@@saraholschewski5331 i hadn’t looked at it that way! I got the hyaluronic acid cream back in December I think and I still have a good amount of it, while the moisturizing factor of the ordinary lasts me about 4 months or so (?) I feel like they last me the same amount of time tbh I got the moisturizing factor back in March and I’ve still got over half of the tube
Thank you for this! I'm hoping to do videos myself, and years ago when I did some I put the prices up, you definitely reminded me to be sure I do it this time. I'm the same way! I wanna know, glad to see it is something people notice
@SelinaCat we use dollars as well but conversion makes it more expensive for us, so something james says is 20 pounds or $20 American is actually $50 or $60 here
I just want to say that I enthusiastically ADORE the fact I don't have to listen to some irrelevent advertisment before watching your videos; you just jump right in. Thanks for all the skincare knowledge and laughs over the years!
As someone in my mid 50's who has aggressively neglected my skin my entire life? Thank you. I've been following for a few weeks and have several of the products you have recommended, my skin has never looked this freaking good. I'm documenting my journey so I can see the difference 😁
I bought the BYOMA cleanser and I just wanted to let you know that I have absolutely loved it - especially in the morning, since there's a bit of caffeine in it. It's gentle but also actually feels like it cleans my skin. Thanks for the suggestion!!!
I appreciate these videos because I like affordable products. I wouldn't spend more than MAYBE $20 on skincare that isnt prescription. My new fav is Goldbond retinol body and face. Love it, super affordable.
There is a dermatologist on YT that just recommended that! (Dr. Gray) I just put it into my Amazon shopping cart yesterday. 😊I'll try not to get too excited, since the price is so low.
The ordinary retinol was great for me because no irritation with it and when I switched to tretinoin I didn’t have any negative effects because my skin was used to retinol. Probably different for everyone tho.
Very little, the squalene probably had just as much benefit but it was a nice stepping stone to something stronger. I just asked my dr for tret and he said sure.
I LOVE the CosRX patches! I once picked up the star ones while I was at a place that didn't sell this brand. I could 1000% tell a difference in quality. The stars barely stayed on my face half the time!
I started using the elf toner a few months ago and I love it. It’s really given my skin that extra umph of moisturizer! I am will be going to add the pig nose steam starter to my cart immediately after this video!
may I ask how sensitive your skin is? I had a test size of their cleansing balm a while ago and my skin didn't really like it so now I'm hesitant to try other products from their skincare line
@@hernorthwind My skin is moderately sensitive I would say. I have to be pretty thoughtful with what I put on it and very careful trying new things. That said I use the cleansing balm and it works well with my skin and with the toner. Good luck, it’s hard finding the right products with sensitive skin!
James I appreciate your affordable skincare videos so much ❤ I love trying new skincare and keep trying to find the best seremban for me but it can get so expensive so thank you for your affordable recommendations
I am 18 and I hope you know how much of a good adult figure you are to me. Thank you for all your videos and your recommended cosrx snail essence and cream really helped my skin improve a lot. Thank you really ❤
I used to be of the mindset that a toner was really necessary… until I started watching your channel! Ive been using that elf toner for a month and it’s the difference between me having flakey dry skin and plump hydrated skin! I will never not use a toner again!
Just for a bit of positivity, I've never had an issue with beauty bay! Once my order was delivered a day late and they offered me a full refund on the delivery cost and gave me a voucher to spend on my next purchase. They're own brand skin care is pretty good! I really like it!
may I ask how sensitive your skin is? I had a tester of their cleansing balm a while ago and my skin didn't really like it so now I'm hesitant to try other products from their skincare line.

@@hernorthwind which cleansing balm? Also my skin is sensitive I would say. I have eczema on my face and it did not irritate my skin. I would say it leaves the skin feeling “untouched” like James would say, hydrated but not like a layer on your skin.
Also - my preteen will not shut up about bubble!! I hadn’t heard about it till she mentioned it 😂 but now you say it’s good I feel like I should look at it more ❤

@@hernorthwind I never had sensitive skin until I had my twins 18 months ago and then I’ve had several reactions to things I could use perfectly fine before. I do use elf cleansing balm as a first cleanse and my face loves it so if yours is reacting I’d be worried recommending anything. Saying that I reacted to their Supertone toner in a major way! My face was on fire and bright red!! I’ve avoided AHAs since. The pure skin range (which the toner in this video is from) is meant to be for more sensitive skin types which is why I went for it. I got one of the mini ones to start with so I could try it out first and it was great! If you’ve reacted to the cleansing balm I’d avoid the holy hydration range. And definitely avoid the super range! But the pure skin range maybe worth a try? Go for the mini ones first to test it out 😘
I've been hyping up TO's Marine Hyaluronics for ages, so glad someone else enjoys it! I'm reluctant to buy from the brand considering the near doubling of their prices over the course of a couple of years, so I did skip on restocking for the time being, but I might just cave and grab it again lol
I really like it, but I am not sure it's doing much for me lol. I think I've got so much hyaluronic product on my skin that more is just a waste. Definitely prefer the thin, watery texture to gloppier HAs tho, I really love that texture
@@montananerd8244 That's fair, I used it as like, a hydrating toner of sorts for the longest time because most hydrating toners I felt I would like were at least triple the price 💀 I do like the toner I use now, but for that quick boost either between or mixed into products? I would like to have it back, it's super fuss-free after all lol!
@@Tumbleweed_ I haven't, mostly because I can't be bothered to order from too many retailers.. terrible excuse, I know LOL! But I have obviously heard good things about the brand and don't doubt it's a solid product
I just have to say that I just got back from probably a once in a lifetime trip to London. I was there for a couple of days but spent most of the rest of my trip in Cambridge to see my sister-in-law graduate from Cambridge. Anyway, I went to every boots I stumbled upon and told my husband all about products and you and Robert and being so happy I was finally in a Boots! lol It was magical! However, he did not listen to me about wearing an SPF on our punting tour and got sunburn on his bald head lol BUT the sunburn has brought him to me for guidance on how to take care of it and his skin in the future so I have been able to play around with some products and apply them to him and discuss ingredients and use so many things that you've recommended over the years and it's brought us closer in a weird way lol We love you! Also, the e.l.f. Pure Skin Toner has become his favorite now and I purchased that because of you and I'm on my third bottle! I also got a deal on their site and decided to try their Holy Hydration makeup remover balm which is AMAZING! Think Clinique take the day off balm but cheaper, better at removing makeup and really leaving the skin feeling hydrated! It's so good!
That marine hyaluronics is *the* best hydrating serum I've ever used(and I'm 58,so I've tried a few 😊) . Don't be put off by the fact that it's 'water' and not a syrupy serum - it's an ace product.
As an exchange student going to the UK in 2024, your affordable skincare series is reallyyy a must watch! Would love a more recent one but this is already very informative ^_^
Beauty Bay has an amazing exfoliating serum! It's an AHA/PHA serum just called "Correcting serum" and my skin LOVES IT! Even my dermatologist was like "wait a sec what's happened to your skin" bc my blackheads were gone after using that for about a month or so!
I really like this channel and will continue to visit. The problem is, a lot of the products are either not available in Canada or IF I find them, they're 2-3 X the $$$ price ☹(yes, after conversion from GBP to CAD)
Uriage water sleeping pack is a lovely moisturiser (not just for night time!) kind of part gel moisturiser, leaves skin v bouncy. Simple hydrating micellar is amazing - the one with the blue lid. Lanolips lip balms are amazing and £9/7.
The Simple brand micellar waters are great. I never hear anyone talk about them. They are great for removing makeup but was pleasantly surprised how easily it removed eye makeup, especially waterproof eye makeup. I can afford to buy more expensive micellar waters when the Simple brand works so well and very readily available, Target, drugstores, etc. Nice size "bottles" and not very expensive, approx., maybe $8-10 for the large size. I really recommend you check it out. It works really well and ag a in works great removing eye makeup including waterproof. Thought I would share because I never see the Simple micellar water talked about.
I love the pimple patches with microdarts. It's like a night and day difference on my really painful deep hormonal cystic acne (thanks premenopause, ugh) between the microdarts and non-microdarts. I sometimes pick up the Peach Slices brand ones at Ulta for $8.99, but there's a brand called +1HeroLabs that makes a microdart patch that usually runs on sale just short of half that price per patch, and is nearly as good as the Peach Slices. I can often pick up 2 packs of those for around $10. Using microdart patches generally cuts the time in half needed for my cystic acne to resolve. They are very, very effective for me. That said, I think with whitehead acne, it makes much less of a difference, since surface level salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide products work more efficiently on them. In my experience, regular patches are more useful to supplement the use of those actives in that case.
I find the e.l.f. Pure Skin Moisturiser to be excellent, I know it's not a favourite of yours but for my dry skin it absorbs quickly and leaves a plump, matte finish.
I hadn't heard of some of these brands,so thank you for giving me more to check out next time I need to do a restock. The Inkey List formulations can be a bit hit and miss, but both the Omega Water Cream and the Vitamin B, C and E moisturizer are great. The succinic acid spot treatment is good, too - it's not overly drying, but it still feels like it's doing something. I also rate the Fulvic Acid Cleanser (a gentle, but effective foaming cleanser) and the Vitamin C and EGF serum. I've had not-so-great experiences with the Oat Cleansing balm (it separated in the tube, and it was really hard to remove completely) and the SPF30 mineral sunscreen (it left thick white patches of zinc oxide that were so hard to rub and blend in it was actually making my face sore!).
I need to stock back up on the ordinarys peptide buffet and I also love their squaline oil. I just found out with the water based peptide buffet serum you can use before using your led light mask so I’m gonna do that because it’s drying to wash your face and then apply the mask.
i always rave about the Elf Superhydate gel moisturizer and I have oily, acne prone and sensitive skin. full price it's only $12 USD and it's often on sale at Ulta.
may I ask how sensitive your skin is? I had a tester of their cleansing balm a while ago and my skin didn't really like it so now I'm hesitant to try other products from their skincare line.
@@SleepingLionUK I use Nava MD tretinoin, too! The Argireline is for my 11s (between the eyes), forehead wrinkling and eye crinkles. I don't use Matrixyl but you can use Argireline with ANYTHING else, just use it first. ❤️
It's crazy. I bought some makeup from Beauty Bay totally thinking it would take forever to get to me, especially since I'm in the US, but I got my package in a week!
Hi James, thank you for always providing us great suggestions for our skincare. I would like to ask if you can suggest me some affordable products (maybe around 20 euros) for dry skin, including Vitamin C, chemical exfoliator, ninaciamide and retinol please? Thank you so much!
I looooove the The Ordinary squalane retinol, the only thing the i dont like and because i don't buy it anymore it's because they only last 3 months and thats like a stupid amont of time to use the whole bottle and i keep wasting like half of it.
have you found an alternative for retinol starters with sensitive skin? I have been meaning to dabble into it but most of the products I see recommend for sensitive skin are crazy expensive
If you combine marine hylauronics with the original German blue Nivea, it’s meant to be a dupe for crème de La Mer by La Mer . Been trying it a couple of months now and my skin is so much better and hydrated . Not sure I’ll be able to use the Nivea in summer tho as it’s very thick, and I feel it may cause my skin to break out combined with sun cream, foundation and heat . Has anyone else tried this supposed dupe? If so how did you get on?
An investigative journalist who normally tackles big topics, BJ investigates, just looked into this. I feel like she is bizarrely pro-Mer, but she is right about the ingredients not being the same. Algae extract as a #1 ingredient cannot be compared to water.
James has discussed that Nivea is a brand that because is homophobic he won't use it.When I watched the video where he talks about this and yup... I won't be using Nivea either James💜
Beauty Bay customer service is the worst. I have complained about their own product which was really bad, and they told me to never buy from them again 😂 I have respected their request. They aren’t the only retailer in the UK that sells skincare and makeup ffs
Speaking to your zero waste video and how shit all the products are that you tried (I totally agree, I've tried some in the past but were hideous EO nightmares) I came across a Korean plastic free skincare range called Toun 28 which is available on k beauty, I haven't personally tried it but from reading the ingredients it actually seems like actual.. Skincare unlike 99.9% of other plastic free/zero waste stuff out there 😂 just thought I'd mention it! 😊
Thanks for this video James, another great set of recommendations, will be adding to cart now 😀 just a question, have you tried the Inkey Lists new Dewy SPF? If so any thoughts? I really struggle to find SPFs that don't react with my skin 😢 much love to ya
I like pimple patches , cos they stop you touching ,squeezing scabbing , and you dont realy notice them i have been known to wash my fsce add my serums and moisturiser and totaly forget ive got one on .they stop scab picking and leave no scar
Oh I wish I could have liked the Carbon Theory cleanser for times when I can't get The Inkey List Salicylic Acid cleanser. I don't know what else is in it, but it stung my face soooo bad and made my face bright red when I got out the shower and took a good 30 mins to calm down when I put the rest of my skincare on. I agree with you that it didn't dry my skin out, I just don't get why it stung. But because I'm a cheap bitch I used the whole bottle 😅 took me a couple of months to use it up and the redness didn't improve but the stinging did. My skin loooves Salicylic acid so it must be another ingredient in there that just wasn't right for me!
Hi James, loved this thanks, added the elf toner, lip balm and pig blackhead thing to my shopping cart for a future purchase. I currently use the omega water cream from the inkey list and am enjoying it. It's great for my oily skin. My favourite/best item for under £10 is currently the ordinary's 10% niacinamide + zinc serum. Take care and happy Friday 💗
Is the ordinary and Inkulus actually budget friendly?? All the products I’ve seen from them were $10 for tiny things but literally everyone’s recommendations are typically $20+. Though I do love these budget videos cuz I can’t spend too much money on these things tbh
Wait I shouldn't cleanse twice a day? I feel like I do a morning cleanse and night cleanse, but I also sweat horrendously! I wonder if I should just do an evening cleanse and just wash with water in the am?
Superdrugs me+ range is great and revolution beauyy too... like ordinary dupes.. can you do best budgrt sunscreen. I battle wiyh melasma and found sun zapper xinc stic in light tone the perfect concealer aswell as spf 50
I did like the elf toner at first, though I noticed it was making my skin near my eyes/cheek bones a little red/irritated by the second and third day, which perplexed me. Noticed after looking at the ingredients it has glycolic acid in also (concentration isn't listed though) I've since gone back to pyungkang yul toner, but It's a shame as I wish I could tolerate the elf one every day with it being so available and cheap!
I had the same experience with the toner irritating my skin. It always made my skin feel dried out and I had no clue why until now! Makes so much more sense knowing it has glycolic acid.
may I ask how sensitive your skin is? I had a tester of their cleansing balm a while ago and my skin didn't really like it so now I'm hesitant to try other products from their skincare line.
I had such a bad experience with the BeautyBay customer service some years ago, and I’ve not ordered from them since. I bought a lipstick that was clearly expired when I got it (I worked retail makeup for 5 years, the waxy smell is unmistakable, plus it was grainy and dry) and when I filed a complaint, they thought I had received a used lipstick and refunded me immediately. Fine, but I really just wanted a replacement! So I asked if they had some in stock that was not expired, and if they could send me one. I was told ‘that’s how matte lipsticks are’ (it’s not, and I have a friend who had that exact lipstick in the same shade - she said it has a different smell and is definitely not grainy and dry in that way) and that I should just order a replacement myself. When I asked for a code to get free shipping for the replacement lipstick, I was told no, I should include it ‘the next time you place a large order.’ Speechless!!! Needless to say, I never did place a large order.
I like the packaging of the Bubble mosturizer so much, I just held my breath when you went through the ingredients. Luckily there's nothing I hate and it even has evening primrose oil which my skin loves! Does anybody happen to know whether it has any smell?
