I recently acquired this watch and it is very nice. I love it, the 24hr dial is an amazing feature as I grew up using 24hr time a lot of watches don't have that on their faces but this one does and I can't get over how much I enjoy that. I got mine with the black face and leather strap, it's real leather! Never thought it would be but again impressed by it's features, the indeglow is brighter than expected, it's super comfortable, the 50m water resistant feature is perfect for the occasional swim while I'm outdoors. It does run on quartz which I love because it stable and extremely accurate so you're not constantly readjusting the time every month, again very impressive, you just don't think a $40(USD) watch is going to stand up against the more expensive competition but the Timex Scout definitely holds its own. I love it and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quality budget watch, there are far worse watches for the same price that aren't half as nice, definitely a good buy, worth every cent.
How do you find it after a year? Are you wearing it daily? Some other reviewers mention the second hand not hitting most of the markers, how`s yours? Good wishes!
@@cem174 still wearing it! Yes I wear it daily, the leather is finally starting to really wear out so I already grabbed another strap for it. Second hand still works fine but adjusting the date for months with less than 31 days has become tricky. If I don't get the knob just right it gives me some trouble sometimes. Other than that it's still going strong!
Does it have any problems if you shower with it, I am going to order for one but I am abit skeptical about the condition if I take a shower with it daily and go swimming once in a while
@@grovinras8950 be careful as there are many different models of the expedition made of a variety of materials. The one I purchased has stainless steel backing and genuine leather and it does phenomenal under water for extended periods. However a cheaper plastic model with a Velcro strap probably won't hold up as well for obvious reasons. I'll leave it to your own judgement to find one with your preferred materials, which will inherently dictate it's durability. Hope this helps.
It's 2024, and I bought mine about a month ago. So far, I'm very pleased with it. I got it primarily to have something that is easy to read the time at a glance. My dressier watches drive me crazy in low light trying to figure it out. My only concern is the lack of protection for the crown, but for a $30 watch, if it breaks, it breaks. And I guess I'm old enough now that I don't even hear it ticking, so that's not a problem for me. Overall, I'm quite happy with it.
Yes! I love my Expedition Scout. Mine hits every second marker too! I did a video showing the crown replacement and I swapped out my black seconds hand for an orange one. Love it! Your review is spot on.
It's great how even at this price you can get a watch that does hit every marker, I heard for example the Tissot PRX doesn't and that's £400.00. thanks for commenting Witt
I got mine since it's pretty much what my aunt wore during her service. It's treated me well and it has some wear and tear from daily use. Works great. Mine is however slightly different in that it uses a nato strap.
Congratulations, Troy, on hitting and surpassing the 250 subscriber milestone! Great review on this Timex -- I wear a Timex to work everyday. The Indiglo function has ceased to work, sadly, and supposedly, nobody can or will, anyway, fix it. The date function also doesn't work any longer. Hey, I still enjoy wearing it. It still keeps pretty accurate time, though....hmmm....A Starking would be also sweet.....
Hey Douglas, it's great to hear your Timex is still going strong. The Starking winner is getting announced today so watch this space. Thanks for the support, it's very much appreciated 👍
A brand I never really hunt out but seem to accumulate, I have 5 in my collection they must be doing something right, maybe some subliminal marketing 😂😂
Damn it Troy... I'm trying not to buy any watches in April and you've just gone and sold me on this one that has been on my wishlist for some time. Its about £40 currently on Amazon, under £30 and I'd have paused the video and bought it right away.
Yeah I got it for under £30 I believe in the prime sale, it's at a great price of £40 though, it's a real all-rounder. If you buy one in April, just don't buy one in May 🤣🤣
Thank you Miguel, I'd certainly recommend picking one of these up if ever you see one on offer. And with the array of straps you have it would look even better.
Found one of these for $11 US on a clearance shelf at a Wal-mart. Had to add it to the collection at that price. Olive strap, black case, slate gray watch face.
This fellow Troy is also starting a watch collection and been wanting a field one. Been debating on seiko and hamilton but Timex is also a choice for budget friendly side
I've got mine on a green paratrooper strap with a white stripe, I'm really loving the look of it. The only thing I'm a little disappointed with visually is that the dial has no depth to it. I'd have paid another $20-30 for applied or painted numerals, at least the major ones.
They have a model with a cream dial, stainless coated case, and brown leather strap. Im buying it today! :) I really want a watch with that vintage military look that won't break the bank. I think it will make a great casual daily watch, and I if I wear other things made of brown leather, such as a belt, it will look really good.
You can certainly dress this on eup or down, and yep I match mine to accessories like belts and shoes. For the price its a very good choice to add to the collection.
Got this watch in August 2022 by sept the crown was gone. Got a extended warranty! Timex says they will fix but I have to pay for shipping to them and back to me. Pretty stupid to me! I bought Hamilton kaki auto yesterday and absolutely love it.
Love this little watch, just purchased myself one. I have the one with orange seconds hand, green dial and the hour marker at 12 is orange. Only strange thing I find, is that it doesn't seem to have any lume on the hands at all, and I mean zero. I guess Timex made some of these without lume on the hands?.
This is my everyday watch and I beat the snot out of it in construction. The Indiglo stopped working but oh well. I have a half dozen other Expeditions of various designs and colors that I use as dress watches. There’s no better everyday watch for the money in my opinion
2:51 I just noticed the lil hole there on the upper right lug... i have the same one I thought I accidentally made that one when changing straps and slipping off with the springbar tool 😂 Brass is quite soft after all so if would make sense. Kinda feel at ease now knowing that it's Not only my watch that has that hole Is there perhaps a functional reason for it or is it just there? 😂
What other field watch is out there that is much better than this model at any price that also has indiglo/backlight? I would be willing to pay two or three times more if it was solid steel case with 100 meter water resistance and BACKLIGHT. Solar charging would be a bonus.
Hey thanks for watching, you could read my mini review over on the Watchshop website of an alternative, I think it fits the bill, the Timex Expedition North Field www.watchshop.com/watches/timex-watch-tw2v03600.pdp?source=froogle&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4aacBhCUARIsAI55maH7pWtbgc8sRPcBrbiVcagIaiwz6Riul4ONLoTWK3QNSdg6wqE7WxYaAtNCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
@@thebaldwatchcollector Thanks mate, I checked out that link. It's a nice piece, but as I said above, it's missing the most important feature INDIGLO/Backlight. There are many nice field style watches on the market, Hamilton Khaki is one, but where is the EL backlight at any price...
Hey Joe, I think they have a great offering with this line, and with the choices of colour you could get away with owning more than one lol, thanks for the support 👍

I've been through two Timex Expeditions. I accidently dropped my first one from waist height which exploded when it hit the ground. The glass survived but the crown and everything else fell apart. I bought a second Timex Expedition which has lasted 5 months before the indiglo backlight stopped working. Junk..
I haven't worn any other watches from my watch collection - including Rolexes for three months. I love it but It DOES make me wear my greens and camo gear at every opportunity though! The anarchists watch perhaps?
3:43 what is going on with the date change mechanism there? Does it really start to change that early, or had you incompletely set the date via crown adjustment manually?
The watch is beautiful but after receiving it I got an unpleasing surprise, it's small and looks small in my wrist, too small... And by no means my wrist is large.
@@thebaldwatchcollector i keep it in my hunting room at home but while I'm out in the field on those quiet nights it drove me crazy lol so I made the box
I totally agree re:WR. That is the main reason I went with the CWC G10 - instead of the Hamilton Khaki Field. Also, I second the shout out for matching the date window color! Great review! Good looking piece!
Thank you for watching Norman, would have made it so much more versatile if they increased that WR, but other than that (and the loud ticking) this is a little stunner!
