African countries have some of the fastest growing economies worldwide. But for decades, the dominating image of Africa has been that of a poor and helpless continent. See why this image is misleading. #DWAfrica #the77percent #Africanyouths #Africabusiness #FactsAfrica #Economies

Growing 7% and your GDP is $100 .... only requires you to create $7 extra dollars. Growing 2% when your GDP is $10,000 requires you to grow your economy by $2000. Africa should be growing at 20% annually if it ever hopes to catch up to the developed world.
@DirtyEdon

@fac1fac195
@fac1fac195 2 года назад
There is no such country with GDP growth at 20%. The ideal GDP growth for a country is 2% to 3%. Despite the pandemic, sub-Saharan Africa's GDP growth was 3.3% to 3.5% in 2022.

That's exactly what the West used to say about China. China is now the world's second largest economy and it's poised to overtake the USA as the largest economy in about 5 years.

2% of 10k is 200 dollars... Africa doesn't need to grow 20% to catch up to the developed world, we can already see some example in asia where countries have been growing 5%-15% annually(although most of them are not at the level of the developed world they are a lot closer than they were in the past).

This is nonsense, Africa is still underperforming, we need to grow at 10 to 15%, and that's possible because all we need is change our agricultural activities from SUBSISTENCE FARMING to COMMERCIAL FARMING, ban exportation of natural resources and use them as INPUTS for INDUSTRIALISATION, if our besties Russia could industrialise in less than 5 years in 1930s what will hinder Africa from replicating same rapid development and economic restructuring in less than 10 years in this information age where technology transfer is possible? Besides we have China which is more than willing to build required Infrastructure and commit skilled labour, and we are 1 billion people, all we need is to start with labour intensive industries and later include capital intensive industries and knowledge economy

At what cost! Some of the countries have lost airports, mines, ports etc . to the lender China. Now I understand the EU wants to rival the Belt and road initiative with EU alternative as a challenger. By all means such initiatives are most welcomed however the loan contracts must be openly discussed and not under closed doors with the terms of such contracts made public. The pandemic is just one of the calamities facing Africa. What about draught, famine, unknown diseases and of late resurgence of military coups Nd political unrest. I always believe in what Shakespeare wrote in one of his plays and i.e.," Never borrower or lender be." It would be fruitful to first sit down with the borrower and determine the exact course that country will take in repaying the loan and in what way the project(s) will benefit financially at the end of the loan period. We definitely see fantastic metropolises with skyscrapers adorning the skyline but God forbid if any of these are gutted down by fire there will be equipment and trained personnel available to deal with such calmities. I maybe wrong and pray that it will be so.but wisdom cries out loud and clear.
@shangothunder1055

Absolutely none of these countries especially the leading ones have lost have lost a darn thing to China. The Ugandan airport crap was fake news. Africa was the least effected by the pandemic. Dude you either have a wild imagination or your painfully naive so it's best you not talk about places you don't know anything about.
