Wrap your chains around the frame and lock them too. On light weight trailers thieves will use the chains to tow the trailer away to a place they can have more time to cut the hitch lock off.

You should do a video on buying a RV now with this crazy market. We're in the process of buying a 5th wheel at explore USA in Boerne and the prices are all over the place. Can't even get them down 20%

I have a 6' x 12' that I use for hauling freight on my weekly run from work and home. A few of my upgrades are aluminum wheels from Sendel, an electric tongue jack, and lots of E-track rails. It's served me well. Keep that aluminum diamond plate polished!

I run a chain though a wheel, and the leafs or frame to make rigging something up to pull it with a coupler lock still attached a lot harder.
@Fordgroup00
@Fordgroup00 3 года назад
That’s far better than any coupler lock. I had a trailer I lost the key to and used the coupler lock to move the trailer a couple blocks. They’re useless
@original68s
@original68s 3 года назад
Disagree. I had a trailer with 2 chains through each set of wheels on a tandem. Thief had those chains cut and the trailer gone in under 10 minutes. It had a cheap coupler lock, but if I’d had a good one, I’d still have that trailer today because I was only 15 minutes away when I got the security notification. It was also in a chained and gated yard.

We know you always go big or go home, and I too believe that overkill us underrated. But all your other trailers have a 3-5/16 coupler (8:30 mark)? Tim Allen would be proud!!!! (Just kidding)

Could definitely use a video if you decide to flip the springs over the axel. I have a trailer that could use some extra height to match my truck. Or maybe I just get a drop ball and save some time and effort.

I just sold my 7x14 tandem axle enclosed trailer w/dual electric brakes for $5200. Everyone said I sold it too cheap, but I only paid $5400 for it one year ago. I couldn’t bring myself to charge anymore than I did.

I hear they take trailers by bringing an I beam that they connect to your frame and gone in 7 min. Caught on video. The stolen trailer was found with a trailer lock on it. Always better than nothing

The under side framing and "Z" shaped cross members are the same as my new 2023 Impact Quest box trailer 5ft x 8ft with a 6 foot ceiling and vee front and vee roof at the front. I hear some thieves will use the chains and pull the trailer away. Not needing the coupler. at least until they get to a location where they can do otherwise.

I like the trailer lock. Have you ever tried a Bulletproof Hitch? In my opinion the Bulletproof Hitch is a lot tougher than the B&W.

Best type of lock is security chain (extremely difficult to cut) and secure lock. Chain the frame of the trailer to a structure. In your example they would use the trailer chains to move the trailer without hooking up the ball. With this type of lock you also need to secure the chains.

Many crimes are crimes of opportunity, because most thieves are lazy. Any deterrent at all can make the majority of them look elsewhere. What I like about this particular lock you've featured is "Made in USA!" I'm so tired of stuff being made cheaply offshore, and our jobs going away. Sometimes, I will even buy something I don't actually need, if it says "Made in USA," just to support jobs at home!

One advantage to needling the key to lock it. You actually have to have the key so you know you have it. Don’t ask me how I know that lol. Question. When you put on the G Rated Transeagles will you air them to 110psi? I’m buying Transeagle G rated tires for my travel trailer to replace the E rated Westlakes and I can’t find a load/inflation chart anywhere. Any ideas would be appreciated. I realize it would just be your opinion.
@BigTruckBigRV
@BigTruckBigRV 3 года назад
I'll probably fill them to around 80PSI since the weight won't be an issue. I'll search for their load chart

Steven I had to borrow my neighbor’s grinder to cut off my lock on the hitch. I’ve since went with a locking hitch that is keyed to my truck’s ignition. I think JD did a video on them. Those B&Ws aren’t cheap. Even the ones for a 2” receiver.

@@BigTruckBigRV Be sure to check the rating of your valve stems. Some are only rated to 65psi. You may want to upgrade to the all metal valve stems while you are changing out the tires. Stay safe!!

Regarding the TransEagle G-rated 15" tires, I actually just purchased those last week and installed them on my 23' single axle travel trailer. So far so good -- at 43lbs a piece, they're definitely much more substantial than the D-rated Castle Rocks that came off the trailer. I contacted Transamerica, the manufacturer of the tires, and requested the Load Inflation table specifically for the G-rated 225/75R15 version, which they supplied. Here's the link to the load inflation table, in case it's useful to anyone: i.ibb.co/YNBT3vF/transeagle-load-inflation-chart.png And here are a couple pictures of them installed on my rig: i.ibb.co/pdGJLBP/20210731-102154.jpg i.ibb.co/k1Q98vf/20210731-103548.jpg I'm curious what inflation pressure you're planning to run them at.

Hate to burst your bubble but I can "pick" a lock with a soda Can and under a couple min tops. Where there is a will there is a way. So don't bank only on a coupler lock do some other steps since more steps the less likely they will wanna mess with 10 different ways its stopped from theft. Lol
