U4-eeahh! I use the U2 wireless system for guitar and bass for quite some time and am still very impressed. Dropped the sender once and it had some sort of internal failure afterwards which caused dropouts. Got a pair of new ones by warranty after some weeks of waiting...
Well done and demonstrated. I used it on a show alongside the Xvive U2 guitar wireless both into the back of a EV Evolve array speaker pa. Even though I made sure that both units were on separate channels there was still interference and I had to terminate the U4. Maybe it was my iPhone which was running the EV app for wireless balance/eq for the Evolve. Probaly the 2.4 frequency is too crowded.
Hi, great, thorough video review! Question: Does this provide stereo monitoring or is it a mono-based system? I see that the sticky-outy adapter is only T-R so that may answer my question. (U-4-ia.)
big difference in walking meters away pout side in the country than in a city on a stage with all sorts of other wireless frequencies flying around through the air and a lot of serious voltage.
Euphoria. The transmitter power more than likely will not change depending on distance to the receiver and since it is a digital transmission, the receiver input sensitivity will likely not change either. Thanks for a comprehensive review.
Watching the drop-test I was like "Oh my god! Noooooooooooooooo" during the entire flying phase. But it all ended well and yes XVIVE U4 seems to be very resistant. I will evaluate this. Thanks GuitarGeek :D
i know im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Alfredo Gage i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I was standing in line at Starbucks watching this so I may have missed the price. Thanks for testing it. Euphoric feeling being wireless. Also, thanks for using metric measurements.
I’m all about the metric! I didn’t include the price in the video as it is pre release. It’s currently listed as $229 though. What did you buy at Starbucks?
So how do you prevent your ears from being ruined by sudden feedback coming through these transmitters in combination with in-ears? No built-in limiter?
I bought the product today and it arrived. I tried it on my focusrite sound card, but the sound has an annoying sizzle. Any ideas as to why? Otherwise I will have to return it.
Question: Can you use the U3 transmitter with the U4 receiver? Would love the added flexibility to buy the U3 set and just add on the U4 belt unit for when i need it. thanks
Deal breaker for me is the 2.4Ghz transmitter. There’s way too much interference these days in that frequency band. It might work fine for home play and rehearsal, but you’re going to have a helluva bad day if you’re playing in a place with more than 50 people in the audience with smartphones.
Yeah, I’d never use an IEM set without a limiter on the belt pack. You can do it with external units (or in the mixer) but if it’s on the belt pack it means it’s _never_accidentally__turned_off_
Pretty geeky there!! :) Very sweet device indeed and doesn't look all that expensive either. 5ms? Maybe when I was younger. What if you can't speel ufornia?
Trampoline 🤗 Can you play a tune while jumping on that ? 🤔 Great vid sir not to geeky just geeky enough 👌🏽 You can use a program to look for what’s broadcasting in the 2.4 range and pick the clearest channel for total transmitive u 4 rea 👌🏽
Someone needs to invent an audio multi connector adapter like those multi ink pens that used to be really popular in the 90s! Slide out a jack or XLR, depending on the situation! :)
Oh and yea..... Euphoria! You know I always leave a genuine comment about the video but might sometimes miss your sneaky little word trick the end while I am typing it HAHA :P Cheers Andy!
Re: competing for Wi-Fi channels: We typically have 5 to 7 people on stage. Personal mixes via the Presonus IOS app, charts on iPads via OnSong, another iPad for projection, and 1 or 2 wireless instrument packs- up to 17 wi-fi channels just for the band. No problems during soundcheck, but we do get occasional dropouts once the audience arrives. Not bad for mix control and charts, but don't want that for my IEM audio!
We have a similar setup but we run stereo ears - I guess there is no way to do that for this XVIVE system? currently we are running behringer powerplay p2 wired
Would you like to give pink noise to the transmitter and record the headphone jack out into line input of your soundcard and generate the frequency response graph so we know how the audio will be represent?
Might be a silly question as in dumb to all this - if I had a X-vive U2 wireless for my guitar, i’m guessing these have to run on a different number channel?
Hi, great video. I have one question, what do you do, when the batteries get bad? Can you get new ones easy? Have to be from the same brand? Are they easy to replace? Once again, thank you.
Received the unit today, tested it and unfortunately it interferes with my wireless guitar system (GLXD6 shure) I cycled through all the channels. There were also many other wireless devices around. I don’t think I can gig with this considering there are cell phones and WiFi everywhere now. When there is no interference it’s great! But 2.4GHz is just over crowded now.
@@TheGuitarGeek did some more tinkering. So the biggest culprit of the interference wasnt the Shure and U4 it was actually my router. I got a new mesh system router, and where I tested it was within 5ft of both devices. Once it turned the router off, things got a little better. In fact, the U4 performed better than the shure (just went hard wired in to test). Finally got the shure and U4 to cooperate by changing the group channel on the Shure. Downside is that there is a longer latency (7.3ms vs. 4ms) in the previous. I will test next saturday at the next gig. Thanks for you video though. Cheers
"So I'm just going to pop on these earbuds." *puts on earbuds* "OK WE'RE READY TO TEST IT NOW! I'M GOING TO GO OUTSIDE AND YOU SHOULD STILL BE ABLE TO HEAR ME TALKING FROM OUT THERE!"
@@RexyFan Any kind of engagement, be it a softball joke, or replying to idiots, is good for a channel. It helps their metrics. Keep up the good work. *thumbsup*
Hey bro, quick tip how to measure latency of a part in your system: 1. Get you system to a consistent audio latency 2. Measure the latency A of your system without the IEM stuff 3. Measure the latency B of your system with the IEM sender+receiver in between 4. B - A will be the IEM system's latency
I bought this unit, it really sounded flat . My beringer corded unit is in stereo and $35 . I was really looking forward to this unit sounding great and giving me mobility freedom. Disappointed:((
2:51 I notice you fast forward video, and described "You are hearing the audio from the U4", and I hear regular pitch instrument music. So, did you play the music on your phone or something and connected to U4 and re-recording? If is that so, did you mean you intentionally made the music pitch slow in particular second that you walk exact 2 steps, then put that on to phone, recording, and fast forward from exact point that you made slow? Or just you saying "It's work" and never shown actual proof?
One thing I have to say. Mono systems are not something yoy want to use. Very limited capabilities. Wifi wireless for IEMs is not realiable either... that said. It is expensive versus those limitations. Also batteries are not interchangeable, if it fails it fails.
