The Tour du Rwanda is truly Africa's greatest cycling race and totally slept on by most of the cycling community, including me. The Tour du Rwanda gives an equal black cyclist and black cycling platform in addition to an exiting stage race that is absolutely underrated.
If you are a fan of cycling, are a black, asian or minority ethnic or know black bicycle riders, you owe it to yourself (and them) to give this 33 year old lesser known cycling race a look. The best part is seeing a diverse peloton that is representative of the real world, or at least the world that I live in.
The Africa cycling eight (8) stage race covers 913 KM (570 mi) and 16,347 M (53,632 ft) of climb through seven (7) race and one (1) individual time trial.
