Maria Alonso, professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, has been recognised as one of the world’s top pharmaceutical scientists. In 2010, the Times Higher Education ranked her among the top 10 in pharmacology, and she was the only woman named.
