Eh, it was easy to miss the high on Dawson. Most folks weren't aware of it until seeing the slo-mo replay. As a Pies fan, I'll take it after the umpiring we copped in the last Crows game over in Adelaide.
One that everyone seems to have forgotten but will always plague me is the elimination final at Adelaide Oval between Port Adelaide and West Coast in 2017 I’m pretty sure. Shuey lifted his arm, clearly not a high tackle but still paid and West Coast won because of the unfair kick after the siren. Affected the finals (port would’ve been knocked out in semis anyway but either way)
I was at the Richmond Hawthorn game yesterday, as a neutral. They missed pushes and blocks in marking contests all day and the 4th field umpire generally sat away from play officiating grass. Australian football is the only code of footy where there are no sideline officials who can assist the main umpire/s. Go back to 2 umpires and allow boundary umpires able to make calls missed by the central umpires.
you missed a 2005 incident the afl admited was a mistake when dean solomon's shot on goal for essendon touched by hawthorns jonhathan hay was called a goal giving essendon a two point win instead of a 3 point win to hawthorn.
The afl is so far behind with lack of in game reviews. I get ones in free flowing play cant be changed but the first two its pretty easy to overturn, just another way the afl is behind similar to their score review cameras being 480p at 10fps lol
Billion dollar industry and they can't even afford proper cameras, i seen a behind called when the tape around the goal posts weren't stuck on properly, the game is a laughing stock.
@@BillyBowlster bruh they could just strap samsung phones to the posts they have like 480fps slowmo modes, fully dont understand why its so hard for them to upgrade
Could have had a whole video on Sydney at the SCG including kicking the ball out of bounds after the siren against Richmond, the ball travelling over 15 but play on against cats and Rampe climbing the goal post against Essendon.
Is this the same side that constantly sits the the bottom three for free kick differential? With incident after the siren the kick away is paid as 50 for time wasting. How can it be time wasting if the siren has sounded?
The first one, Zorko brings down Atkins without the ball, both arms around the waist tackling to the ground. Geelong should have won by an extra point.
It wouldn't have mattered if Rooke hadn't kicked that goal after the siren. If a point had been awarded instead of a goal after Hawkin's hitting the post, Geelong would have won by 1 point. It's really just simple mathematics.
I will never forget the umpires handing Adelaide the game against Fitzroy in 91 with rubbish free kick after rubbish free kick in the last 2 minutes of the game. Watch here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WTc_Qbgbvwk.html
AfL umpires literally think they are more important than the game. Watch: Players are more important than umpires. You can play a game without umpires, but you can't play without players.
I love people crying about the high hit not called for a pies win, as if the worst umpiring on planet earth still didn't get Adelaide over the line earlier in the season. What goes around comes around, the only difference is the pies win anyway 😅
To be honest umpiring has gotten so bad these days that it may as well be at the point that every game is going to have one. Other calls I reckon should have been included was the block in the 2018 grand final when Dom Sheed marked the ball and also Dane Rampe deliberately climbing and shaking the post as well as the 2019 ANZAC day game
There are still people to this day claiming the ball deflected off Spargo. Literal slow motion footage confirms it didn't touch a Melbourne player and so did umpires when they admitted error
Mate how on earth can you describe Daniher's mark in the opening game an 'unbelievable pack mark' ? You need to watch more footy or stop overstating standard marks in footy. Or perhaps believe more things. lol.
Wow mate, I guess I’m just more of a skeptic than you are perhaps. Or maybe perhaps when close games come down to the last minute you’d consider a pack mark with 3 opposition players around you to be somewhat ‘unbelievable’. Anyway, it’s just an adjective mate, don’t get too hung up on a single word some guy uses on a RU-vid video. Cheers for the engagement 😂 and keep on giggling.
In the 2009 GF, don't forget that Geelong won by 12 points, and that StK got a dodgy free in front of goal without the ball going back to the centre just before half-time, which was complete BS. So the Hawkins goal had no effect on the result
Dawsons no call was karma for rd7 Murphy was hit in the face which caused blood and a concussion no free kick Johnson had his head just about ripped off also a none free kick
Funny how you missed the first final last year when Lynch kicked a goal in the last couple of minutes that was overturned. If the umpire "thinks it's a goal" then there must be positive evidence that it wasn't for the decision to be overturned. There was no evidence whatsoever.
@@McZoltanOnline cuz I am biased and wanted them to win but also that goal being a behind could have changed how both teams played and changed the score
@@McZoltanOnline But you could argue since it was early a lot could have changed if that was a behind and could have heavily affected a lot of the game
@@Toastroony definitely and that’s the same point I made. Anything could have happened, which is why I wanted you to elaborate on your initial comment that the Saints should have won the GF.
Geelong get every important decision their way, its fucking disgusting,,,,,last night the balll was out on the full by a meter kicked by a Geelong player and mark by another and yet the mark was paid. I hate Geelong for this FACT, they are favoured severely by the umpires at the right time....usually in their forward pocket.
I agree, the video maker also ignores the game these two teams played at AO where there were many non-calls that restricted the Pies to only win by 1 point. E.g. Johnson's high contact in the forward goal square and clear front on high contact on Murphy, these occurred in the 4th quarter.
@@darrenmiles-morland8038 we deserved to lose those games, just like Geelong have also lost finals lol. In those games the win wasn’t robbed from us by terrible umpiring which was the whole point of this video so whatever point you’re trying to make is irrelevant
1979 , not 1 umpire heard the Siren , but the commentary team did !! but then the # 1 ticket holder that year WAS the Victorian Chief of Police so ….. 😅
St Kilda never had a chance to win 09, even if Hawkins goal was called a point, Geelong still win by 7. In 2010 though St Kilda got kissed on the knob by the umpires against Geelong when the umpires called Cam Mooneys fair tackle a push in the back when it should have been a free kick awarded to Cam.
There are bigger deal free kicks throw vs handball is often not seen many times a game youd only ever see it in slow mo most of the time clobbering someone is a lil different
Strange how no-one ever mentions the Sharod Wellingham "goal" in the 2011 Grand Final that hit the post and was the one that lead to review being instigated by the league
I thought it was the one that thwacked into the goal post that was awarded to Hawkins… Where the conversation started was Libba’s non goal in the 1997 prelim. I was right behind the goal, neutral observer, it was a goal.
Have a cry why don't you? If you can do better, do it. Or accept that humans are fallable, and for every decision that went against a team, there'll be an equally bewildering decision that benefited them. Get over it
No not biased. Eddie Macguire said the Hawks were crucified by the umpires. I still distinctly remember him saying that on the Footy Show. Furthermore, one of the umpires Darren Goldspink was relegated to emergency umpire on GF day as "punishment". I was there that day. Disgraceful umpiring it was.
Where is the 2018 grand final when Maynard was held? They legit admitted he was held and should have got the free kick, also round 7 against crows had much worst umpiring that almost cost the game
Another point that the timekeepers fail on is the start of the quarters. It is the bouncing of the ball in the centre circle that starts the time, not the blowing of the whistle prior to the bounce. One of the Crow's 1990's grand finals is a classic example of this failure by the timekeepers.
Its the cheap free kicks that piss me off the most.. A player gets literally touched a little high resulting in a free kick, while rough conduct goes unnoticed. . The 50 metre penalty is another
How must St Kilda feel with all these goal reviews and they lost a flag when Hawkins hit the post and was given a goal a few years before they employed the tech. ps: Grub Hawkins celebrating that point to convince the goal umpire when he knew it was a point was pathetic.
I think it might have been Round 8 in 1968...Richmond Vs Hawthorn at the MCG. When the siren sounded all scoreboards showed that the game was a draw 11.14 80 a piece. However , the goal umpires conferred in the centre of the ground and it was relayed to the main scoreboard attendant that Richmond's score was in fact 11.15 81. So Richmond won by a point. I was there as a boy and we were all disheartened that the game ended in a draw, but then elated approx. 5 minutes after the siren had sounded, when we found out The Tigers had won by a point.
I’m no expert by any means, but isn’t the fist case “incorrect disposal”? It looks like the long hair dude throws or drops the ball just before the lions tackle.
@@Reginaldinho712 Is Holding the ball the same as incorrect disposal? I thought they were separate, holding the ball is getting tackled without disposal, while Incorrect disposal is a throw or just letting the ball go. The head of umpiring said holding the ball, - just trying to get the penalty straight.
The Hawkins goal in the 2009 grand final was countered by the double goal St.Kilda got down the other end ten minutes later. Even then, if the goal was counted as a point, Geelong still would've been a point up when the final siren went.
No. If that goal was really a point, Geelong would have had to kick the ball back into play from the goal posts as opposed to it being brought back to the centre. Who's to know how the game would have flowed for the rest of that quarter and the game if it was a kick-in?
Opened this video to make sure you included that Lions game and was happy to see it was the very first example 🫡 as a Lions fan who lives in Geelong I felt gaslit by my entire town after that fucking game
