3:30 I'm a 1st AC and have worked with most of the big gun anamorphics, and it's worth noting for those who don't know, even the big league anamorphics breathe a lot, that's just a characteristic of anamorphics as a whole. I just finished ACing a feature film shooting with the Alexa 35 and Cooke 2x SF Anamorphics (which are $30K USD each) and even those breathe a lot, so breathing is not a dealbreaker with anamorphics. Nice review!
Yeah, it's moustache distortion! Barrel + Pincushion. Although I have to stress, these lenses feel more flat than distorted. Really clean. Thanks so much for watching.
Somewhat confused. I understand an anamorphic lens produces a desqueezed image that’s narrow and wide such as 2:76 1 with or without the black bars. But watching your footage it just appears as 16:9 or thereabouts. What an I not understanding? Thanks.
The dimensions of the final image are dependent on the squeeze factor, the size of the sensor used to capture the image and how the image is cropped. For example, if you shoot on 1.33:1 sensor (4:3) with a 1.5x lens you’ll end up with an image that’s close to 16:9 Does that help?
