s all so freaking beautiful. Been a while since I felt this way about anything I’ve read or watched
So we don’t see Finns mom in the special (his real mom) so I think we can sorta conclude that it’s actually her in the computer and not her personality uploaded into it if that makes any sense.
This show was a big part of my childhood watching every episode I could and seeing it come together and form the best story arc of a show I’ve watched is so satisfying and sad this ending wraps the series up perfectly.
at 20:00 the thing is they immediatly singled out Peppermint Buttler, as they likely would also know that PB wouldn't know how to contact or interact with the dead worlds due to her scientific nature. PB would easily out live Finn as we already know, so the later is much more likely, PB gave up her royal life style to live that good life with Marc we saw in obsidian, heck from what we saw of Obsidian, it didn't look like PB was living at the castle anymore anyways.
In the first two minutes of this video, You have said enough to make me want to watch all of this Adventure Time content. I congratulate you, and will do so before enjoying this content
Something about this special is simply inherently tragic and sad to watch. But honestly, in a heartwarming way. We seen these heroes fight countless bad guys, see them go on adventures of a life time. Together, they fought evil and conquered the world. But now they are dead. But before they were dead, Finn would spend the rest of his life, hopefully for the sweet release of death. Finn NEEDED to see Jake. He needed to see him again. The only brother that he knew. It’s hard not to put yourself in Finn’s shoes here and imagine how anxious one must feel about reuniting with a fallen brother in the afterlife. How i must feel to see my brother again after spending a lifetime without him. That hug at the end, man does it feel heavy. This episode got me. It made me feel a type of way i normally don’t feel. And screw it, for me, this is the last episode of Adventure Time. What a ride.
I thought the Lich's inclusion here was appropriate. He is reduced to a talking hand, but this only shows that even though he is weak and seemingly harmless, he can be dangerous if he manipulates the right person. He is like a danger lurking in the shadows waiting to strike. Also concider that his arm was split into countless copies troughout the multiverse, so the lich can never truely be defeated now.
He wasn't trying to contacts princes bubblegum (PB) she would have been of no use to finn and Jake she has no knowledge of the accult or death they intentinal contacted PB Peppermint Butler because he's one of the few people with knowledge of the Mystic, life and death, heaven and hell, and all things wierd
This show made me feel things, it helped me be a person in more ways I can describe and the fact that some characters grew and grew up at times where I did really hit home hard
