Tyler is the absolute essence of virtuosic frontman rock n roll perfection. This is the reason why Aerosmith is one of the gold-standard premiere rock bands of all time.
I’m 14 going on 15 and I’ve been listening to Aerosmith since I was like 4. I grew up on Aerosmith and they’ve always been one of my ultimate favorites.
2:29 The stand hits the floor... I think that the old bands had to be good in terms of stage preformance due to the fact they didnt have as many cheating options.

@@Franklyhesaid backing vocals are playback. Everything else is live.
this is so funny because Mila Kunis is in the video of this song and, well, Mila Kunis started her career in That 70's Show and her co-star was Laura Prepon the little redhead here
These guys absolutely know how to perform! This band will c always and forever be number 1! As good as they perform the have t h at much fun and ❤️ what they do! ❤❤❤❤ Love me some Aerosmith forever!
The vocals from Tyler and a backup singer are live (and maybe drums), all the other instruments are from the studio track of the song. Is very noticeable in the guitars, specially on the bridge and Brad's solo. Anyway i don't think is the band decision (they play this song regulary on live shows), is more about the amount of electricity that mess with the whole equipment (cameras, lights, mics, amps, earbuds, and so on...)
His vocals are 100% live no doubt about it & yes the band is playing but the instrumentation is complete playback. That's why the strings are heard with no keyboard player emulating them & the singing harmony is still Stevens from the track. It don't meen a thing though cause sometimes for shows like this it's easier to do it this way for time constraints. Again like I said it doesn't meen anything cause they played it live 100% before this & 100% after this. Was just for the show.
This is an absolutely 100% live performance with no backing tracks anywhere, vocally nor musically. Steven's lead vocal is live. So is his backing vocal and harmonies which are sung perfectly by their trusty touring band-mate, Russ Irwin. Russ toured with Aerosmith for several years , providing keyboards, synth and piano. After several years of touring, Steven noticed that Russ's voice sounded like his. They sang together at a rehearsal and sounded great. Russ is an excellent singer and the combo was killer, just like in this video. So, Russ Irwin provides the backing/harmony vocals, keyboards and strings on this live performance. The rest is drums, bass and twin guitars, all of which is clearly "live". Guitarist Brad Whitford actually plays 2 different guitars in this video, an electric for most of the song but, acoustic on the first 2 verses (watch closely, you will see him switch from one guitar to the other). Joe Perry's guitar is totally live, watch the vibrato he throws in during the 1st & 2nd verses....his arm action on the vibrato arm are seamless. I know the bands uses some sampling on a few songs when the play them live but, not on this video. 100% live. ☺

the first time the world heard this song ..... they were making a comeback and being celebrated, and it was obvious that they were as good as ever, if not better .... the audience was in shock
Here's an old timer's sentence: "Donna Pinciotti and Big Pussy introduced Aerosmith shortly after 9/11 to play their last and final comeback hit at the turn of the 21st century"
This is ''singback'', so the lead vocals are done live, but certainly there is some sorta playback going on, what about the strings, tambourine, backing vocals?? I hate it when people try to protect their favorite band by saying that some tv live performance isn't playback. Who cares.. Sometimes in these kinda events bands have to do playback. I've seen ''real live'' versions of this tune and it's just as great!
If you look around 2 minutes and 30 sec in you will see on the left hand side a guy playing a keyboard and singing, he is providing the strings and doing the backing vocals.
