Bakkies (pick ups) are a fundamental part of South Africa life and culture for practical and even symbolic reasons , so not a surprise they get more advertising than car there. Many of such advertising are imported, so they lack a certain salty south african humor.
@@azairvine He means the ads that say Bugger many times (that this video cuts out) that showed in NZ and were considered legendary, that gained many complaints that weren't upheld. He made no claim as to their origin, only that in NZ they were legendary. But hey. Like the Mitre 10 ad - "Aussies.. No surprises there."
@@iceymonster4675 I honestly don't even know what I was trying to say, but it was undoubtedly an attempt at some kind of obscure wit that no one (including me apparently) would understand 🙄
@@azairvine All good my bro, no offense intended on my part - check out the Mitre 10 ad if you haven't seen btw, it was a light-hearted jab. Not sure if that one got banned or not either, it's been like 20 years since it was on TV
The HSBC one was SORT of banned, but only because of the "World's Local Bank" tag, ALL of those were pulled; as they werent - and still arent, a local bank. I dont know how many complaints were made, but the tag line had been used for YEARS at that point.
Looks up one ad “It didn't hurt that there were over 100 complaints lodged in New Zealand due to its use of 'obscene language' which led to the ad being banned between 4:00-7:30pm, though Toyota elected to run it after 8:30pm from April 1999. Funnily enough, the ban only held up over the ditch; Aussies were unbothered by 'bugger'”
Robo-Chick does exactly what every classic car owner wants to when some doofus gets too close and scrapes keys, rings, jean studs, along panelwork. Definitely a goal kick.
That first Dorito one - that doctor I swear is an Australian woman from and Australian skit comedy show back in the 90's, Comedy Company or Fast Forwards... I swear it's her and she's put on an American accent for the ad...
I carried my daughter doing that out of a Dave and Busters once. I got a lot of dirty looks and I'm surprised nobody called the cops because it legit looked like I was kidnapping a kid. That was maybe 6 or 7 years ago and she hasn't done it since. I later had to go back to pick up my wife and sons since they got left there.
Multigenerational toyota hilux ads nice. True story: bought a 7th hand 34 year old hilux with 600k kms and on my way home did 200km with no brakes. Didn't die and still carries 3 tonnes of payload.
Basically, this is mostly just an extended ad for Hilux, pretending to be banned videos. The Doritos opener was funny, though, and the closing ad would certainly put people off having children.
I remember a couple of these videos, but the last one that kid would’ve been grounded for so long and I would’ve told him you want some to cry about I’ll give you something to cry about. I know it’s incorrect these days but my dad used it on me and my grandpa used it on my dad and his brother, made you stop crying right away
5:23 made me feel uncomfortable 💀💀💀💀 1:50 extremely cursed talking doggy ,💀💀💀 1:09 gender stereotypes .. 1:17 also gender stereotypes 2:02 father doggy talking to his talking son.. 5:32 pervert alert.. 5:45 chicken of the sea 💀💀💀 6:48 fever dream 💀💀 9:56 raping a fish..
Nah I’m good. Found something else that was funny instead. But if you are talking about the beer one that wasn’t banned either. That was on for a long time. It was just clickbait.
Bugger ad was never Banned in Australia...I mean it was our ad...so! But yeah most of the others are Tame and would never had an issue here. Some countries censors pretty soft TBH!
For the condom ad, just introduce yourself to a cashier and agree to secret cod where the cashier will know you want to return certain items you don’t want to purchase. Maybe this could strategic placement those items at the front. :-)
That last one has nothing to do with wearing condoms. You do that if your not looking to have a kid. This kid just needed to be taught better and reprimanded properly when doing wrong and you wouldn't get that.
I found none of these ads offensive and that they should be banned. Some of them had me in stitches back when people had a sense of humor and didn't worry about hurting other people's feelings.
