I own two Sterling , that exact one in Firemist Silver and a James Valentine JV60 with tremolo (the "old version", In Lake Blue. I don't know why they've removed the trem on the recent version ? if someone knows I'll be happy to understand). Two fantastic guitars that I will definitely keep. They are at the top of my favorite list with other "middle range" guitars I own. I Love them, the quality, sounding, playability and specs for the price are just amazing. More and more I don't see any justification to put more than a thousand box (even far less than that) in a guitar because of the growing quality of the middle range models from the "cheap" brands. This is true for Epiphone, Squier, Mooer, Yamaha, Schecter etc... Harley Benton's latest 25th anniversary models say it all ... less than 300 box and you have a killer guitar with high end specs ...
Cutlass's have their own distinct trademark sounds. Especially now that it has a roasted maple neck. Yes a very unique neck radius. I love them. Great presentation as always. 😊👍🏻❤️🙏🏻
I think you could make a guitar made out the cheapest materials possible sound good. Not dissing that sweet MusicMan ax, just saying that the man makes the machine.

I'm really surprised how similar it sounds to mine, even after all the mods I've done. Just goes to show how construction materials will dictate the core sound of a guitar, irregardless of the electronics. Don't get me wrong, mine is now leaps and bounds better than it was, with superior controls and versatility. But it sounds basically the same, just refined. I highly recommend these guitars for anyone looking for a mod platform to build a monster from. It was worth every penny, and I have zero regrets about spending a few hundred more modding it.
Love those blues! Both song and guitar 😉 The roasted maple neck is fantastic. Love the asymmetric design in body and headstock and of course how it sounds in your hands. ✌️😁👍🎸
Jon as always your playing is tasteful, elegant and no failed notes!💪 Nice clear sounding modern classic affordable Strat. maybe the same factory as of the Harley Benton Strats. 😉🤫
Hi Jon, What a coincidence. I just treated myself to this in the Daphne Blue 5 minutes ago. 200 cheaper than the Player Strats. I'll see how it compares. Thanks again for your review and super playing.
These are shockingly cool and the finish selection is incredible! Pink Satin, Vintage Cream and Rose gold are stunning! I need to try a some type of Music Man, all the players i admire say they are fantastic! Heard Paul Reed Smith himself talking about how good Music Man guitars are.
Ok, let’s get real - that guitar sounds spectacular. So resonate and woody. And Jonathan’s playing showcases it perfectly. Love the look of the roasted maple neck and, surprisingly, the Music Man headstock looks great on a Strat. Who knew? I’d prefer a SSS configuration, but maybe they make one. I’ll have to check. Thanks for the great demo!
Love the darker roasted maple neck....and the it has lock in tuners. So interesting to me how everybody basically copies either an S, or a T style body and on occasion something different.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Hey Jon...check out the Cutlass PLUS...push/push tone boost . cool eh ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tu4XObhWXeg.html
I really enjoy playing this guitar. It's a lot of fun. I prefer it over the Fender player. The QC and design are both far superior. I do wish one was available in a hot metalic candy apple red with a white pearloid pickguard.
Hi Jonathan, lovely guitar for the price with nice features for the novice through to the professional. Beautiful colour body against the darkened maple neck. Lovely playing & great review. Cheers ✌️🎸💜
Hey Jon. I've watched some of your vids. New subscriber. Particularly the suhr strat and the ebmm HSS. Love your playing on those two vids. I own a White ebmm SSS. Can you do a vid (?) On what your style is, influences are and what the expression of your style on those vids. Love what you do. Thanks Kel.
I just grabbed the Buttermilk version. Got it for $400 new. I’ve always wanted a fender strat but they’re hit and miss unless you spend the big bucks and get an American made one.
Enjoy listening to your playing style and tone. Have you played the Sire S3 yet? Interested to know your thoughts on it and how it compares to this model Cutless CT50. Keep up the great reviews!
Hello, Jon! Great review😊 I have a CT50 but SSS configuration and i'm enjoying the neck. But i'm considering to upgrade some parts. Since I saw you put the Vegatrem on budgetguitars, I wanna hear what do you think if i put Vega trem on this cutlass. Looking for your answer!❤
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Haha Thank you for reply! i just thougt it's great modification plarform and want to get more decent trem experience. The Trem Arm just feels too week to me...
Lovely Playing! I just got one of these and there's a few issues with mine - was just wondering is your trem arm screw-in, as mine is push in and knocks and won't sit in the same position as yours does...
Once again, black dot markers on a dark roasted board......just why? Great playing as usual, and yeah the Indonesians are making some amazing instruments right now.
The frets are medium and quite small, not jumbo. The neck is asymmetrical. Check for rough finishing on the back of the neck and jammed truss rods. The one I received had both issues.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Ok...not sure what was on mine as they were pretty shallow. It's categorised as medium on their specs. Anyway I loved the guitar but had to return it due to the jammed truss rod. Keep up the great playing and keep the videos coming.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud How do they differ? I ask because I am interested in the Schecter exotic but I haven't found one at any store near me. I could only play a sterling cutlass.
Hi Jon, which one do u think is better, Schecter Nick Johnston Traditional or Musicman Cutlass CT50HSS? Yes, there is some price difference between them, but what about tones and playability when compared?
@@JonIsJustTooLoud hey. I just subscribed! Just realize your channel is awesome for Germany availability. Is the PRS Se DGT so much better than this custom 22? Dgt is 1200 Euro while custom 22 is 699 Euro only
How would this guitar stack up, Jon, against the Sire Larry Carlton line, a G&L S-500 or Comanche (Tribute models, of course), or a PRS SE Silver Sky? If you had to pick, which would you?
@@JonIsJustTooLoud, thanks very much! As others have commented, you could make six taut rubber bands sound terrific. So it's super-helpful to know which of these instruments gets your heart-points. :)
