From Viking long ships to Viking long ships. Maersk is owned and operated by the direct decedents of Vikings. Good luck with transferring the ground vehicles from one ship to the other on the high seas.
If it was a huge semi-submersible cargo carrier cum budget multi role expeditionary helo carrier that could hide at sea it would work, this thing needs an armada similar to a CAG as it's carrying a lot of expensive assets too, either that or install some very comprehensive and cheap hull armor to absorb the SSASM's it'll be constantly at risk of being hit by. It's like the designers are scared to accept the fact it''s a giant easy and juicy target.
That’s been the nature of carriers and transport vessels since the beginning of time. The alternative is a fleet of vessel, with each vessel having 2-4 seaplanes
Just what any hostile forces desire, a huge, fragile, and very vulnerable basket with most eggs in it. Sadly, this is a trend the US military is slowly adopting. Instead of many cheap and expendable units, now each one (be it jet fighter or warship) is insanely expensive, and the loss of just one unit throws military planning into chaos. Kill that one ship and the financial cost is in many billions, and it sets back any planned military actions if not by many months, years.
@@ricksadler797 Examine the history of wars and the decision makers. In almost every case, it was the Generals and Admirals who decided tactics, deployments, choice of equipment. And generally, they are from an old generation who clung to what worked for them when they were younger. Billy Mitchell pushed hard against the top brass to advance the use of air power, he was court martialed for insubordination. But he persevered and is now credited as the man who created the US Air Force. Mitchell received many honors following his death, including a commission by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a major general. Heinz Guderian is credited as the father of the blitzkrieg, and he also fought the old guard, they still wanted to use cavalry and artillery tactics from WW1.
BS its not armored not meant as a wartime vessel all those poor soldiers! Ok then...you might be a republican and not care about the men and women so what about all those rotary wing aircraft? gone with one torpedo. One JDAM
