The thing with that mark was he was on fire, he'd just kicked 2 quick goals before that and 5 for the quarter and that's what made that mark even better.
Collingwood member here, I saw Krakouer's mark at Etihad stadium against the Crows. It was a towering pack mark and a worthy winner, but after five years I have come to the realization that Walker's mark was something special!
Modra 1997 is the best for me. He literally sits on Mick Martyn's head and gets piggybacked. Andrew Walkers would be the best if he won. Robbed and I go for Collingwood
Sean Smith best one, probably the highest and most perfect speccy of all time and to do it in the goal square off a booming kick outside 50 is even better
Some great marks here. I like Burton and Tarrant's the best. Reiwoldt's 2004 mark is one of the very best, but hard to argue with the Sampi grab. Greatest sport on earth.
completley agree with you on the 2011 one, absolutley no way kraquers was best, he only won because of biased collingwood fans voting. In my opinion, natinui's mark vs carlton > walkers mark v essendon > kraquers mark v adelaide.
They said Krakouer won it because it was in a pack. As a Carlton supporter I'll say, "okay fine, so why didn't Levi Casboult win it in 2014 if pack marks are always better?"
The question I have is, "when did it become legal to put ya hands on the back of another player to take a mark?? if that was in the Back line, they'd get done for in the back every time.
Best mark ever won mark of the year in the SANFL, I wish there was video of it on youtube. Ian Hanna at West Torrens as high as any screamer youve ever seen but took it one handed. Probably mid 70s from memory.
Sandon Perkins Pretty sure the umpire payed it as a mark cobber. Ablett clearly controlled the ball until he hit the ground. Suggest you watch it again champ.
Y'know what? When I was making this video and editing the clips together, I was expecting to see this mark during the mid-2000's MOTYs, but I never did which is really disappointing as it is a fantastic mark.
his was nothing but hard work and pure courage, but unfortunately the mark of the year is based purely on how the mark itself looks and not what was done to get it. hard to go by sampi's mark of the decade though, it was a beauty
Honestly, I've met him a few times, and he seems more than an inch shorter (I'm 6"4'). But anyway, i wasn't referring to his height when I said you made shit up, I was referring to your statement that the Carlisle was shorter than Walker. When he clearly isnt.
Krakeour actually won mark of the year despite Andy Walker taking mark of the century, i believe the creator of this video is expressing his opinion that walker should have won mark of the year and i agree with him
Walker is only 189-190cm. Thats just 6"2' not 6"3' - 6"4'. He marked it over Jake Carlisle who is 198cm. Thats 6"5. He jumped over him. His knees went straight over Jake's shoulders with NO help from Walkers arms. That is a spectacular mark. Don't make up shit about height if you actually have no idea and are just guessing.
Still baffles me how Walker didn't win mark of the year. It shouldn't be judged on which is more difficult -- it should be judged on how spectacular it was... 3 million views on RU-vid for Walker's hanger. The Essendon supporters at the game were on their feet after that mark
Agreed Krakour's mark while it was exciting (I was with crow fans for the weekend) should not have been Mark of the year. Darryl White was a favorite of mine and most of the better marks were from the the Nineties. Good to see the high flying mark back. The Otten one I must have seen plenty of times in Country footy.
That Johnathan Brown mark is the best mark I have ever seen. Yes the hangers look great and are spectacular, but to make that sort of ground and throw himself into a pack... that takes guts.
Your comment would make sense if i said 'do u go for carlton'. Due to Krakoer actually being awarded mark of the year even though Walkers was a class above.
Let me just start off by saying that if Andrew Walker played for Collingwood and Andrew Krakouer played for Carlton, my opinions would be EXACLTY the same. Opinions vary ESPECIALLY when it comes to determining if something is the "best", so of course not everyone will agree with my view and the several hundreds of thousands of people who think that Walker's mark was better. If you think Krakouer's is better, that's fine. I just don't agree. And lol, Brisbane? Take another 17 guesses pal.
And who says that pack marks are better? You? Hmm... Here are the total views for Andrew Krakouer's top 2 most viewed "Mark of the Year" videos: 124,692. Here's Andrew Walker views for his 2 videos: 3,140,451. Isn't that kind of 3 million more views? Why would there be 3 million more views of one mark over another one if the general concensus was that pack marks are better? I understand that Collingwood didn't win anything apart from the NAB Cup last year, but let's not clutch at straws.
Walker is 6'3/4 and it was over one person who he was taller than. Not saying it wasn't impressive as that would be a lie. Krakouer on the other hand is 5'8/9 and took a leap over a pack of people who are considerably taller than him. I also have the feeling if Krakouer was in the Brisbane Lions you would like him more. Then again, according to you if Walker was in Collingwood then his mark would be viewed as rubbish.
May have been a bit of a stretch to say 6"3 - 6"4, but he is definitely 6"3 as he is 190cm. I wouldn't say I was making up shit. Making up shit would be saying something like Akermanis has people who care about him....
