Co-founder of Aerial Recovery, Jeremy Locke joins CNN to discuss rescue efforts as Hurricane Milton leaves Florida with flooding and damage in its wake.
Nobody here waited; the moment the storm ended, the farmers/construction workers headed out with chainsaws and earth moving equipment. Everybody checked on everybody. Nobody "waited" for someone else to DO SOMETHING. By the time the lineorkers got to the base of the mountain, the way as cleared for them. It was a "joint" effort. waiting for someone else to respond while you stand there and look at the damage? Nobody can "transport" you to safety. (star trek reference) The (ANY) government has....limited capabilities. Like mating elephants, it is done at a high level... with a lot of noise...and progress is slow. Many people must consult and plan operations. MEANwHILE we start digging out, because it's what we DO. There shouldn't be RESENTMENT involved in this; it's the timing of how things happen, and how we deal with them.
And here's one of the volunteers with the very same group spreading misinformation about the National Guard. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ft6oEMvwcEU.htmlsi=HysOfpIRr5g8wqof

What a wonderful interview and a wonderful man! In talking about the rescues, he doesn't forget the humanity of each person impacted by the hurricane.... I continue to pray for the victims of the storm, but even more so, I continue to pray for the people who put themselves In harm's Way to rescue the victims, both for their success in their rescues and also for their own selves and families.
He's right. The govt can only help so much. They put out evacuation orders, provide buses where they can (the efficacy of their actions also rely on the full cooperation between state, local and federal authorities). As he said, it's also our responsibility as citizens to protect ourselves and help our neighbours wherever possible. Ultimately and ideally, it should be a complete network of cooperation between all everyone- individuals or groups. We're all in this together. Together we stand. Divided we'll fall Stay safe and alive out there.
Some People are not able to leave for many reasons. The govt has a duty to help! It took 8 days after Helene for them to show up. Military and NG personnel begging for orders to go in and help for a week! Our govt didn't do anything when Helene hit. Not until they were being bashed for not being there did they show up.
So glad that he's been allowed to help. There were people who went down with rescue boats when Katrina hit and they weren't permitted to get through. Still so many unanswered questions about that.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a man who was left clinging to an ice chest in the Gulf of Mexico after his boat was stranded overnight in waters roiled by Hurricane Milton.
He acknowledges that Government cannot do everything but individuals and groups have a responsibility to do things to help if they can. We all need to take that message on board. Maybe future evacuations need to do something to help people who have less means.
It's crazy that this country fails to provide a public mass transit option--at least a reserve emergency system--for people in difficult economic circumstances to evacuate in predictable natural disaster weather events like this. It would not be too complicated to implement, it's just a matter of priorities.
Their governor told them they should take a day to figure out their families evacuation plan to keep them safe. That's pretty much it. This is a pull yourself up by your own boot strap type of state. After hearing that they left elderly and disabled people in assisted living homes during the storm I wasn't too surprised to hear that they also didn't evacuate inmates either they just locked them down
Absolutely the best of America right there!! We should be thankful for people like these who are doing such great work, may the Lord bless them and those who do this type of service.
FL dodged a bullet and was very, very lucky. This was not nearly as bad as it could have been. With so many people refusing to evacuate, tens of thousands would have died had the storm been stronger.
@@timothy4557 typical right wingers.....they talk shat and make no sense at all. They throw shat at the wall in hopes that something sticks. Jake slipping open the gate to the low road, and this guy just wasn't going there. Finally, a real human being, just doing the right thing without an agenda beyond helping anyway he can. Bravo.
AS LONG as this guy works with the authorities and doesnt become part of the problem.. And they dont spread trump lies about FEMA... If they are doing that then they are genuine heroes...
I love how people in the US don't think global warming doesn't exist, like smoking doesn't cause cancer or sugar doesn't make you fat, and yet they're one of the nations impacted the most.
@@the-engneerActually no, the statement made is RELEVANT to this hurricane and any other weather predicament that puts EVERYONE IN DANGER. Pay attention people!!! Global warming is REAL.
@@pierrevaillancourt1371 climate is different from weather. If you want to be obnoxious, then try to at least be accurate. Cloud seeding is weather modification-not a conspiracy theory. As to whether the government can guide hurricanes then that is another story. And, oh the climate has been changing since eons of time, long before the industrialization age.
Wirh so many hurricanes, Florida should have permanent strategic places and transportation means to move people that have no financial resources to leave their homes. I don't understand why senior communities are allowed to live in manufactured homes and RVs o close to the sea in a state with hurricane risks.
This guy doesn't have to put anyone down to lift everyone up! He didn't complain about what anyone else was doing and was just focused on doing what he can to help people who need it!
The wise, thoughtful answers Jeremy Locke gave to the numerous leading, ‘blaming others’ questions the CNN person asked impressed me. Jeremy, you are awesome. CNN, stop spreading hate in the name of news
#ThankYouAerialRecovery! Every time a press person asks why people didn't leave- it's because they couldn't. Probably couldn't afford to. Maybe go before & give them the means.
Is he sure he is not Canadian . . . this is what they are like there taking care of their people as there is not enough resources through governing bodies. This sort of organization deserves to be recognized by US governments and financially supported as clearly they have a top tier record over all so many rescue missions. Also they *did* serve sooo there is that too.
12. Tragic; but less than 250. Clearly most people GOT OUT. I was praying that bridge/road would hold out until the last possible moment. Glad to see the storm path as relatively narrow. Thank you, thank you. Let's not do that again for a while.....❤❤ Hoping for a lax hurricane season from here to November. BLESS you for helping wherever you can!
You seriously said "the government should be doing this" you reinforced beliefs spread by trump and magas that aren't true and you know it😢 that's why so many have left main street media. 😮
That storm lost a LOT of power after leaving the Yucatan....from Cat 5 to Cat 3. Thank goodness for the wind shear that swept all the rain bands north....
However the wind shear helped produce a massive tornado outbreak in south central and eastern Florida. 120+ tornado warnings in around 12 hours, many PDS warnings. Nonstop supercells all day.
The mind set of people. Well ride it out, to Help we need to be rescued. These people are doing a diservace to themselves and to the people who risk there live to help them escape.
@@JustM2024 In the Paradise camp fire, my friend piled a bunch of strangers into his car to save them. In an emergency you don't need money, you say hey I need help. And people will help.
@@JustM2024 Yes I totally understand. A lot of elderly just physically can't move or are literally fixed to their beds. Disability, there are lots of things. The hope is that people don't fear each other and instead check on their neighbours. One lady gave her life to save several families during Helena. It's the people who have the means to evacuate, but choose to stay.
It's gotta be wonderful to be able to help. Makes you feel really useful. Great to be able to make a difference. Not everyone can but everyone can do their own little bit. It all adds up.
That’s awesome- It’s not about being democrat or republican, it’s about being human, it’s about being there for others- Maybe politicians can learn something from this!
Aerial Recovery is a veteran-led volunteer organization that is a non profit. Great Non-profits gave them a 5 star rating. They've been very involved in Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in every affected state.
Hurricane Milton brought powerful winds, a dangerous storm surge and flooding to much of Florida after making landfall along the Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm. In the hours before Hurricane Milton hit, forecasters were worried it could send as much as 15 feet (4.5 meters) of water rushing onto the heavily populated shores of Florida’s Tampa Bay.
Ive hauled cars in and out of Florida where their unscrupulous sale as "Forida car" was a selling point to say it easnt abused with winter driving on road salt. Well that market will be turning this winter. Especially with the sudden demand for anything driveable in Fla now since the salt will destroy everything
Once again, Ron DeSantis is doing an amazing job. He should be running FEMA. His experience, expertise, and competency dealing with natural disaster preparation and post-disaster relief and clean-up is unparalleled.
@@begoniaguy He's correct. There have been stronger hurricanes in the past. Hurricane Andrew, in 1992, was almost 200 MPH, per post-hurricane damage analysis. It was also an Atlantic hurricane, where the water temp. is much cooler than in the Gulf of Mexico. A 185 MPH hurricane hit Florida, in 1935. 175 MPH Hurricane Camille hit Mississippi in 1969. There are many factors, other than water temp., that, together with water temp., determine a hurricane's strength. Don't be a simpleton.
