Have got a few comments about this so I’ll clear it up: The VFL and VFA were not “sister” competitions, meaning they had no relation to each other. They were two separate leagues. However, the Footscray Bulldogs from the VFA in 1924, and from the VFL in 2014, ARE the same team.

If you want an absurd ratio. In 1899 Geelong defeated St Kilda 24.18.162 v 0.1.1 Jim McShane kicked 11 goals. Thus he outscored them by at least 6500%.

Awesome video, mate. Well done! Here's a fact you'll love: A player that debuted in 1986 (or 1981 if you'll accept SANFL) and a player that retired in 2021 played matches against each other. The answers are Craig Bradley & Shaun Burgoyne. They squared off in Rounds 4 & 19 of the 2002 AFL Season.

Fitzroy won the 1916 Premireship after finishing with the Wooden Spoon (Finishing Last) on the ladder in the same season. This happened during the Great War/WW1 when the VFL had a number of clubs withdraw from the competition due to the lack of players leaving only 4 clubs remaining for the start of the 1916 season. Fitzroy finishing 4th as in Last on the ladder, were lucky the VFL kept with the final 4 system, and they won the 3 Finals in September in order to win the Premiership.

Here's a fun fact - Joel Selwood has played in as many finals wins in his career as St.Kilda have in their entire 120 or so year history.

When I was a kid in 1985 I got a book called "Everything you wanted to know about Australian Rules Football but couldn't be bothered asking" yip long title but it was full of stuff like this. I don't know if its a common book in Oz (I'm not Australian) but gee it was interesting.

Here is a little known fact that will blow your mind, North Melbourne's Ian Fairley kicked a goal with each of his first three kicks back in 1983 (R7 vs Hawthorn) and also kicked a goal with his final kick in the 1996 Grand Final. Ben Rutten wasn't the first.

I would say Michael Tuck for Hawthorn has the equal longest stint in VFL/AFL between 1971 to 1991. Dustin Fletcher was lucky he went as long as he did considering the stuff he went through.

This is good but not accurate as VFA was not second division. It was the original league and a seperate league to the VFL/AFL. Only in the 2000s did the VFA then become the reserves level. Up to then it was its own league with own rules including only having 16 players

come on mate, west coast / sydney rivalry doesn't come close to the collingwood / carlton or adelaide / port rivalry that has been built from more than just a few close finishes west coast / sydney weren't even the best 2 teams in 2005/2006, adelaide was dominate in those years but missed the grand final both times

You need to get your "Facts" correct. Footscray won their flag in the VFA. The VFA was a TOTALLY separate comp from the then VFL. Not a second division of the AFL as you called it. It was a rival to the VFL.

VFL became AFL in 1990 and VFA became VFL in 1995

The vfa was never 2 division they didn't want to be the vfl lied
